The Salvation Army : An Organization

The Salvation Army Laredo Texas Corps, is a place of humble means that has been ravished by the impact of poverty. However, in the midst such disparity, there lives and exist soldiers that are sold out for Christ and The Salvation Army. Recently, the soldiers passions have been reinvigorated to love, serve, and make Salvation their number one priority. The main focus of the corps has been to enhance and develop programs, in order to, allow soldiers passions to flourish; by expanding the Kingdom and the work of The Salvation Army here in Laredo.

in 2014 the United Nation’s refugee agency reported that the number of society forced to escape their houses across the global had outstripped 50 million their times since the World War II Crisis. The leader of Salvation Army territorial Ollie and his wife were listening to the report about refugee on the radio then they decided that they wanted see the refugee. Next Monday the local newspaper ran a story saying The Salvation Army was receiving donations of clothes for refugees, even though Christine did not ask for that. She and Ollie only found out when a TV station phoned to ask how the clothing appeal was going. That was first they heard, they said “we felt this was God’s way of saying to use that we must care about the refugees.

They provide housing for those in need and other services for the homeless. These include food, utility assistance, overnight lodging and group homes. A big part of the “Salvos” is that around Christmas time, people can go into shopping centers like K-Mart and put presents under a big tree there. Those presents are brought all the way to children and families in need, just so they can be brightened their time in what would normally be a time of sorrow. Youth camps are a nice part of the Salvation Army’s curriculum as they provide young, disadvantaged kids with the chance to meet up with new friends, have a fun time and enjoy many fun, recreational activities such as learning to swim, adventure and scouting, arts and craft, music development and sports. Kroc corps is not, as most people might think, either a teaching lesson about how to tame alligators or learning how to wear a terrible kind of shoe in a pretty way. It is actually from a woman named Mrs. Joan Kroc, whom was the widow of the founder of McDonalds; Ray Kroc. She donated 90 million American dollars to the Salvation Army in

the united states, the salvation army served as being one of the greatest nonprofit organizations to aid in food, clothing, and shelter for those who were in need throughout all of America. “Today, the Salvation Army still operates in more than 75 countries around the globe. Including more added hospitals, donation centers, disaster services, rehabilitation centers, community centers, and thousands of voluntary contributions centers not only in America but throughout the world” (History.com, 2012). The Salvation Army prides in providing millions of families that are less fortunate with essentials that everyday middle class families take for granted. In addition, this action allows middle class people within their own community to open their hearts and give what they can, be little or nothing; would create a gigantic difference to those who are less fortunate. Throughout the centuries, the Salvation Army continues to a successful organization because they have the ability to provide a helping hand to everyone that is in need. The Salvation Army creates a gateway to wholehearted people who desire to help others less fortunate. The

Their sole purpose is to particularly focus on the needs of others. Triune Mercy Center’s mission statement is: “To share Christ’s love by meeting physical needs and providing life-changing opportunities to the disadvantaged.” They help people attain self-sufficiency by providing money through donations from the community; and they prepare hot meals given by food boxes that are donated. Triune Mercy Center tries to collect small supplies for home usage such as: toilet paper, detergents, and towels. United Ministries focuses on the similar areas, but takes a different perspective and provides long term care for the homeless.

There have been several presidents who have earned the title 'great' for the leadership and vision they demonstrated during their service in the White House, including Thomas Jefferson, James K. Polk, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan. Today however I want to honor one president above all others, George Washington. The committed charity group had took it upon themselves to deliver gift baskets to 1500 families in peril on christmas eve. Though this organization had been proving to be successful in providing many people with relief from this financial crisis, there were many cases in which the people had given negative responses; “The Salvation Army’s primary function was to spread the gospel through loud open-air meetings...Many Salvation Army officers had to dodge rotten vegetables...by onlookers who didn’t appreciate hearing the message of Jesus Christ.”(salvationarmynorth, page 10). There are other agencies that are funded purely on donations alone. The Salvation Army is one of these agencies, and it offers assistance to the society in dire need in ways such as housing, health, providing support, clothing, food etc. (The Salvation Army 2009)

Emergency assistance, which is needed whenever there is a fire, hurricane, flood, and other devastating event, is also crucial in times of need. There are many different ways to volunteer during the holiday months. The angel program is a program that allows individuals, families, or groups select a child or a senior citizen to provide a special Christmas to. The toy shop is a place where parents shop for gifts at no cost for their children ages 1-13. Volunteers fill stockings for children and senior citizens in the stocking program. The Salvation Army holds holiday meals on Christmas and Thanksgiving at the army shelter for anyone. Holiday food boxes, boxes of non-perishables, are given to those in need. There is also the renowned Kettle Campaign, where bell ringers stand outside of businesses and parks collecting money in red kettles, helps pay for all of the Christmas programs the Salvation Army holds. They put all their work into their shops and cafes to provide the necessities for everyone. Even better they make sure to help the environment so they are not causing problems anywhere! Criminal justice is the degree that I have chosen as what I 'm going to pursue at Campbellsville University. One thing that interests me about criminal justice is detectives. I believe detectives are the most interesting job in the criminal justice system. As a kid I loved being able to face a problem and figure out ways to fix it. I believe detectives use all the clues and evidence to figure out the puzzle or problem that he or she is faced with in every case.

The Charity Organization Society was based in the scientific movement of organizations. Workers believed that charity work needed more definition and organization and that charity should be focused more on individual need rather than as a whole population. Focusing on individual need was intended to improve relief operations while making resources more efficient. They also intended to eliminate public outdoor relief. Today there is a great need for social service organizations. The population of a lot of cities and countries has grown, creating the need for more shelters, soup kitchens, and so on. Most of these organizations are church based and community founded. Then there are others that are funded by federal and state government.
