My attendance through high school has been great. I’ve missed school for medical appointments or family emergencies. One day of absence can affect you and your grade if something was missed. In the entire semester I was unable to attend two sessions due to sickness, but I knew what had to be done and due the next class which is what is important. I was also try a hand full of times but never to the point where I missed something important being said or assignments being given. I strongly believe that high school students should not have skipped or ditched class. There are plenty of reasons why you shouldn’t be late to class staring with the most important thing, you can miss vital information about the lecture. For example let’s say you have a major test coming up and your professor is gracious enough to give you the answers for the test or decides that since you showed up to class you get an automatic A. You can also miss the review to a quiz or test, and you can miss a pop quiz which could’ve helped bump up your grade if you were failing or if you just needed that extra boost. Missing a test or quiz can do some major damage to your grade easily, I’m speaking from experience.

You are responsible for remembering important deadlines, as your parents will not be communicating with your professors, and will have no idea when your assignments are due. I have been taking online classes and also on campus. While I like the online classes, I also like going on the campus. When I take online classes, I have the freedom of working on my calendar and organize my day the way I want to. That way I am more comfortable to take on the tasks. I also like going to classes on campus, because I can talk to the professor, ask questions, and debate in real-time. I don’t see any difference in my performance when going on campus and taking a class online. Last semester I was taking IS432 and the professor's attendance policy was that we need to send him an email that we will not be attending. He only required attendance for the project presentation, quizzes, and exam. I missed 3 classes, because of work related issues. Generally, if we missed 3 classes we can lose our attendance points and technically I can’t get an A

It is absolutely vital that you attend class regularly. Missing a class should be a rare occurrence; something that happens at most once or twice a semester. If you miss class more than this, it will interfere with your learning and have a negative affect your performance and your grade.
