Selfish people only care about themselves and no one else.World War II in a time of hunger Mr. Dussel puts his needs in front of overs in the Annex. Mr. Dussel is a German Jew dentist married to a Christian woman, which he went into hiding without her, but with the Franks and the Van Daans .Despite the fact that Mr. Dussel should be grateful instead he is not; he is constantly insensitive to the feelings of others. Mr. Dussel during his stay in Annex he was argumentative about Anne's character.Mr. Dusell would mostly argue with Anne or about her. He would argue with Mrs. Frank “Something must be done about that child, Mrs. Frank is yelling like that.Who knows there's somebody on the streets? She’s …show more content…
Dussel has during his stay at the secret Annex is being selfish. When Mrs. Frank caught Mr. Van Daan is stealing food everyone got into an argument about how Mr. Van Daan always got more when Mrs. Van Daan is preparing food but he still wanted more so he stole. Mrs. Van Daan argues,"You're keeping the big ones for yourself! All the big ones look at that size of that..And that!"(427). While the Franks and Van Daan were arguing Mr. Dussel started dividing "equally" the potatoes and then everyone stopped arguing about Mr. Van Daan stealing the potatoes and started arguing about Mr. Dussel dividing the potatoes "equally".All in all throughout the play Mr. Dussel is selfish, argumentative and ignorant. Throughout the play Mr. Dussel is always unconcerned about the feelings of others when he should be grateful instead. Mr. Dussel throughout his stay in the Annex he would argue about or with Anne the most, he would be ingorant and say whatever he wanted to say and keep all the big potatoes to himself because he is selfish. In the Annex Mr. Dussel wasn't the most loved person based on his characteristics during his stay in the
When Anne first arrives at the annexe, she’s open to others and tells her family what she’s been thinking about. At the beginning of the book Anne says “I went upstairs and visited the Van Daans. I do so occasionally to have a chat”(Frank, pg.29). This is an example of her being open to others because she’s reaching out to the Van Daans to get to know them better. Anne was also not very fond of Mrs. Van Daan. She thought of her as rude and insulting and told her family what she thought about her. An example is when she says “I get nothing but blow ups from her for my continuous chatter. She is always pestering us in some way or another”(Frank, pg.27). The next paragraph goes deeper into the
Frank wants to hide something from Anne. The type of conflict is that Mrs. Frank doesn't want Anne to know something that she is hiding. This conflict involved Mrs. Frank, Dussel, Margot, Mr. Van Daan, Miep, and Peter.
Frank, Mrs. Frank, Margot Frank, Anne Frank, Mrs. Van Daan, Mr. Van Daan, Peter Van Daan, and Mr. Dussel. There were two characters that were not hiding but helped the group their names were Miep and Mr. Kraler. The evil in this group was how they treated each other when another was at fault. In the play, Mrs. Van Daan let Anne wear her nice fur coat that she got from her father and Anne accidentally got some milk on it. She got mad at Anne but that is reasonable but she was angry with everyone else for no reason which is not fair towards the other people in the house. The good in the group would mostly come from Mr. Frank because he was a leader towards the group and tried to solve all the problems. A part of the play Mr. Frank tried to reason with everyone so that they were all happy and would stay happy in the Annex. Although there were lots of people in the Annex they all tried and cope with each other in a reasonable matter.
The first part of the diary starts with her being a regular girl having fun and turns into a girl going into hiding with seven other people. In addition, she has to deal with relation problems with her mom, sister, and the people she is in hiding with. The problems begin when eight people are confined in a small area and everybody begins to irritate and annoy one another. Anne was especially concerned with herself and with her attitude towards the others in the group. She's mainly concerned with her mother who always treats her like baby. Mr. Frank tires to ease the quarrels between them by telling Anne to help out more around the house, but Anne stubbornly declines preferring to concentrate more on her studies. She especially gets plenty of confrontations with Mrs. Van Daan who thinks she is a spoiled little girl. Mrs. Van Daan constantly tells Anne’s father, “ If Anne were my daughter.” Anne’s respond to this in her diary was, “Thank heavens I’m not!” Of course
Dussel's news. Mr. Dussel is one of the new people that join Anne's family in hiding. When Mr. Dussel moved in, he told the Franks and Van Daans about everything he knew about outside. When Anne heard that her friend was take away to the concentration camp, she felt heartbroken and started to tear up. She wasn’t a person who got emotional but after hearing the horrible news, she felt miserable.
While there are many differences between the movie and the play they are both generally the same. They both show Mr.Kraler and Miep as the people that help Anne and the others in the annex through their tough time. They feed them with ration books they had to get from others because there is a war going on in the world at that time. Anne also becomes angry with Mr.Dussel and her mom in both story interpretations. She says that her mom
Frank also contributed to the theme that people are good at heart. In Act 1, scene 2, he decided to take in the Van Daan’s even though it increased the danger of them hiding. That showed that Mr. Frank had a big heart because the Van Daan’s could have blew their cover, but he took them in anyway. In addition, in Act 1, scene 5, he took in Mr. Dussel without hesitation. When Miep brought Mr. Dussel to the Annex, Mr. Frank said that they could stretch the food and would take him in. In conclusion, Mr. Frank was always looking to help people and take them into hiding.
Mr. and Mrs. van Daan and their son Peter (who is a few years older than Anne) are also in hiding with the Franks. Anne’s adolescence is spent hidden from the outside world. She’s cooped up in tiny rooms, tiptoeing around during the day. After almost 2 years in hiding they are discovered and deported to concentration camps. Anne’s father, Otto Frank, is the only one of the eight people to survive. After her death Anne becomes world famous because of the diary she wrote while in hiding. Miep Gies is a Dutch woman who assists the annex residents with food, clothing, books, and companionship. She cheerfully assists them with the things they need and pitches in to give them holidays. Along with Elli, she retrieves and saves Anne's diary from the floor after the annex residents are arrested (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miep_Gies). Miep Gies and her husband took action and helped their Jewish friends. This situation affected their daily lives in many different ways. The fact that Miep and her husband helped the Jews, knowing that they
Mr. van Daan makes sausages to preserve the meat they have bought. Mr. Dussel opens a pretend dental practice in the annex and comically attempts to fix Mrs. van Daan’s cavities. Anne tires of Mrs. van Daan’s incessant complaints and is annoyed that Mr. Dussel constantly tells her to be quiet at night but then wakes her up when he does his exercises at dawn. Anne marvels at how diplomatic she has become while living in the annex. Mr. Kugler brings the residents gravy packets to fill because he can find no one else to do the job. According to Anne, however, it is
Mrs. Van Daan:Putti... what is it? [All of Mrs. Frank's gentleness, her self-control, is gone. She is outraged, in a frenzy of indignation!]
Do you know about what happened in the holocaust it was a terrible time were lost of jews died kids, and families. “It’s muffler to put around your neck I made it myself out of odds and ends-I knitted it in the dark each night after I’d gone to bed.” Even though all the hate everyone got Anna was always the one how was nice to everyone even though they were mean to her. I know that you might have a different opinion like disagreeing and say that not everyone nice like Mr. VAN. Daan when we tried to sell his wife coat when her dad gave it to her before she died.
In the Diary of Anne Frank, the outside world not only gave her nightmares, but it changed her mood, and personality. The day Mr.Dussel arrived he began to tell the families about the outside world. Not knowing that the families were unaware on how much worse the world has gotten, he begins to share his knowledge.
Towards the beginning of the play, Peter and Anne have a teasing and kind of playful relationship. They don’t totally like each other, but they’re also very different. Anne is closer to her father than anyone else, but she doesn’t really enjoy her mother. Anne and Margot are fairly close, but Anne seems pretty jealous of Margot and her looks. Mrs. and Mr. Van Daan seem kind of rude to her.
When World War II started, and the Nazi’s started to invade Western Europe, the threat against Jews grew. As a result, Anne’s family was forced to go into hiding in Amsterdam. They hid out in an apartment above Anne’s father’s company with the Van Daan family and a dentist named Mr. Dussel. They called it the Secret Annex. Anne describes having a very close relationship with her father but not getting along well with her mother.
Frank is annoyed when she finds Mr. Van Daan sneakily eating their bread at night. Mrs. Frank says, “We’re all hungry! I see the children getting thinner and thinner. Your own son Peter…I’ve heard him moan in his sleep, he’s so hungry. And you come in the night and steal food that should go to them…to the children!”
