What were the 3 major causes of WW2? Justify your choices. • The Treaty of Versailles • Hitler and the Nazi Party • Failure of the League of Nations I chose these causes because from searching around the internet these three reasons were in just about every single list. Another reason I chose these was because I found these areas interesting to research and it helped me understand the back story to the war more. Treaty of Versailles The Treaty of Versailles ended the First World War between Germany and the allied powers. Because Germany had lost the war, the treaty was very harsh and unforgiving against Germany. Germany was forced to “accept the responsibility” of starting the war and had to pay the allies a whopping 6,600 million pounds, which at the time was a staggering amount of money. The problem of the treaty was that it left Germany and its economy in ruins. People were starving and the government was in chaos. Hitler and the Nazi Party Generally referred to in English as the ‘Nazi Party’, it was a political party with extreme views in Germany that were pushing the ideology of Nazism from 1920 to 1945. The Germans were going crazy for somebody to make their lives better and to change their economy and re-establish their national pride and Hitler offered to make Germany great again. Hitler ignored the restrictions put on Germany from the Treaty of Versailles. While talking about peace, Hitler slowly rearmed Germany. He allied Germany with Italy with Mussolini. He
