People divide their time unequally among their social contacts due to time constraints and varying strength of relationships. It was found that high diversity of social communication, dividing time more evenly among social contacts, is correlated with economic well-being both at macro and micro levels. Besides economic well-being, it is not clear how the diversity of social communication is also associated with the two components of individuals’ subjective well-being, positive and negative affect. Specifically, positive affect and negative affect are two independent dimensions representing the experience (feeling) of emotions. In this paper, we investigate the relationship between the daily diversity of social communication and dynamic affect states that people experience in their daily lives. We collected two high-resolution datasets that capture affect scores via daily experience sampling surveys and social interaction through wearable sensing technologies: sociometric badges for faceto-face interaction and smart phones for mobile phone calls. We found that communication diversity correlates with desirable affect states–e.g. an increase in the positive affect state or a decrease in the negative affect state–for some personality types, but correlates with undesirable affect states for others. For example, diversity in phone calls is experienced as good by introverts, but bad by extroverts; diversity in face-to-face interaction is experienced as good by people who tend to be
Diversity enhances the country because people have come from ethnic background with different beliefs and religions and they will bring different
So, why do we need diversity? As America grows, the differences in cultures among individuals become colossal. People are becoming closed-minded about others who are disparate from themselves,
Social factors that contribute to a diverse and equal society in which we live in
Diversity is to value that we are all unique and yet similar. We have different needs, interests, learning styles, language and personality etc.
Diversity is about respecting individual differences these can be: ethnicity, physical abilities, gender, age, religious, beliefs, sexual orientation, material status, politic, region, religion, disability.
Our country is a good example of what diversity means. Globalization has increased rapidly, making our society a more diverse place. Where individuals from foreign places with different cultures, race, and languages all unite to become one. As one of my favorite novelist, F. Scott Fitzgerald, once said, “The rich are different from you and me.” (Walter Benn Michaels 725) The problem here is that Fitzgerald failed to realize that the “rich” were the same as everyone else, except with more money. A diverse society represents a country with various people of color, socioeconomics, national origin, etc. Although we are all different yet, the same, and come from different places, race, color, gender, and socioeconomics, nobody is looked down upon nor superior to the other.
Diversity means different individuals valuing each other regardless of intellect, age, disability race or religion.
The negative aspects regarding diversity are generally based on religion, politics, ignorance, jingoism and tribalism. Even considering American exceptionalism, we are human. We tend to segregate ourselves with people of the same financial bracket, belief systems, heritage, and education and are biased even while claiming tolerance of others not
One of the first to express the strenghting power of diversity was Walt Whitman in his poem “I Hear America singing”. In his poem he writes, “I hear America singing, the varied carols I hear...The carpenter singing his… The mason singing his… The wood-cutter’s song... Each singing what belongs to him or her and to none else…” (Whitman). This shows how different kind of jobs -- or the people’s jobs-- have their own special song which creates the American song-- which is supposed to represent a song of diversity. The diffrent types of jobs can be related to current day American immigrants because people come from all over the world, bringing a variety of different beliefs, religions, cultures, styles, tastes and that “... is the amazing thing about the united states, a country full of immigrants, made up of immigrants can’t identify, can’t come up with a common identity based on a shared ethnicity or a shared culture, or even a common language-- no, what binds America together is that we share a common story…” (Aslan). The fact that America shares a common story means that we find “unity in diversity” (Aslan); therfore, people don’t need to share things like ethnicity, culture, or even a common language; they can become united based on the fact that they all share a common story of being diffrent. Whether diversity is showing how diversity makes things better by allowing people to have their own opinions that will build and it allows people to find unity in a common story. Proving that diversity is needed in order for society to grow-- well, at least in
Today, most people view diversity as a good thing because it gives people the chance to experience different things outside
Diversity means difference as everyone is very different no one is the same, for example twins may be identical but be totally different and have different interests and different stages off development.
Diversity helps people learn about other ways of life and what goes on in other places of the world. It

Understanding diversity is an important matter for us all to understand as a society to help promote a more generous world
It is not hard to figure out why diversity has become an important topic for the international arena. There are 196 countries in the world with about 196 different ideas they consider “traditional” or normal. Consider the US where it is a melting pot for many different cultures. The workers within any company can come from a diverse back ground just in the US, take that same business internationally and you have more diversity. Diversity is an advantage because with it comes different ideas and an effective work force.
