We all have them—bad days. Especially with the holidays here, tiffs with relatives or your patience thinning while braving the shopping crowds are bound to come up. How, exactly, do we turn our less-than-stellar moods around and stay sane? The Tiny Buddha blog suggests everything from turning on a song that makes you happy to deep breathing to writing down what is bothering you, then writing down something you are grateful for. Their blog also suggests signing out of Facebook. (Can you do it?!) “Many studies have shown that checking social media can actually trigger depression because we often compare ourselves to our peers, creating feelings of inadequacy and doubt,” Tiny Buddha said. “Heavily limit your exposure to your Facebook or Twitter feed… Keep in mind that most people are always going to put their best foot forward, so don’t compare your insides to somebody else’s outsides.” …show more content…
(Btw, if you have never read the Tiny Buddha books—like Tiny Buddha: Simple Wisdom for Life’s Hard Questions and Tiny Buddha’s Guide to Loving Yourself—I suggest ordering them now for you or loved ones who could use them. I reread mine constantly.) Therapists, too, feel changing your negative mood around is all about action. “Change your chemistry, and you’ll change your life,” said clinical psychologist Deborah Serani, Psy.D, and author of Living with Depression. “When a murky mood hits, I always try to do something to shift my neurochemistry.” Doing something active “increases dopamine and oxytocin, feel-good hormones,” she said. Serani also focuses on the five senses to feel better, via things like music, eating something, lighting a candle, and using essential oils on her temples and wrists. Still in bad spirits? Supervisors and managers can encourage their employees to do things such as exercise (Wong, 2016) to help improve their mood, especially during significantly stressful times. Kinicki and Fugate (2016) wrote that emotions are products of our thoughts, behaviors, and experiences. They also wrote about some specific things we can do to manage our thoughts and behaviors to experience more positive emotions: manage expectations, take time to plan and organize, give a gift to other people, deflect partisan conversations, assume people have good intentions, focus on the job in front of you, and end the day with gratitude (Kinicki & Fugate,
The more we use social media, the less happy we seem to be. Many people would agree that social media leads to isolation, depression, and anxiety. Social Media impacts people in many ways; some are good, but some are very bad. Using social media to communicate is extremely convenient, unfortunately, more people are developing social anxiety because we are learning to comunicate through a screen from a young age. Also, seeing people posting about all the good in their lives can lead you to compare yourself to others. Most importantly, increased exposure of bullying through the internet contributes to high risk of depression. Generally, social media has more bad effects on our mental health than good ones.

“The Middle-Length Disclosure of the Buddha” is about how Buddha created the new community of Buddhism, or Jainism. He left his house in the middle of the night to find out the suffering going on in the human life. This reading is a little confusing for some students in our class because it is just the highlights of the real Buddhism. I believe in Hinduism, and Buddhism is kind of same as Hinduism. I have some knowledge about Buddhism.
Usually when i am feeling depressed or having a bad day, i feel i want to be isolated and want to take a stroll in a treadmill or at the park. Taking a stroll alone usually freshens my mind and clears my depression because it meditates my brain and makes me think clearly.

“Hatred does not cease in the world by hating, but by not hating; this is an eternal truth.” This philosophy quoted from Buddha is only one of his many great teachings that inspire people all over the world to live their lives in a loving and respectful manner. The Buddha influences so much because he was such a great man. He sacrificed a kingdom, wife, and child in order to pursue Nirvana and find enlightenment. HE invoked the Dhamma, and spread his ‘pro-life’ principals to all who would listen.
