Fellow students of Columbia State Community College; are you struggling in a subject, but it is hard to ask the teacher for help? Well fear no longer: Speedy
Tutors offers an anonymous peer to peer tutoring system. Simply come to the designated building, fill out the information card, and enter it into the terminal provided. From there the data will be used to find a “match” for the student. Which matches the student with someone who can not only help them in their subject, but the student can also help the other party in a subject they are struggling in. Not only does Speedy Tutors offer a way to communicate with people, but it paves the way for many other options as well. People could continue seeing each-other after their first tutoring session for

Setting the stage, is the useful thing about the system. The actual upsides of having a fellow peer tutor you in a subject. In an anonymous survey conducted on SurveyMonkey.com, seven out of fourteen people said they would prefer to be tutored by a peer over a professor. With this service the aim is to do just that, to bring tutoring to a peer to peer experience instead of a normal peer to professor experience. With this the goal is to make it easier for students to learn in a friendlier environment instead of a more judgmental or stricter environment that sometimes comes from tutoring from a professor.
Secondly, is the possibility of creating a new friendship from the program.
With this program you receive the anonymous student’s phone number which allows you to keep in touch with them past the first tutoring session, however this is only done with the students consent. If the student would like to remain anonymous and keep their phone number private, we will contact them with a location and time to meet their tutor. We encourage meeting other students
Providing a rich and varied context is essential, tutors should utilize a range of different methods to engage all students interests and learning styles. Identifying and meeting the learners needs are important so that tutors can facilitate students learning and ensure that both the students and tutors meet the required goals. Each learner is unique and brings to the learning situation their own different learning style, knowledge set, past experiences and motivational levels. It is important for tutors to consider the level of knowledge and skill development attained by the learners prior to instruction through a variety of different types of assessment, in order to offer a high quality learning experience, delivered and resourced to suit the needs of the learner. Tutors can assess learner needs through numerous means, such as; informal and formal assessment strategies, pre-course interviews and learning style tests. This will allow tutors to tailor lessons and activities to support learners individual needs.
Tutoring is designed just for that particular client and his needs. Kim Bloomberg-Schamus’s approach is different. She asks her clients that after each exam, or essays is graded students are encouraged to bring in their exams to be reviewed. Therefore, going over each mistake to teach the student how to do the problem correctly. It is all about individualized attention that most other tutoring companies don’t have the time to do.
I see students as the next generations’ heroes in so many fields. In my vision, I have to inspire students and prepare them with confidence, knowledge, experience and skills. Which means I encourage, communicate, guide, teach, and assess students in order to enrich their infrastructures.
Being a part of my school’s peer tutoring program has been the most gratifying experience of my high school career. As a student, I can relate to those that struggle in a subject and are unable to connect with the material being taught in class. I have worked with students who have lost confidence in themselves because of the difficulty they were having in school. To be given the opportunity to assist students to reach their academic goals is fulfilling. As a peer tutor, I edit essays, share scholarship searches, assist with homework, and provide studying tips and test taking strategies. I enjoy working with my group to develop habits to be more successful. With each higher grade earned, test anxiety relieved, and confident smile of those that I help, I know that the work I am doing is
Peer tutoring, is simply helping your peers to the best of your ability, with a subject that they are struggling with or just want justification on. I personally have been tutoring others since I was in seventh grade when I began helping elementary school aged children with their homework after school at a community center near my middle school. Tutoring became a newly found passion of mine at that time, and I have enjoyed the opportunity ever since. When I saw that Antioch offered tutoring as a senior class, I was ecstatic, and I signed up immediately. If I am not mistaken, similar to signing up for service learning, one must have a teacher recommendation to take this particular course. There may be other guidelines that I am not aware of at the time, but believe me, taking peer tutoring is well worth it. As a senior, you have to worry about applying to colleges or jobs, applying for scholarships, getting community service hours, working, finishing your capstone project, taking senior pictures, making invitations and announcements, finding internships, and so much
This is so the student who knows the subject material can assist the other student. This idea is based on two reasons. The first being that the student, who does not quite understand, can have a peer’s assistance. The second is so that the student who already knows the material won’t get bored while the other students catch up. By allowing this type of group learning, I will be encouraging the students to help each other. They will also learn to work well together (a skill needed in today’s world).
The on-campus tutoring was another resource the team had used. The tutoring sessions turned out to be very helpful as sometimes when the professor wasn’t available, the tutors were there to guide us. Making sure we are on the right track and pulling us out from any problem we might have.
We have tutors from high schools and colleges to help students with their homework assignments

The volunteering tutors in the previous objective will ensure that in their tutoring sessions, Michael’s assignments and projects are done in their presence and are reviewed by them to ensure optimum work is done for the highest grade possible.
Last Autumn, I received a call from Amir asking me if he could develop a tutoring program for college students. Amir, having recently graduated for the University of Houston, had spent time reflecting on his college experienced and sought to aid others who were going through similar collegiate struggles. Amir quickly formed and established the Undergraduate
These activities are open to all students in the City of Chicago. Students work with other peers, to help tutor each other, and helps each other with the programs and clubs. Over the course of the fall semester I have taken advantage of the TRSM Academic Success Centre (http://www.ryerson.ca/tedrogersschool/success/). At least twice a week since my second week at Ryerson I have attended tutoring as well as peer-assisted study groups.
Some of the reasons that tutoring is needed in society are outlined next. According to Dorothy Lloyd, "the trend of the '60's included a rapidly changing population of students whose educational needs became difficult to meet due to their mobility and lack of achievement. This change stimulated a rise in tutor programs" (46). As society became increasingly industrialized, families moved from city to city and their children went with them. Thus making it hard for teachers and schools to form a lasting bond between the children and the teachers.
