On the last two lines, an extended metaphor was used, “Yet knowing how way leads on to way”, “I doubted if I should ever come back”. These last two lines of the third stanza, heightens the attention of readers that he hopes that he could try the other path as the traveller knows ‘how one road can lead to another’. Also, the traveller is having doubts as it is impossible to retrace steps as other choices or decisions can lead to other options in life. The third stanza raises the awareness to readers as he decided to stick with the decision that he made but still with a bit of regrets.

The poem “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost describes the dilemma in decision making, generally in life each individual has countless decisions to make and those decisions lead to new challenges, dilemmas and opportunities. To the best of my ability, I recall that my description was pretty much the same today as it was back then. There are lines that I have to argue with Orr about that the poem has been misinterpreted in several areas (Kirszner and Mandell, 2012). In regards to the lines nine and ten, Kirszner and Mandell indicate (2012), “Though as for that, the passing there Had worn them really about the same” (p. 324). In the final stanza, lines 16-20 the tone of the poem changes completely. This is the only stanza that begins with a new sentence, indicating that it is a stronger break from the previous ideas. The speaker puts himself in a future situation discussing his life. What he states here seems to contradict what he has said earlier. From his future prospective he says that the paths where different and that he did not choose the one most traveled by. Perhaps he will in the future actually believe this and he only wishes that he could choose in the present "the one less traveled by."(20)

There could be a lot of meanings to this poem, but in my opinion this poem is showing how life really is. How life isn't a easy road there will always be obstacles and you just have to hurdle over them and face the fact that life will always be hitting you hard. They world is so confusing but you will end up knowing your purpose in life. So the theme of this poem is to show how life will have obstacles in your way but you would always get thru it.

The primary theme in “The Road Not Taken” is about making choices. In the poem, the speaker comes upon an intersection in the road. Since the speaker does not have the capacity to travel both roads at the same time, he must decide which one to take. “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, / And sorry I could not travel both.”

Another poem I chose to go with my theme was “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost. This poem explains how choices are like a fork in the road. There are two paths that you have the option of taking but each one will lead to a different place. It shows that depending on your actions and what you choose to do, each path will lead to something different from the other. This poem also shows that there is a choice everyone makes.

By choosing the harder path, the speaker declares his rebellion against the popular opinion as represented by the other road. He decides not to conform to society and takes up a less popular choice. When considering his choices the speaker shows the typical human reaction. He considers taking both paths at first. He says, “Oh I kept the first for another day”, but later confesses he “doubted if [he] should ever come back” (13-15). Thus the poem’s significance lies in the speakers making a decision by choosing a road and moving on with his life. The act of choosing the road represents his uniqueness and the fact that he is always moving forward, even without stopping.

I had to choose between playing a full-time summer sport or going on family vacations in the summer. Sports enriched my life in many ways such as creating more memories with my friends, allowing my pitching to improve, and gaining valuable team experience. Family vacations also could have changed my life as it allows for more family time, memories, and adventures. In the end, I chose to play a summer sport because it increased my games per year, practices per year, and a significant increase in game experience. I am happy with my decision because it gave me lifelong experiences.
