The knights of Columbus should consider me, Emily Rosales for this scholarship since, my utmost aspiration is to follow the mission that God has given to me by helping my neighbors with dignity and respect. Therefore, I have volunteering at Holy Cross Catholic Church since 2009. I began my journey as an altar server when I received the Eucharist, the Body of Christ, then I ushered for a year, volunteer at the EDGE program for three years, and participated in the Vacation bible study for a week in the summer in the year 2014. Currently I am an altar serving, and Eucharistic minister.
In addition to volunteering at my local church I have also have given my time to help my community outside of the church. First of all, I really enjoy help other
I serve at my church by helping the kids learn more about their religion and I occasionally help at the food bank. Also, every Wednesday I help babysit my baby cousin Olivia. But, the main reason I give service is to learn more about life and people. I also give service because it brings joy to my heart.
Moreover, I often volunteer to do service in my community. I have been doing volunteer work for Walk for Hunger since from 2011. Also I participate many times in school food bank, which school donates food to families who need help. It was a wonderful experience because I was able to help out my community in a positive way. I like to be there for people who are in need because it shows people that I am a caring and loving them.
Helping those in need is also a big part of my life. I like to volunteer my time to help those in need who I may not necessarily know. I may not know how exactly my volunteering helps them but I know that my work has made an impact on their life. I think it is important to help those in need even if you do not know them. I being helping and giving back to the community has helped me become more understanding and selfless.
It is my great pleasure to recommend Denise Perez-Viveros for The Salvation Army Women’s Scholarship. I am the pastor of the church she attends. I have had the pleasure of knowing her for several years.
I have been volunteering in the New Albany community since 2012. I started by helping out at the local church, Five14. At Five14 I watch the kids while their parents go to the service. While watching the kids I am responsible for the task of teaching these children about God and Jesus. This a a positive and productive activity because I am able to work hand in hand with these young children and I get to see how I can help change their life with the help of God. Ever since I have started helping at the church I have seen lives being changed every week because the kids are now trying to use God in their lives everyday. This then contributes back to the community because when the kids start to change and act in better behaviors at a younger age it helps them to not grow into bad habits and bad choices later in life.
(The last suitcase was shoved into the back of the bus, and our next stop would be Winchester, Virginia.) My youth group and I were heading to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for a mission trip. We would be involved with a program called P-2 mission, which partnered us with a local church, Calvary Christian. During the day we would be doing street outreach and during the night we would be hosting a Vacation Bible School. There was an urgency to have this church up and running because the community around it was crumbling. The church itself was located in a shanty town. Violence was on the rise and the community was in desperate need of a strong foundation. The corruption was spreading so rapidly that the church’s basketball court was becoming
There has a been a time and place where you had the courage you didn't know you had. Vacation Bible School (VBS) of 2012 was the Amazing Wonder Aviation program. That was the year I decided to do the play. The things I had trouble coping with was practicing, performing, singing, and dancing in front of the church. Even though I wasn't fond of the idea at first, but a really good thing came out of it. I got saved because of that play in 2012.
Vacation Bible school is ending at Morris Brown AME Church as the clock strikes 7:30 p.m. on June 17, 2015. Anxious to take their pick from hot dogs, chips, lemon cakes and sodas, children scurry to the fellowship hall.
For the past couple of years I have volunteered in my local church. I have helped my priest by greeting people at the door, and handing out songs and books before mass. In the summer, I would take care of the younger kids at our church camp for a week. I recently started volunteering in our church choir. I now sing in the choir every Sunday mass.
I feel very compassionate about helping others, My children and I have been fortunate to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, food pantries, mission work in Mexico, food distribution at Christmas and Thanksgiving through my church and assisted with clean up in the 2011 Joplin Tornado. Volunteering for me is my way of showing compassion for others in need and letting them know they are not alone and they
This previous summer, the summer of twenty fifteen going into my senior year of highschool, I volunteered at the local summer camp at my church called “Vacation Bible School.” The camp started on Monday the tenth and finished on the fourteenth of August. I attended this camp when I was younger and figured it was a good opportunity to get some volunteer hours for college and I love kids especially young children, so this all seemed like a good idea. The summer camp had kids that ranged from the ages of three to twelve. I was assigned by the leader of the summer camp to the preschool arts and crafts room and my only job, or so I was told, was to organize the crafts for the day and help the kids assemble the crafts when they needed it. There
I was always interested in volunteering and helping others, but I did not get into it until I got involved with the National Honor Society at my high school. The program required us to do at least 10 hours of volunteering each semester. During the time, I was also in the process of becoming to be a volunteer at United Hospital. I already had the ambition to do volunteer work, but now I had the opportunities to actually do it. Volunteering at a hospital was not what I had expected it to be. To be honest, it was quite boring, because it felt like I was just sitting around most of the time waiting to be needed. But the feeling I got after volunteering made it all worth it. Knowing that I could have spent the day doing something else, but choosing to be here and to actually make a difference have me a feeling of elation. Same with the work I did with the
I am part of key club at the high school and have volunteered over 150 hours. Some of the events I have done include walk for wishes, senior quest, and various holiday parties. Every time I volunteer I feel a sense of pride because I was able to help others that needed it. I also try to volunteer at my church when I can. When I was younger I was part of the youth choir at my church and now I mainly help out at the fish frys. Volunteering at my church makes me feel like I am really part of the community and I love being able to talk to everyone. My volunteering experience has been wonderful and I don’t plan on
My most recent experience with volunteering is having gone on a medical mission trip to Uganda this summer. Our group of 18 missionaries headed out to five locations in remote places in Uganda and were able to provide medical services, by creating an opportunity for anyone who needed medical attention to meet with a doctor and receive medication for their aliments. Along with providing medical services, we provided spiritual guidance by having one on one conversations with everyone who came through about the Gospel and the opportunity that anyone has to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. At each location we visited, by the end of the day we saw at least 700 people and were able to build a church at all five locations.
Volunteering has been something that I truly have enjoyed doing in the past few years. I began volunteering when I was in highschool, mostly because we had to meet a certain amount of community service hours in order to be able to graduate. In highschool I was also involved in many clubs and sports which required for us to do fundraisers and other volunteer work. For example,I was a member of the National Honor Society where we did a lot of volunteer work in our community. I have been able to volunteer at many different places such as schools, festivals, sports tournaments, and at churches. Thanks to all of this, I was able to graduate high school with over 100 volunteer service hours.
