Time, what is time, and why is it important? Well time is a concept that humans’ brains can perceive, in fact their brains basically construct the past, the present, and the future. Basically, time is a measurement system, and without it the human race wouldn’t have ever existed. Humans have a very simple understanding of time, and they still do not understand its full potential. Humans only understand the measurement of time, and the manipulation and capturing of time overwhelms them. To this day the only way humans have captured time is their memory, and even then they still get it wrong sometimes.

Time management techniques are essential to living your life more efficiently. Many people spend their days in a frenzy of activity but achieve very little because they are not concentrating on the right things. By using time management skills, you can learn to determine which of the things you do are important, which can be dropped, use your time in the most effective way possible, break down the roadblocks that waste it, and increase the effectiveness.

Time is a valuable resource, and in fact, some people get more out of their time than others. Time is a scarce resource meaning that there is not enough of the resource available to satisfy all of the ways I want to use it. Due to the fact that it is scarce, this means that my time must be allocated in such a way that I can get the most out of it. Being a full time student, working part-time, and playing college athletics is a tough feat. In fact, most of the time I struggle in deciding what to do and when. What I choose to do is a demonstration of my value system and some things are valued more than others.

Thomas Jefferson once said, ¨Time is really the only capital that any human being has and the only thing he can afford to lose¨. What he is saying is that you should use your time wisely. By using your time wisely you can have more free time, feel less stressed, and even get your work done and go to two football games in the same week. Managing your time is the best thing you can do for yourself and your sanity.

Timing is everything they say, well what exactly is time? So I decided to do some research and look up the definition on Oxfords Dictionaries to see what the exact meaning of time is. Time is the “indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole” it also means “a point of time as measured in hours and minutes past midnight or noon” (Oxfords Dictionaries). The thought about time and the concept of it came to my mind today because it actually happened to be the last day of daylight savings. It made me wonder what is time and does it really exist and why do we have daylight savings. Is time something created by man or nature, or could it all just be an illusion inside your brain.

The concept of time is a phenomenon that has been met with much discourse, but is also an invaluable commodity. I began to understand how much of a commodity time is when I was in seventh grade. That was the year my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I witnessed a man recovering from bankruptcy, struggling to support a family with five children, while attempting to pass his medical board exams, defeat all odds. By the end of that year all of those obstacles were no more, and with the help of my mother they were able to move us out of that socioeconomic environment. Time is changing our way of living. We all think, Time is the key to success. Everything is based and control by time. In order words, time controls this world. “Time and the Machine” by Aldous Huxley and “A Blizzard under Blue Sky” by Pam Houston, both of these authors tell how time is changing our lives.

Time is the continuation of events, whether this be in the past, present or future. Time has been found to have different consistencies depending on variables, two of these variables have been found to be gravity and velocity, which both have an effect on time. The effect of this can be seen by looking into space, or more exactly, space stations, it was found that clocks on a space station run differently than clocks on the surface of earth, although the time difference is incredibly small, about a tenth of a second after a year, the effect is still observable.

Time. Is it an illusion? Or is it real? These two questions have been debated many times by philosophers all around the world but they have yet to give a certain answer. Everyday, we use the concept of time to measure how long an event is, to tell someone when to do what and to place your events of the day in order. We are constantly using the perception of time in our sentences, but is time actually real? I personally think that time is an illusion. I believe this because time is simply something that gives order to our events, we do not progress in time and that time is simply an illusion created by us.

I try to devote my time to something I am passionate about at a given a moment, while reasonably keeping in mind all of my outstanding priorities. There is no telling where some devotion of time might lead. I try not to miss any opportunities which I might regret not taking later. I don’t consider deviating from the plans which I sometimes set at the beginning of the day as “wasteful”. The only thing standing in the way of using time wisely is spending it on something that gets in the way of your ability to make the most of future opportunities.

Time is subjective, but real. The most direct knowledge we have of time is subjective. Time is a continuous process, it involves a sense of passage. The very essence of time as most directly, most concretely experienced, is the continuous unbroken passage of existence.
