Leadership is an act of leading a group of people to achieve a common goal. There are many styles of leadership like autocratic, democratic, laissez-faire, narcissistic and toxic leadership. Today, I’m going to discuss about the value based leadership. This is an effective approach to lead your subordinates by understanding organization and your personal values.
Values-based is a very indefinable term and theory, apparently commonly understood but perhaps not adequately or correctly. Value based leadership is connecting employees values with the organization goals. Leaders must communicate with to manage short and long term results. Leaders should talk about trade-offs, priorities, values and connections. Value based leadership is aligning personnel and organization values. It means employees and managers must behave in such a way which is important for the productivity, profitability, sustainability and integrity of the business. This approach of leadership is to identify your own beliefs, education, priorities and values which effects your way how you lead others, make decisions and handle conflicts.
Value based leadership has following important characteristics:
Vision:
The values-based leadership is focused on a motivating vision. The leader must be able to build a vision that the followers are capable to adopt as their own vision. The leader’s vision should become vision of followers because it is constructed on their needs and hopes.
