Trust
In the movie Finding Forrester, the amount of trust in someone can be shown upon how good of a relationship one has with another. Jamal, a highschool student, secretly has a passion for writing. Forrester is an older man who agrees to mentor Jamal in writing, along with revise and edit his papers. As Jamal visits Forrester more often, their relationship grows along with the trust they have in one another. In Finding Forrester, being in a comfortable setting will allow one’s relationship and trust to develop and grow with one another.
As people’s relationships grow, the more trust they will have in one another. Movielocity (2001) stated “Jamal encounters not only his first fan, but a mentor who will challenge and change him forever, and Forrester has his first reason in years to emerge from his self imposed solitude” (p. 1). Forrester and Jamal have relied on each other in multiple aspects of life. As their relationship grows, their trust grows along with it. Jamal pushes Forrester outside of his comfort zone by bringing him out into public for the first time in 40 years. Forrester allowed him to bring him to a basketball game for his birthday. This shows how far Forrester and Jamal’s relationship has grown. Forrester has enough trust in Jamal to take him out in public for his birthday, despite the fact that he has not left his apartment in decades. The movie Forrest Gump played by Tom Hank is a story about Forest Gump a simple man and his journey through life. Gump was simple minded and lived his life by a set of values taught to him by his mother (Sally Field). While Forest sat down waiting for a bus, he tells his story. Forest takes part in several defining historical moments such as the Vietnam War and the Watergate scandal and also had painful experiences. Despite his setbacks and naive nature, he struggles and triumphs in everything he did. Forrest developed a good self-esteem and self-concept with the help of his mother’s observation, love, and sincerity. With his mother and Jenny’s encouragements, he was able to overcome his physical handicap and become an outstanding runner among other things. This movie is an example of the how a child’s mind developed through series of stages. 9. Jamal and Forrester have both a teacher-student relationship and a friend-friend relationship. They have a teacher-student relationship in how Forrester helps Jamal become better at writing by correcting his work and helping it sound better. They have a friend-friend relationship when Forrester in the end admits that he gave Jamal permission to use his writings, so that Jamal would not be accused of plagiarism.

In “Finding Forrester,” there are so many people that kept pulling Jamal Wallace down because of his skin color and because he was not rich like the kids at his school. The life of Jamal Wallace was filled with many conflicts in the movie “Finding Forrester” because he struggled with people constantly pulling him down in his daily life. Jamal was always nervous in the movie so whenever he was sitting, standing, in the house, or walking down the street he always had a basketball with him bouncing it.
Continuing on, the lighting in the movie, Finding Forrester, emphasises how William Forrester has been living and feeling since the death of his brother. The scenes created in Forrester’s apartment remain, for the most part, in the dark. The darkness expresses that deeper, unsaid emotion Forrester is holding on to. Consequently, it gives Forrester a new attitude when he is by himself versus when Jamal is there. One night, Jamal takes Forrester to a basketball game, trying to pull Forrester away of his apartment allowing him to enjoy the activities he once did when he was younger. Identity is what defines a person, their personality, interests, and their ideals. For some people, it's easy to show off their personality, but for others, and can be hard. Some people see it as a way for people to criticize them based on who they are. In the movie, Finding Forrester, William Forrester is a well known author for his popular book, yet he hides away in his apartment because he doesn’t want to be judged based on his work. This leads to struggles that William deals with all because he wants to keep his identity hidden. A young boy named Jamal Wallace has a similar issue. He is academically gifted, yet he doesn’t show it off because he doesn’t want to stick out from his friends. The two eventually meet, become friends, and solve their issues together. Jamal helps William escape his apartment, while William gives Jamal tips on what makes a good writer. Finding Forrester gives a good lesson in being true to oneself and expressing personality. If someone is too self-conscious about their personality, it can be hard to keep their identity hidden, especially in uncomforting situations.
In “Finding Forrester”, there were two main characters named Jamal Wallace and William Forrester. Jamal was an inner city teenager from Bronx, New York who had the gifted talents of being a basketball player and a good writer. While always a C student, Jamal received attention from a New York college prep school for his high standardized test scores. Even though Jamal wanted to partake this request, he was afraid of his 4 friends opinions. Unlike Jamal, his friends did not care about academics and thought of Jamal as being a nerd.
In the motion picture Finding Forrester, the principle character's name is Jamal Wallace. Jamal Wallace goes to a secondary school where various individuals believe he's nothing than only a dark kid who plays ball. Matter of truth he is a virtuoso in his own psyche, and skilled at both b-ball, writing, and composing. All through the motion picture no one appears to see his real nature on the grounds that various individuals are always attempting to force him down in light of the fact that they simply surmise that he is only a dark startling kid who lives in the city and is just great at ball. There are three individuals in the film that have a tendency to cut Jamal down.
Trust is one of many components of life and it is shown through our actions and how we carry ourselves. We as human beings learn to trust each other by the words we say to one another and the actions we show to others. There are many lessons we can learn through the short but powerful story by Langston Hughes “Thank You. Ma’am”. Throughout the story there are several lessons and traits that the reader can interpret such as thinking twice before you execute the plan that you had in mind, sympathy, charisma, and even giving second chances. But more importantly, there is one lesson that specifically plays a huge role in the story itself and in American culture today, and that is trust others. There are several ways these lessons and interpretations can be put into real life situations and how they can affect us today in real time.
To be open-minded is being open to new cultures and to be accepting of your own. Finding Forrester is a movie about a writer that has been missing for many years. Jamal, who is a basketball player and writer goes up and finds him. They develop a friendship, and Forrester mentors him with his writing.

The film Forrest Gump uses a lot of information and historical events and expresses them using aesthetic techniques such as sound, cinematography, editing, etc. The director Robert Zemeckis uses form to explain the overall meaning of the film specifically with symbolism from popular phrases and gives visual examples throughout the story.
