The preservation of the environment and conservation of energy are dynamic topics in the political world of today and actions to be taken are discussed every day. It is time to advance beyond the ordinary gasoline engine automobile that has polluted our environment for several decades. The recurring problem that hasn’t been solved is the pollution from automobiles that harms the environment and uses fuel that won’t be around some time in the future. Neglect for the preservation of the environment has spread like an infection over the years, and automobiles are major players in the pollution of the environment. A change is vital, and hybrid cars have begun to lead the way to that change, besting regular car in cost-effectiveness and …show more content…
The environmental impacts from automobiles come in the dozens ranging from brake and tire debris to the toxicity of the lead acid batteries in cars. These problems are also not to be taken lightly. For example, the debris from tires and braking raises the toxicity levels of nearby soils and leads to the formation of black carbon. Both pollutants have been shown to cause lung toxicity and significant portions of particulate matter in urban areas. Painting and coating cause discharges of harmful materials such as nickel, copper, and hexavalent chromium into the atmosphere. Batteries are a more critical part of the automobile, and even though they can be recycled they account for the release of 42,000 tons of unwanted lead release into the environment. The plethora of environmental problems from automobiles today is affecting the lifespan of our atmosphere and causing a downward spiral that is exponentially increasing. With these problems, the transportation revolution is knocking on the door and as the guardians of our planet, humanity needs to find a way to decrease pollution and that way has been opened with the hybrid car.
Hybrid cars are more beneficial to the environment than their traditional counterparts, but not all hybrid vehicles function the same way. To decrease emissions all hybrid cars run on some form of electricity, whether it run on pure electricity or splits power with
Many people buy hybrid cars because they have been told that hybrids are much more eco-friendly than any other vehicles out on the market and they feel proud for supporting the Mother Nature. Surprisingly, it is a fact that a recent report announced that the Toyota Prius has a higher life time energy cost than Hummer H1 SUV (kentlaw.edu). It also states, “There are, however, environmental costs to mining and smelting (in Canada) 1,000 tons a year of zinc for the battery-powered second motor, and the shipping of the zinc 10,000 miles - trailing a cloud of carbon - to Wales for refining and then to China for turning it into the component that goes to a battery factory in Japan” (kentlaw.edu). In other words, the hybrids emit less carbon dioxide and other gases but it releases far more energies and toxic gases into atmosphere at production and disposal stage.
The author first explains what a hybrid is, stating “A hybrid is a cross between two established varieties of plant, animal… or technology.” She introduces the hybrid vehicle, a new form of technology that stands as a possible answer for a vehicle that is both energy preserving and safer for the environment. Before she dives into details of how the vehicle works, she enlightens the reader on what the article is about and the objective of the hybrid vehicle. Abstract—In this modern era, many advancements in technology have been witnessed. Research and data collected around the world have allowed for these advancements to take place. This has allowed for a better understanding of the footprint humans leave on the environment. As a result, this has allowed for the planet to become eco-friendlier. An eco-friendly advancement in the 21st century is the electric vehicle. There are a plethora of benefits using electric vehicles. Some advantages include no emissions, cost-effective, and low maintenance.
There has been lots of controversy on whether hybrid vehicles are environmentally better than gas vehicles. In this new age of technology and vast growth of human population, there would have to be ways to make driving environmentally healthy considering the fact that millions of people drive(Goffman, “Electric Car Batteries Could Provide Energy for the Smart Grid”). Hybrid cars use clean electric , while gas powered cars use harmful polluting fossil fuels. For the most part, to make sure that this world becomes cleaner, hybrid cars will definitely need to be used in the future. Hybrid cars are environmentally better than gas cars.
The United States of America is one of the biggest automobile markets in the world. This trend has also created awareness for environmentalist to bring attention to rising level of pollution and emission within the cities and metropolis. As response, the U.S. Government is encouraging the automobile manufacturers to produce clean and renewable alternative vehicles that will drastically reduce pollution and emission. Subsequently, the automobile industry has witnessed a gradual introduction of environmental friendly vehicles that use clean and renewable energy to encourage less pollution and safer environment. The manufactures of these vehicles have introduced into the market three categories of electric passenger car
Some people have also adopted the hybrid car trend, although many people think hybrid cars help the environment as well. Hybrid cars still uses some form of a gasoline when it is being used, thus creating carbon dioxide emissions. Whereas, the electric vehicle produces no emissions.
The invention of the automobile was a great milestone in history. Without it many places or things would have never been discovered. Many people would’ve lost their life waiting for medical attention to arrive. It would’ve taken days or weeks to transport goods or medication throughout the United States. Now that we have the technology and research, we must take advantage, and suggest more methods in providing a better life for our future and are wildlife. Hybrid vehicles still have glitches as well as gas operated vehicles but it benefits savings in fuel and our environment will take time for science to make it more users friendly and less hazardous.
Environmental concerns have been raised from time to time because of the dependency on the gasoline-fueled engine as the chief auto powertrain technology. This has resulted in exposing many automobile users to unpredictable prices of fuel. These issues were, however, the reason for
Imagine never being locked out of your disgusting gas-guzzling vehicle in sub-zero temperatures pumping your car full of toxic chemicals and then later emptying your bank account to pay for the environment killer ever again. This reality is near and approaching faster than ever before. Although, it is not completely beneficial. It is evident that at an international level, electric cars are needed. But, this is only one side of the story, despite common belief, electric vehicles are not always good for the environment. It is true that they will benefit bank accounts, however, the only way for electric cars to improve the environment is if they are powered by clean renewable energy.
Even the “Greener” gasoline hybrid Toyota Prius can only manage 53 miles per gallon. If you are only running on gasoline, the best you can get in a vehicle is 42 miles per gallon. Yet even with the hybrid technology available today, the consumer only sees a marginal return on the upfront higher cost. The cost to replace a hybrid battery pack runs up to $7,000. This adds up to approximately zero cost savings over the life of the vehicle. This is why incentives from the government are offered and why hybrid cars and trucks only appeal to some people’s conscience and not their wallets. For example, Volkswagen’s Diesel models all range from 40-46 miles per gallon. I do not call into question that a hybrid vehicle is more fuel efficient than a non-hybrid vehicle because that is nonsense, but I do think diesel engines are superior to gasoline hybrids in fuel economy and usefulness. I intend to prove the value and affordability of the Diesel engine versus the gasoline hybrid engine.
Electric vehicles today are promoted as the precursor to an environmentally cleaner future. At the same time these vehicles are stylish and high performance, however they can be very expensive. Which means they are not attractive to the penniless, but only to the environmentally committed rich. Those who own an electric vehicle might brag to their families, friends, strangers about their sacrifice for the world, however, are they really making a sacrifice? The answer is “no”. In reality, today's electric vehicle is trading one environmental problem for the other. It doesn't matter if the vehicle itself does not release carbon dioxide while it's running; an electric vehicle is as clean as its power grid. Since most of the united states electricity
Since the industrial revolution, the environment has gotten contaminated with carbon dioxide, the product of any combustion reaction. For many years a lot of improvement has been made in order for big industries to release less harmful gases to the atmosphere. Since 2012 the number of electric cars roaming around the world have quadrupled. This growth is linked to subsidies offered by different governments in order to reduce greenhouse gas emission. These cars are popular in many places like Norway, Quebec, and California. Recent ads suggest shifting to these cars due to their “zero emission feature”, since they run on electricity, their engine doesn’t have a combustion reaction and no carbon dioxide gets released. While it’s true that the act of driving one of these cars doesn’t contaminate the environment, there’s other factors to consider for if this transition is really all that beneficial like the media claims.
The future is the 2016 Ford Fusion Titanium model, which is the best looking hybrid car in its class. I wish that you buy me this car. If you buy me this car, it would not be a mistake. Why hybrid? Are hybrid cars really the future of the motor industry? Is it really, one day, going to save the planet? Because the world is aiming to have less emissions and better air quality, motor industries and manufacturers like Nissan, Honda, and Toyota have developed hybrid and electric cars. .Hybrid cars like the Toyota Prius are seen all the time on our roads. With less gas consumption and less emissions or no emissions at all, hybrid and electrical cars are the ideal solution to decrease greenhouse gases as we transition into the future.
Hybrid and electric cars have affected the automobile industry by using alternative energies other than fuel and reducing the amount of carbon dioxide that is emitted into the atmosphere. Like everything, there are many advantages and disadvantages to having a hybrid or an electric car.
Since it’s invention and birth in 1886 automobiles have influenced the world in a huge way. It saved people a lot of energy, time and money. Motorized wagons replaced horse carriages and within a few decades Ford started making affordable models of cars with higher efficiency, which revolutionized the concept of transportation. The first ever car that was built was powered by steam. But with development in science and technology other efficient fuel sources were invented. The present day cars run on petrol (gasoline), diesel, and electricity and even sound. With the increased depletion of coal and coal-derived products, the continued use of automobiles is becoming uncertain. Energy
