Air pollution causes great damage to the environment. These damages include acid rain, eutrophication,haze, ozone depletion, global climate change, etc. "Acid rain is precipitation containing harmful amounts of nitric and sulfuric acids."Acid
Global warming is hot topic nowadays. Alarmists and scientists fight to make their statements known, but while the alarmists avoid the scientist, non-governmental organizations pass themselves as scientist. They not only give out exaggerated data, they also have the nerve to accuse humans of being the cause of global warming. Also, we cannot be certain that we are being told the truth without knowing exactly what is really going on behind the scenes. We blindly trust those in authority because we think that they have our greater good in mind and that whatever they say must be the truth.
The earth as we know it is steadily changing. Weather its evolution, technology, weather or our environment, nothings is what it used to be. Climate is a major factor that is changing. This has been going on for quite some time yet, not taken seriously. Our planet has been much warmer in the past 2 centuries then ever before and scientist are working frantically to reduce this trend,
Climate change is influenced by the greenhouse effect which is the increase of Carbon dioxide, Methane, Ozone and Nitrogen Oxide. On one hand, the presence of these gases in the atmosphere make the earth habitable with respect to regulating the earth’s temperature. However, an increase in the concentration of these gases results in trapping energy in the atmosphere and this in turn increases earth’s temperature. “Global greenhouse gas emissions have grown since pre-industrial times, with an increase of 70% between
Gases such as water vapor, carbon dioxide, and methane all “have the ability to absorb thermal energy (heat) emitted by the earth and thus are able to warm the atmosphere” (“Greenhouse Gases”). This warming is known as the “greenhouse effect.” The majority of greenhouse gases are a result of humans burning fossil fuels to create energy. With more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, the Earth’s climate is becoming warmer, leading to threatening consequences for the planet’s population.
CONCLUSION. National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences states that Climate change is expected to affect air quality through several pathways, some of these pollutants can directly cause respiratory diseases or exacerbate existing conditions in susceptible populations, such as children or the elderly. Some of the impacts that climate change can have on air quality include;
The issue of climate change is people that have created the most carbon dioxide have used more than their share of the atmospheric sink to become rich. The issue of solving climate change though is everyone’s business, rich and poor countries alike need to solve problems together or risk a global catastrophe. The solution should be to use a global cap and trade system per capita which would compensate poor nations for damages that rich nations would cause.
At the GLACIER Conference, President Obama said, “climate change is no longer some far off problem; it is happening here; it is happening now”. President Barack Obama states a good fact; climate change is affecting the world tremendously. The glaciers are melting at an astonishing rate and the surface temperature of the world is only increasing. Currently, scientists argue that climate change intensified because of human activity; however, the circumstance is quite the opposite. Global warming refers to the rising surface temperature, whereas climate change includes warming and the effects - like melting glaciers, heavier rainstorms, or more frequent drought (Kennedy and Lindsey). Human produced gases play a factor in global warming but humans are not responsible for climate change because global warming only represents one aspect of climate change. Although human activity plays a part in global warming, human activity is not primarily responsible for climate change because the fluctuations of the sun’s heat is responsible for the increased surface temperature, the levels of human produced CO2 do not correlate with the increase in surface temperature and the computerized climate models display inadequate and incorrect information.
Fall is a season loved by many because of the changing leaves, anticipation of Halloween, and of course the cool weather. Living in Las Vegas, I have always looked forward to the beginning of fall after the overbearingly hot summers. As I am sitting in my living room with the air conditioning blasting, I am pressed with a question- why is it 100 degrees in the middle of October? This steady increase in temperature is a direct result of climate change, although some scientists may disagree, climate change is happening, and this change can be clearly identified by such indicators. By defining climate change, displaying the unnatural causes, and portraying how this affects us, I intend to then bring light to how we can lower the risks of the unintended consequences brought on by future climate change.
“Global warming is controversial, of course, but the controversy is mainly over whether human activity is driving it (Michio Kaku).” For years, the suspect or suspects that cause global warming have been unknown. Two of the well-assumed and controversial possible defendants are balancing on a slightly unbalanced seesaw with scientific evidence that back up or refute their degree of involvement in the crisis. There is evidence that global warming is taking a toll on the earth and will continue to further affect it significantly in the future. To begin preventing these future calamities caused by global warming, society must first assess whether mans’ actions are causing global warming or if it is a natural phenomenon.
In addition, Air pollution influences the liveability of places negatively as it's a push factor. Air pollution has a diverse range of impacts that influence livability through diseases and poor quality that could lead to many infections, diseases, or maybe even death from the toxic gas, carbon dioxide generated from motor vehicles or chemicals that are produced.
If the issue of global climate change is not addressed properly, it will create enormous economic challenges that will create huge price tags on the global economy; that is why we need to give much attention by proposing international policy because it will bolster cooperation between countries and international organizations by formulating policies for the general good of society. Climate change plays a key role in our day to day activities. The changes in climate will affect our movement, health, agriculture productivity, air quality and average temperatures. Furthermore, it is important for countries around the world to cooperate and to propose international policies aimed at protecting the environment and minimizing the impact of global climate change because increase cooperation will limit the impact by focusing on sustainable initiatives and provide plans that will cut greenhouse gas emission globally. For example, if countries around the world are not willing to cooperate, share information and signing international agreements, change in climate will devastate humanity and our entire planet. According to Evolution’s Edge, Taylor writes,
The issue of global warming should be on the list of our top priorities. Studies show that the average of global temperatures have risen since the Industrial Revolution began. Since the Industrial Revolution, human emissions has quadrupled the frequency of certain heat extremes and many scientists have warned that a failure to bring greenhouse gases under control could eventually lead to a 62-fold increase in extreme heat blasts (Gillis Justin A17). Most of the increase is due to human activities, especially the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. These activities contribute to a build-up in carbon dioxide and other gases in Earth’s atmosphere. The Earth’s atmosphere is made of gases like nitrogen, carbon dioxide and oxygen. These gases act as a blanket that covers and gives us warmth, but once these gases such as carbon dioxide absorbs heat, but does not release it back into space in which causes the increase in global temperature. This is called the greenhouse effect because it only traps heat but does not release it.
“It’s a well-kept secret, but 95 per cent of the climate models we are told prove the link between human CO2 emissions and catastrophic global warming have been found, after nearly two decades of temperature stasis, to be in error,” writes Maurice Newman, chief business advisor to Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott (Dunn). With this bold declaration, Australia thrust itself onto the international stage where it was widely criticized and condemned by the United Nations and environmental supporters worldwide. Already behind the world in climate change legislation, Australia quickly became the face of global warming denial.
