“Since 1815 The Netherlands has been a constitutional monarchy. Historically for centuries before, it had been the proud republic, a union of provinces. Since 1848, the Netherlands is also a parliamentary democracy. Dutch monarch has no real political power, but serves as representative head of state and a symbolic person uniting the divided parliamentary politics” (Amsterdam.info, n.d.).
Hence, the premise of this Module 3 Session-Long-Project (SLP) assignment will centralize itself around certain aspects of both the political and legislative/regulatory systems of the Netherlands. With emphasis on the characteristics of these two systems in order to determine, whether or not such traits are instrumental in practicing business in the Netherlands. Additionally, this essay will scrutinize the level of corruption in this country and the ramifications it has on business performance. Let us, commence by examining matters regarding the political system of the Netherlands.
Political System During my research of this subject, I stumbled upon a website entitled: hollandtradeandinvest.com. The website characterizes the Dutch government as a parliamentary democracy that is effective, stimulating, and stable. According to the website, it classified several U.S. companies sustaining their operations within this country such as: Reebok, Abbott Laboratories, Cisco Systems, and Boeing. Additionally, several thousand of other foreign corporations occupy the Netherlands as well.
