The articles focus on building a public dog park in a residential area of Muscatine, Iowa. The dog park would be surrounded by a fence, where dog-owners can unleash their dogs for play and exercise. With the building of a dog park are two opinions to consider. First the people who support the building of the park and second the people who are against a dog park. In this essay I will explain my own position on the issue of whether or not public dog parks should be built in cities. First of all I know the problem of living in a city and having a dog. There are many disadvantages for the dog and the owner. When can I go out with him and play with him? Where can I go without breaking the law of off-leashing my dog? I can say there are many positive things of building dog parks in cities. For example, if you have a dog park you can go there and off-leash your dog and play with him or her. The dog has enought space to run and to jump. This is one of the main problems for bigger dogs, who live in cities. Often the owners don’t know that a big dog …show more content…
One of the reasons that people are against a dog park is the barking. But for this I also have a solution. The park should have opening times. For Mondays to Fridays the park should be open from 7 or 8am until 9pm. Most of the people are awake during this time and they will not have any sleeping trouble. On weekends the park can be open from 10:30am to 10/11pm. Most of the time people are awake at this time of the day too. Also the dog park would be built more outside a city and not downtown. There is no difference between the sound of a car (the horn) or the sound of a dog who is barking. The only reason that it will be hard to open/built a dog park is the money. Therefore the city should ask for help and scolarships. If the people really want a dog park, they should be willing to support it by giving
I think dog parks are a good idea. Dogs need alot of exercise and play time. Many cites and urban areas just dont have the room for that to happen. But there are optoins there many open unused lots, and empty building that could be torn down to create these places. I am a dog owner myself i live in the country were open space is abundant. My dog Neno can run a play all he wants it's good for his health and mental state. When he doesn't get out he gets cranky and chews thing around the house. I grew up in a city of five millon, so i know how hepful a dog park can be to dog owners. You should always have your dog around other people, and animals,
Families that use off-leash dog parks are able to thoroughly help and develop their dogs for a better life. Off-leash dog parks allow both pets and owners to learn and grow through exercising and socializing without constant worry of infringing someone else rights. It benefits dogs as they are given adequate space to run and use as an outlet meanwhile, recognizing certain behaviors of more respectable and mature pets through socializing. Properly exercising dogs allow them to relieve tension and unbend; this potentially changes them from being noisy and irritable into more quite and friendlier animals. There have been numerous accounts within my neighborhood where the local residents have filed noise complaints on local dog owners. In the recent study, “On the Fence: Dog Parks in the (Un)Leashing of Community and Social Capital,” authors Taryn Graham and Troy Glover of the
According to one article '' That 37% of americans who own dogs often look for a dog park when choosing for a place to live''. With dog parks everyone would benefit. Without a place to take dogs they may never socialize much and can become aggresive.Though a good point can be made that dog parks can be loud at times. I still believe that dog parks are needed.
Before you jump to the hasty conclusion that I’m opposed to a dog park because I do not have a dog, let me assure you I do have a dog and am aware of my responsibilities as an owner. The principal argument for a dog park is “exercise is important to dogs’ mental and physical health.” I would take this argument a step further and state exercise is also
Opportunity costs of building this park would include less land for outdoor recreation or public recreation. The town is very limited on public spaces and land so creating the dog park would consume further parts of the land making even less of space for
My city or anyother city could do without a dog park if they don't already have one. In "No Dog Park for Muscatine" it say that "It would be a burden for taxpayers and a lawsuit waiting to happen." I agree with this the citizen in my town would have to help fund this project no matter if they support it or not.
Building a dog park will be a very costly project that will impact the public, which in turn can raise taxes. This impact will not go well with taxpayers, especially, with the economy steady raising taxes for other city projects and needs.
Dogs should have their own parks, because when dogs aren't getting the physical and mental excercise that they need, their behavior tend to get worse. ASPCA has a study that shows the rate of dogs biting humans went down drastically in places where they're dog parks. ASPCA also believes that if dogs had a park then their would be less incidents of dogs attacking humans, barking, and destroying things. Many dog owners have given their dogs up , because they started to act like''bad dogs'', this is because they don't have a dog park to excercise all their energy everyday. Dogs need a park just like humans.
I believe most if not all cities should have a public dog park. Since I was nine years old I have always owned a dog. I have lived the city all of my life as well. Living in the city there is many apartment buildings with little to no yard space. To keep a healthy and friendly dog the dog needs exercise and play dates. Because most pet owners in the city have no yard space for these activities. a public dog park is the perfect solution.
I believe one of the biggest problems that they face if the dog park is bulit will be the noise. As stated in the article the average dog bark can reach 75 decibels and large
Limiting a dog's physical activity can lead to many other problems such as dog-bite reports increasing, crowded dog shelters, and bad behaved dogs. Adding a dog park will only befenfit the growth of city in many aspects. Property values will increase and lawsuits should decrease, because dogs are proven to be more well behaved when active and social with one another.
By having a dog park in the area the property value will raise. Many people who have dogs look for property that has a dog park near their house or apartment. As a dog owner I am willing to pay top dollar for a place to live that is near a dog park so my dog will happy and healthy and I know other dog oweners are willing to as well, in fact 37% of americans who are dog owners look for a dog park when choosing a place to live. I read an artical that having such things as dog parks and other desirable things in neighborhoods can help boost the econemy and bring in more revenue to the city therfore even though it can be coastly up front it benifits
I do believe it would be best for everyones sake if the dog park was built. Clearly, the passage stated in benefit to the dog park being built, "Bad behaior caused by dogs being lonely or poorly exercised is partly responsible for the 2 million pet dogs that end up at U.S. animal shelters every year." The prevention of putting an animal in a shelter could possibly avoid lawsuits from the animal attacking a person.
The need Muscatine, Iowa has for a dog park is a difficult topic. Dog owners have lamented over the fact that there is no safe and legal area for them to allow their dogs to exercise in. In oppistion non-dog owners feel that the construction of a dog park would hamper their ability to peacefully live their life. Whilst there are difficulties to building a dog park for the community, I believe the pros out weigh the cons.
While some people are seeing the negative effects of having dog parks, there is solutions to each of them. Before bringing dogs intio the park, be sure that they are trained to be obedient. They should know to come when called by their owner. They should be trained to not be aggressive towards another dog or person. A solution applying towards the costs of building dog parks could be creating fundraisers and donations from those who praise this topic.
