The Starr Report, written by Kenneth Starr, is the report that Kenneth Starr gave to the White House on President Clinton. In his report, he outlines the occurrences and the whole situation between President Clinton and Monica Lewinsky. Kenneth Starr elaborates on the whole situation and gives a brief outline on President Clinton’s affair. The report indicates that their, President Clinton and Monica Lewinsky, relationship began in 1995 and didn’t end for about two years. For me, the most surprising thing wasn’t necessarily the affair, but more of how President Clinton and his wife didn’t have an outfall between those years or how it wasn’t evident to her that something was wrong or different about her husband. I don’t think it is something
It was a sexual harassment case in 1994, by Paula Jones, a former Arkansas employee, in which the origins of Bill Clinton’s impeachment start. Ms. Jones made accusations that President Clinton had infringed some of her federal civil rights while she was an employee at Arkansas state while Clinton was the then governor of Arkansas. As per the allegations, President Clinton had
In correspondence to affairs, the Lewinsky scandal is an affair that can be connected to The Crucible. The Lewinsky scandal is an American political sex scandal between Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky (Macias businessinsider.com). The affair between the two began in November of 1995, when Bill Clinton was U.S president and Monica was a twenty-two year old White House intern (Macias businessinsider.com). The film and the Lewinsky scandal resemble each other in hysteria and characters. In Salem, Massachusetts, a profusion of hysteria expanded across the village, and circumstances were similar in the Lewinsky situation. Eventually in January of 1998, the nation discovered the news of Monica Lewinsky and Bill Clinton’s affair and the media magnified
"I did not have sexual relations with that woman." was one of Bill Clinton’s famous political one-liners. In the past decade, many people have made it their mission to prosecute Democratic President William Jefferson “Bill” Clinton for committing real estate fraud known as the Whitewater scandal and his involvement in numerous illicit sex scandals like the Paula Jones lawsuit and the Monica Lewinsky lawsuit to name a few. The significance of the Whitewater trials and the impeachment of the president is that it served as an example for future presidents and assured the people that the president is subjected to the law, not above it. If he
The film The War Room is a documentary about Bill Clinton that has very little to do with Bill Clinton himself. The primary focus of the film is devoted to the team of campaign strategists that got Clinton to the presidency. The two main players the film focuses on are James Carville--the Lead Strategist for the Clinton campaign and George Stephanopoulos the Communications Director. The film follows them and their team of campaign strategists and experts as they try to get Arkansas Governor, Bill Clinton, to the presidency. The documentary highlights many key moments in Clinton’s campaign, for example the Gennifer Flowers scandal. However, the film showcases what was happening behind closed doors in the War Room, where Clinton’s
Some presidents are remembered for their successes and some are remembered for their scandals. William Jefferson Clinton was a president that is known for his biggest affairs with Monica Lewinsky (John Harris). In 1999 Juanita Broaddrick accused 42nd president William Jay Clinton of sexual assault. He was also accused of pardoning his brothers criminal record (Kaizen). Clinton was a president with many success but most of success were overshadowed by his scandalous behaviors.
In the 1980’s, the United States was in a recession. Clinton’s presidency helped America get out of the red and was finally out of debt. During this time, crime rates rose as well as poverty and unemployment. Bill Clinton was elected in 1992 as a Democrat, and ran again in 1996 to be re-elected. Clinton’s Presidency consisted of many improvements within the nation, but also the collapse of his reputation. Throughout his presidency, Clinton was charged with perjury and obstruction of justice due to an affair with Monica Lewinsky. Although Clinton was a member of the Democratic Party, he worked with the Congressional Republicans throughout his presidency, in order to unite the two parties while he was in office. Both Clinton and the Republican
President Bill Clinton began an affair with Monica Lewinsky, a White House intern, in 1995. Later in 1998, when confronted with questions in regards to an affair with Monica Lewinsky, Clinton lied under oath in front of a grand jury. This, however, was not his first lapse in judgment as viewed by the Senate and Congress. The President and his wife, Hillary, found themselves involved in the Whitewater scandal beginning in 1978. In addition, during his campaign, Clinton was accused of draft dodging and rumors were spread in regards to his possible marriage infidelity. President Bill Clinton continued to find himself caught in the middle of scandals involving: Whitewater, Paula Jones, and most notably, Monica Lewinsky. The way Clinton handled
One of the things Clinton is most famous for, but not the proudest of, is his affairs. The issue of Clinton having an affair with Monica Lewinsky is purely personal. It should have been discussed within his family and in his family alone. Many people seem to forget that Presidents before him have done the exact same thing. John F Kennedy is probably the best known with his affairs. This doesn't diminish the fact that Clinton took it one step farther and lied about the affairs.
In January of 1998, Monica Lewinsky filed a sworn affidavit denying sexual relations between the president and her. She also allegedly asked Linda Tripp to lie for her. Tripp wore a wire and recorded conversations between the two. Clinton then denied that the two had a relationship repeatedly and several of his aides were questioned in court as well as several of his personal bodyguards. Next, Lewinsky was given immunity in exchange for the completely true testimony. Soon afterward Clinton admitted to having an inappropriate relationship with Lewinsky and the Starr report was released. Clinton
Yet, the most intriguing and surprising aspect of the scandal was not that Bill Clinton would ever cheat on his wife or that his administration would survive such a terrible scandal. Nor was it a revelation that the media would be zealously intrigued by a sex scandal involving the President. The one aspect of the Lewinksy Scandal that was truly
The sex scandal involving president Clinton showed that a president would go to great lengths to cover up a scandal, even if it meant lying under oath. For a short time period the office of the presidency became a joke among many Americans, this event
The reason why he faced impeachment is because in November 1995, Clinton began an affair with Monica Lewinsky, she was a 21 year old unpaid intern. In April 1996, Lewinsky was transferred to the Pentagon. In the summer, Monica confided in Pentagon co-worker Linda Tripp about her relationship with the president. In 1997, the relationship was over, Linda began to secretly record conversations with Lewinsky, so she would get details about the affair. In December, lawyers for Paula Jones brought Monica. In January 1998, allegedly under the recommendation of the president, Monica denied having a relationship with the president. Five days later, Linda contacted the office of Kenneth Starr, the Whitewater counsel, to talk about Monica and the tapes she made of their conversations. Linda, who was wired by FBI agents, met with Monica again and Monica was taken by FBI agents and U.S. attorneys to a hotel room where she was questioned and was offered immunity if she cooperated. Few days later, the story was out and Clinton denied the allegations saying, “I did not have a relationship with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky.” Clinton spoke a live television to a grand jury in a nearby federal courthouse. He was the first sitting president to testify before a grand jury investigating his conduct. Clinton gave a four minute televised address to the nation which he admitted he had a relationship with Lewinsky. On December 11th, the House Judiciary Committee
Everything was going great until the media found out about a secret affair between the president and white house intern Monica Lewinsky. Once this story hit newsstands across the nation the president was the only name people were talking about. It has been heard of before about former president John F. Kennedy with celebrity actress Marylin Monroe, but the nation found out about it after his death, so Americans didn’t take it to heart so severely as they did with Clinton. Because of this incident he was looked at more thoroughly by all government officials, so he was taken to court on accounts of perjury and obstruction of justice for that same incident with Monica
caught in the extramarital affair. Yet, this act alone did not justify a move to impeach him. He
An example of an Innovator would be Google Self Driving Cars. Most people are very hesitant to put their lives into the hands of technology and it takes a tremendous amount of trust in the car to get you to your destination safely. Majority of people are not ready to put their loved ones lives in a self-driving car so quickly. However, there will be a select view that would jump the gun in order to own the first self-driving car. Those people would definitely be considered innovators. A great example of an Early Adopters product would be GoPro cameras. All it took was a couple of innovators to take a couple breathtaking and unbelievable shots with a GoPro and sales skyrocketed! Now you see GoPro images and videos all around us, especially for
