In our culture there are conflicting opinions and theories about the Bible and its contents. Skeptics, believers and non-believers either try to defend of debunk the word of God. I believe the two most convincing arguments for the reliability of scripture are the unmistakable honesty of the Bible and the Pragmatic test of experience.
First and foremost the Bible tells us that truth is an important and consistent entity in God’s character: the book of John describes God as “the only true God, whose word is truth.”(KJV Jhn17:3)The Bible also tells us that The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth (Jhn.14:17) Jesus, Himself said “I am the way the truth and the life…” (Jhn14:6)
In the article “Arguments that the Bible is the Word of God” the author makes a very important observation that when the authors of the scriptures talk about themselves they are honest about their sins and failures; suggesting their words were inspired by God. (pg. 9) I believe that the carnal man is

The Bible is full of experiences where people encountered the miracles of God. These stories were not magically made up accounts, as Elmer Towns reveals in his book: “The Bible tells the story of real people doing real things in normal ways.”(pg. 17) The Bible tells us that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. When Jesus walked the earth he healed blind eyes, unstopped deaf ears, cured disease and forgave sin. The miracles are far too many to list. I have also experienced modern day miracles. When I surrendered my life to Him, He forgave my sins. In my church I have witnessed a deaf woman get her hearing. Jesus healed my husband’s cancerous liver, after He delivered him from a long life of Drugs and alcohol. I have seen countless evidences of Jesus touching and interacting with His children. I have been filled with the gift of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking with other
Not all miracles are signs pointing to the deity of Jesus, but all signs are miracles. Signs communicate unique teachings in addition to their demonstration of power of God (“Thoughts on the Eight Signs of John’s Gospel”).
37); the Bible is regarded as being inerrant, because it was created by God and God cannot lie and is incapable of lying. The authenticity of God’s word is stated several times throughout Scripture, and David proclaims that God’s word is error-free; to object the honesty of God’s word as being true is to challenge the claim of Christ (Cartwright & Hulshof, 2016, pp. 35-37).
Miracles are not always prevalent at times, but are ways for God to bring the world closer to how He had originally intended the
Second: to offer that the Bible is true is to say that we can faith in its content; we believe it to be guide to our faith. We would have to embrace the notion that there are specific assertions about Gods faithfulness and how we should live our lives and reciprocate. These contentions may appear somewhat intricate, but recognizing its intricacies is a way not of evading commitment to the Bible 's truth however of fully addressing to the complex ways in which the Bible is true. Let’s contemplate the rapport between truth and meaning: the truth of a testimonial or a book hinges on what it means. Countless biblical scholars have worked for eons to scrutinize and appraise the text of the Old Testament, the Apocrypha, and the New Testament.
A humorous and engaging speaker, Daniel Wallace was invited to speak at Ouachita Baptist University about the textual reliability of the Bible. He opened his lecture with a fictional tale about a scribe named Brother Andrew that ended with what the audience soon realized was a joke, but by doing this Wallace was able to show the importance of leaving out even a single letter when translating the Bible. Wallace cites The Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown a few times in his lecture, who states that “history has never had a definitive form the book [Bible].” With this quote, Wallace begins his discussion on the corruptness of Bible translations, stating that the main argument backing the idea of the Bible’s corruptness is that we don’t have the original texts; we
I believe most convincing argument I believe is Dr. Straus’s argument that the New Testament is similar to what the original authors wrote. Dr. Straus goes on to say that there is “highly reliable manuscript evidence”. I believe that there are a lot of historians that have researched religion and whether or not God exist. This is because religion has always been a highly researched topic, so there is always updated evidence related to the topic. Additionally, there are many people who are not just religious, but they are more curious about the history of the bible. Since, religion is still a very sensitive and controversial topic today, I believe that there will always be ongoing research on the scripture that could only strengthen the belief
Throughout his life, Jesus performed many miracles. Examples of these miracles can be found in the Holy Bible in the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John). I would have to say that my favorite miracle performed by Jesus would have to be when Jesus fed the four thousand, in Mark 8:1-13. Jesus was surrounded by a large crowd and felt compassion for them. He wanted to provide food for everyone so they would be strong enough to travel back to their homes. They only had seven loaves of bread and a few fish, but after Jesus gave thanks and broke the bread, he told his disciples to pass out the food, and they did. When everyone was finished eating there was seven basketfuls of broken pieces left.
Many people hold biased opinions against the Bible’s authenticity; however, fulfilled prophecies, historical evidence, and the writings of non-biblical, pagan historians verify the Bible’s accuracy.
The first thing that one needs to understand is the true meaning of the miracles Jesus performed, even though the Devil does not want us to understand the meaning. He loves when we speculate and question. In the Bible, miracles are often referred to as “signs.” Miracles are acts that only God can be responsible for, usually above and beyond natural laws. Baker’s Dictionary of the Bible defines a miracle as “Synthesizing the root connotations of these terms, we may define a miracle biblically as an observable phenomenon effected by the direct operation of God’s power, an arresting deviation from the ordinary sequences of nature, a deviation calculated to elicit faith-begetting awe, a divine inbreaking which authenticates a revelational
"You can 't trust the Bible. I 's full of all kinds of contradictions and errors". This is a very common charge made against the Bible today. You may have heard this kind of thing from a friend or coworker. Maybe you have even heard this kind of things stated on TV, but is it true? Is the Bible an unreliable book full of errors and contradictions? To answer this question let us look at some of the more commonly cited proofs for this assertion.
Many people are familiar with miracle stories. They are present all throughout the bible and even occur to people everyday. How can we know that what those people from the bible and what we are experiencing today is actually evidence for a true miracle? David Hume considers something a miracle as “an event that is caused by God (directly of indirectly through an ‘invisible agent’) and violates a law of nature” (Taylor 611). Therefore, his rigid definition that he uses causes one to believe that it is never reasonable to believe that a miracle has occurred.
This topic has been studied on for a long period of time already. Thus, resulting to a lot of articles on the internet or in books that prove that the Bible really is reliable. Despite it being about thousands and thousands of years old, it is still consistent and very up to date.
Miracle can be defined as powerful deeds and signs that Jesus accomplished. In the bible there are very many miracles that occurred during the time of Jesus. Lohfink defines miracle as a challenging act, in contrast with the bible which views it as an unusual act that relieves a person of negative aspects in their his or her life. Lohfink further clarifies that with the modernism influence, the miracle concept is going through a strip stream, where through miracles God breaks natural laws to show his love for us (Lohfink
I believe that scripture is the infallible Word of God, divinely inspired by God through human hands, for the teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training of Christians and forming the basis of the Christian life and guiding them on the path to Christ. I believe that scripture is infallible rather than inerrant, because human writers through which God spoke can still make mistakes. However, Matthew 24:35 reminds us that God’s word is true in all ages and places. 2 Timothy 3:16 gives reasons why it is import for believes to use the scripture such as teaching and correcting. Scripture guides us along the path we should as evidences by Psalms 119:105 comparing Scripture to a lamp to show us the way. I have also personal experienced the wisdom that the scriptures can offer to those who need guidance. I also believe that scripture should be the main point of guidance, which is something that my church has taught me such I was young. Matthew 7:24 instructs us to build our house on the rock (scripture) which is the most solid place to rest our life.
It is said because of His holiness, he always actively speaks the truth to demonstrate this. (Towns 69) This can be seen in Romans 3:4 where Paul states, “By no means! Let God be true
