Reflection Paper #1
Introduction: Within this paper I will be reflecting over the first part of Theology 104. This class has addressed many topics that have given me a better understanding on Christianity, the Bible and most importantly Jesus Christ. I will be addressing two topics that I feel are very important to Christianity the first topic being the Importance of Personal Testimony and the second topic covering the Importance of Maintaining a Christian Lifestyle. Both of those topics I think help lay a foundation for an individual’s walk with Christ.
The Importance of Personal Testimonies: A person’s testimony explains why they are a Christian. Their testimony tells about

Non-believers are lost but many still feel that void, and Satan usually takes advantage and deceives the mind into filling that void with sin. Sin is present in everyone’s life but with Jesus Christ as our savior we are saved and forgiven. Testimonies give encouragement; it’s a real life present day example of Gods everlasting love for us. When someone hears your testimony it helps them open up for God to work in their lives. I personally have encountered many hardships, at one point many would tell you I had all the odds stacked against me. There came a time where it seemed easier to give up and to give in to the world around me, but I clung to my savior, to the words of truth found in the Bible. When life itself seemed impossible, I kept on believing and having faith. I knew God had reason and meaning for everything. Which he did, I experienced a breakthrough that transformed my life. The breakthrough is apparent to many. I wouldn’t change a thing, because God walked with me through the valley. I don’t think I would be as appreciative as I am if it hadn’t been for all the pain. In fact I feel very blessed to personally be able to say I have experienced God and his saving grace in the way that I have. At one point people may have just overlooked or judged me but now I have the ability to relate and give hope and proof that God is in control. So that others will take that step of faith and

The subject of the book, author’s purpose and intended audience: The history of Christian thought in the modern era was a quest of today’s Christian. Faith in a multi-denominational society decreases a sense of belonging. Since the Enlightenment some
The principles are for continual growth and elevation for Christians. The instructions in The Bible are not only for guidance is a comforting and strengthening agent. Given this statistic, this could be an additional reason why God created mankind in His image to take part in on other wonderful helpful contributions. Highlighting the difference between a secular worldview and a biblical worldview, the incorporation of belief and doctrine, theories of vocation and efforts for living righteously is proven to be an influential lifesaving
Christianity is a faith based religious tradition, of which the follower is considered to be a Christian adherent. Thus, being a living tradition, Christianity is continually subject to change in accordance to the needs of the adherent and reaffirming the Christian tradition within a contemporary context. The aspects, which attribute the present existence of Christianity and its dynamism therein, include sacred texts and writings, ritual and ceremonies, beliefs and believers, and ethics. Ultimately, the aforementioned characteristics strive to form and continually validate answers to the enduring questions of life through a process of change, which simultaneously highlights Christianity as a living tradition.
Living religious traditions are integrated meaning systems which provide adherents with comprehensive and distinctive answers to the enduring questions of human existence. Religious traditions are ultimately shaped and reformed by the actions of the individuals who practices the faith. In a contemporary Christian environment, prominent practices to have a significant contribution to Christianity as a living religious tradition are Baptism and the works of Pope John XXIII. The significant practice of Baptism, as a central element of Christianity, is an initiation of adherents to a “discipleship” with Christ as well as a reinforcement of the community’s relationship with God. Furthermore, the development and expression of the Christian tradition

Before attending GCU and using the sources that they provide, I normally would use resources and tools that were provided by various universities. Two notable examples that I would use where Purdue University's OWL and also Calvin College's KnightCite. OWL is a particularly helpful source since it offers a wide variety of articles regarding various topics that play a key role within successful writing. KnightCite was also a source I widely used because of the fact that it was a great way in order to get MLA (which I used in high school) citations for works used in my papers. However, nowadays I mainly use the sources provided by GCU such as the writing center which I have found to be quite helpful. In particular, I enjoy the templates provided
The message of my work is to try and highlight the importance of showing how a person’s faith can have a positive and life-changing impact on their lives. I have done this by looking into the lives of two early Christian missionaries and portray how they would 've felt about their journeys, who they met and what they were teaching others. In doing so, I try to portray, to the best of my ability and knowledge, the apostle 's thoughts and just how strong their conviction and faith in God was.
Christianity experienced many pitfalls along the path to fulfillment. As in history, today we find ourselves learning Christ’s lessons
To know Jesus Christ is the best thing that can happen in a person life. It transforms your mind, body and sprint. I have picked the following three topics to share my experiences of knowing Jesus Christ. First, what can your local church do to better communicate God’s love to your community? Second, why are personal testimonies important in sharing the gospel? Third, Did Jesus claim to be God? These are the three topics that always spark my interest when talking about our Lord savoir Jesus Christ.
My dad used to tell me all the time that we are all a work in progress. At the time I didn’t know exactly know what he meant. As years have passed on and my relationship with Christ matured, I now know what he meant. We as children of God can never be perfect, but what we can do is strive to be like Christ, this is what the definition of a Christian is, “Christ like”. I try to share the good news of Jesus, and when I do I like to talk to people about God’s Grace and through his son Jesus there is no Condemnation.
The purpose of this book is meant to create a foundation for Christian lifestyles. It addresses the origin of Christian values, and portrays the evolution of Christian worldviews throughout history. It briefly explains the biblical narrative and develops ideas in which Christians are able to live out their faith and deal with other worldviews existing in our world today.
In a contemporary Christian environment one of the most prominent practices to have a significant contribution to Christianity as a living religious tradition is Baptism. Baptism is of utmost importance for most Christian denominations. It has profound significance for the individual who is baptised and is also important for the Christian community as a whole. As a sacrament of initiation, Baptism calls its adherents to become missionary Disciples of Christ. It is through baptism that one’s faith journey begins and Christians are called to follow and live their lives in the light of Christ.
The demonstration of Christian virtues: by unity within the church, and recognition of God’s glory through Christ.
Jesus explains in John 5:39 that all scripture points to him. All throughout the Old Testament are foreshadowing stories filled with the Gospel of Christ, prophecies that the Messiah will fulfill, wisdom of God’s character, and songs that exemplify the heart of our savior. On some occasions, Jesus quoted the Old Testament to specifically highlight a central theme that he was trying to portray to his people. We find an example in Matthew 27:46 when Jesus was close to death on the cross and professed the words, “Eli, Eli, Lema sabchtani?” Our English Bibles inform us that these words meant, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” At first thought, the reader may assume that Jesus exclaimed these words solely because of the current suffering he was facing, but Jesus did and said everything with intentionality. If you read in the book of Psalms, you may find yourself encountering this same statement in Psalm 22. The Psalm, written by David, begins with “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” If Jesus’ last words before he died were the first line of a Psalm, there must be major significance in that referenced chapter of scripture. The remainder of this paper will focus on the exegesis of Psalm 22, with an emphasis on the Hebrew words, “Eli, Eli, lema sabchtani?” By breaking down this passage of Old Testament scripture, our minds will unlock a new perspective on the fullness of Jesus’ last words taken from Psalm 22.
