He was a hospitable, respectful person. He wanted to be baptized and received into the church.
Miss Evans: The dynamic character, the one who changed during the story, the one who realized her mistake. She was a missionary, weak on matters of doctrine. She was young and possessed of but one enthusiasm -- that for saving souls. She tried to rehabilitate old Harjo morally, but as he didn’t agree in leaving one of his wives, she realized that there was no way to change things. And she felt guilty because she woke him up to a desire for the water of salvation that he could not take.
Mrs Rowell: The minor and static character. She had been working as a missionary for fifteen years and knew it was no use to try to convert the older Indians. She was a sincere and patriotic woman as well as practical, discreet, charitable and tactful. But she was also immovable.
Liza: Harjo’s first wife. She was a stout, handsome, plump woman of about fifty five, with a clear, sweet voice. She was also a hard-working woman. She was of the Crow people. She had lived with Harjo since he was thirty years old and had helped him to make the farm.
Jenny: Harjo’s second wife. She had gone to live with Harjo when he was thirty five and she was twenty five because she had been taken care of her old mother. She was a hard-working woman in his fifties and also funny. She was tall and thin. Liza had suggested Harjo to
him a lot and that really depressed him. He realized that nowadays, the Church is not as
In "The Miller's Tale," the character of Alison is introduced as the 18-year-old wife of a carpenter who is much older than the woman. The author's description of the young wife seems to suggest that she was so wild, beautiful, and desirable that the old man had a difficult time containing his jealousy.

Present day Oklahoma was once Indian Territory. It became Indian Territory after the Civil War (Fugate, 136). The Unassigned Lands were in the middle of Indian Territory, but it was not claimed by one of the tribes (Hoig). However, this land was surrounded on all sides by land claimed by a tribe such as the Cherokee. The first to notice the land was prime were the cattlemen who herded their cattle through the area (Fugate,137). The word got around that the land was so great and the “Boomers” were created.
Along with his mother he attended the Mt. Olive Baptist Church near Plumerville where the pastor, Mason’s half-brother, the Reverend I.S. Nelson, baptized him in an atmosphere of praise and thankgiving. From that point in his life, Mason went throughout the area of southern Arkansas as a lay preacher, giving his testimony and working with souls on the mourners’ bench, especially during the summer camp meetings.
The Cleveland Indians decided they are going to get rid of Chief Wahoo logo next year (Waldstein, 2018). Many Native Americans are happy, while others are not bothered with the decision. It may be a win for Native Americans for baseball, but for football not so much. Native Americans have questioned the use of the name Washington Redskins since the 1960’s. Yet, it didn’t receive national attention until the 1990’s. There have been many cases in which the Redskins logo was fought to remove the trademark owned by the Pro-Football Inc. In one landmark case that stood out to me was Pro-Football Inc vs Harjo.

He could only be saved through God and God alone. He tirelessly worked on his relationship with the Lord and encouraged others to do the same. Therefore, he was focused on changing the way people worshipped. His “goal was the restoration of true worship.”
He answered the call to salvation and received Christ. It was not to be an easy journey. One of the most difficult and elusive understandings he encountered was the knowledge that the path of God’s journey forced him to travel his true walk. Many preachers have admitted that not long after their salvation they
