Located in the Middle East, the climate is warm and sunny while the landscape is highlighted by sandy desert patterns, while gravel deserts dominate much of the southern region of the country. Currently, the UAE is very globalized, as Dubai is known to be one of the top cities in the world in comparison to Paris, Hong Kong or NYC.
Cultural differences impact globalization and business practices among several countries. Social Institutions are very different in the United Arab Emirates. The UAE goes by the Sharia Law, and according to this law, marriage is the only legal bond for a man and woman to establish a relationship and have children. The nuclear family structure is what they mainly follow and raising children is the main job for Emirati women. Only 6% of Emirati women are in the workforce, meaning their main concentration lies at home with children and extended family. Education, providing, communicating, volunteering, learning at home, decision making and collaborating with the community are mainly how Emirati women raise their children. There are few women working in the United Arab Emirates and this is a huge difference in comparison to western world countries.
Education is anther cultural difference that can affect business practices within globalization. The role of education in society has a lot to do with how successful an individual will be and how well they will communicate and work well with
For over thousands of years, globalization has widely occurred worldwide. Infact, since it had such an impactful widespread among people and families, It stayed throughout its heritage and was passed on to today.
By the beginning of the second Millennium, many countries realized the need and necessity to cope up with the rest of the rapidly developing world. As they realized this necessity, they also realized that the key to growth and development is, indeed, education. As a result, many countries around the world entered the heated race of reforming their education systems hoping that this would ensure them a foothold in the modern world.
The term globalization can be defined as a process by which societies, regional economies and cultures have been integrated via a global network of transportation, communication and trade. It has both positive and negative impacts in all the areas that it touches on be it economical, social, technology, cultural, political, environment, health or any other. Globalization started to have an impact on businesses world wide in the eighteenth century since that time marks the merging of modernity and globalization. However, in the modern sence, globalization kicked off after the end of Second World War since its during that time that leaders felt the urge to break down the borders
We all live in a globalized world; due to technologies being rapidly made it has driven globalization. Now we are well informed about other countries across the entire world and able to communicate internationally. Globalization has created a framework for cooperation among homelands. Generally, it has affected our nations and, indirectly we, the citizens in various ways; economically, politically, and socially, however it is a fast integration and association of various nations, which shapes the world affairs on a global level. The concept of globalization is evident in the many difficult challenges that come with it, involving our cultural differences, and the regulating challenge of globalizations. The phenomenon of globalization has affected many cultures around the world, resulting in the Americanization of other nations.
Globalization is the process through which the world is slowly but surely getting interconnected. The relation is as a result of the exchange of cultural
As we know it each country possesses its own culture, technology and production. Due to the geographic region they are located; they produce different kind of product. In the past it was difficult and costly for a country to consume and enjoy other country goods and service, but the globalization have change the situation. It bring a lot of change and advantage, and the change sometimes have negative impact on society, culture, economy, politic, technology and social life of the people of a nation.
Globalization is far reaching in this day and age. Globalization is the worldwide flow of goods, services, money, people, information, and culture. It leads to a greater interdependence and mutual awareness among the people of the world (Tischler, 2011, 2007, p. 430). One non-Western culture that has been impacted by globalization is China. An example of the impact of globalization on China is their economy. Since joining the World Trade Organization, China has transformed from a culture that relied on economic self-sufficiency and shunned the thought of globalization to an economy that is progressively more open to trade and foreign investment.
The other component that globalization greatly effects is culture. There is an exchange and spread of ideas such as religion, music, food, and traditions within different cultures. Globalization has increased the spread of popular culture easily and efficiently from the developed countries of the North throughout the world. Many media markets in undeveloped countries are saturated with productions from the Northern developed countries. Many have tried to silence the cultural expression, but due to the large globalization of our world the values and cultural taste are underway in the globalization process.
As is evident from the preceding discussion, globalization has greatly affected the culture of all nations worldwide. Some of these are discussed below:
Globalization is an undeniable phenomenon of our modern societies. Global patterns keep spreading in many fields of our everyday life: food, economy, marketing, and last but not least, culture. Cultural products are indeed very often produced following the American pattern and exported to various places around the world. Hollywood blockbusters are huge hits in many different countries, our radios broadcast more and more American songs and even our national singers choose to sing in English rather than in their native language. Globalization is caused by many different factors. Cross-border processes such as interregional trade, employment, population migration and military conquest or colonization probably constitute the main factors (Holton, 2000, 141, 149).
The economy is not the only area effected by globalization. Cultural globalization is also of critical importance. It is spread through the media, books, and even through the news. Since world news and information are often shared across countries, it is a sign of merging cultures through entertainment and media technology. The fact that television shows like South Park and Arthur are shown in multiple countries; shows that the cultures are becoming globalized.
The United Arab Emirates (U.A.E) is a federation of seven Emirates that was formed on December 2 1971. It is located between the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman and it is bordered by Saudi Arabia and Oman. The country has a total population of 3,740,000 as of 2004. Throughout the extent of time in which humans have inhabited the Earth, it has only been in the past couple hundred years that humanity has developed technology at an astonishing rate. From the early 1800s and onward, the human population has skyrocketed and advancements in technology have rapidly progressed through the course of a relatively short period of time. In that time, society has become a massive, interconnected network of people that are dependent on resources that originate from different parts of the world. With the technology of today, society has enabled resources that range from food to oil, to be transported to areas of the world in which those select resources are not available. An extreme example of this would be the city of Dubai, which is part of one of the seven emirates that constitute the United Arab Emirates. Dubai is one of the most impressive and wealthiest cities in the world and is well known for the luxurious lifestyle, extremely modernized architecture, and can be viewed as the epitome of a Westernized society. However, the land of the United Arab Emirates is sandy and barren, and not capable of being used for agricultural purposes, there is no major fresh water supply, and very few natural resources. With the absence of farmland and water, Dubai is a city that depends on the resources found worldwide that are purchased with the revenue from oil exports. Dubai has capitalized on its predominant resources and found
UAE is located at the southeast end of the Arabian Peninsula on the Arabian Gulf sometimes referred to as Persian Gulf, bordering Oman , and Saudi Arabia to the south, sharing sea borders with Qatar and Iran (CIA World Factbook). The population is estimated to be 9.446 million and consists of 1.4 million Emirati citizens and 7.8 million expatriates, majority of whom came from India, Pakistan, Philippines and other Arab countries. It was established in 1971 as a federation of seven emirates (states). Each emirate is governed by a monarch; together, along with some elected representatives, they form the Federal Supreme Council – legislative organ. One of the monarchs is selected as the President of the United Arab Emirates.
Globalization simply defined is the intensification of global interactions. The case studies we have studied depict two of the main types of globalization. Economic Globalization, which is the production, exchange, distribution, and consumption of goods and tangible services, and Cultural Globalization, the exchange of materials and symbols that represent facts, meaning values and beliefs. When Globalization occurs it usually has a major impact on indigenous cultures. Optimists or “champions” state that the relationship between culture and globalization has positive effects as it creates a balance between nations. Conversely, critics state that relationships between the two have negative effects, leading to the loss or deterioration of a
