A single word can hold much power. It can lead to death. It can break one’s heart. One word that comes out of your mouth may affect a person so much. Thirteen Reasons Why is a story that teaches a valuable lesson that is true for even a modern teen: a single word you say can cause a person’s life to end. In Thirteen Reasons Why, the author uses conflict to teach us the actual results of what will happen based on how we treat people and what a simple comment can lead to. For example, Hannah Baker said, “I hope you're ready, because I'm about to tell you the story of my life. More specifically, why my life ended. And if you're listening to these tapes, you're one of the reasons why.” This example, tells us that people do cause other people to end their life no matter how much you think it won’t affect them. Additionally, the rumor Justin started made a huge impact, “I know what you're thinking. As I was telling the story, I was thinking the same thing. A kiss? This book is so eye opening, it makes you realize how much words affect others. In this book there’s a quote that says, “You can’t rewrite the past.”. This means that whatever you said, has been said, you can’t do anything about it. “No one knows for certain how much impact they have on the lives of other people.” This teaches people to think before they act, think about how much it could affect them. Overall, this novel would make a great impact on your life so I suggest you to read it! Every word you say to someone will lead to something. That “something” may be positive or it may be negative. Think before you do anything or say anything. Even teens today are attempting suicide or having those thoughts of suicide because of what a person said to them. Before you speak, think about how what you’re gonna say could affect this
