There has been many leaders throughtout the world. Some were better than others. We all provide something unique to this world, but what makes some leaders great? Suleiman, Nelson Mandela, and queen Elizabeth I exhibited the characteristics of great leaders, by being loved by their people and by being devoted.

History is brimming with striking characters. Whether they were honorable or unrepentant in their pursuits, those characteristics were what made them undying, distinctive individuals, from the beginning of written history. Throughout time, there have been innumerable accounts of successful and effective leaders that present the characteristics of a proactive leader. Nonetheless, there have indubitably also been bad leaders in history, such as, those who do not possess the qualities which are needed for a successful, yet effective leader. History is inevitable, and the influences on mankind are unavoidable, be they good or bad, we all inherit the consequences of it.

From the vantage point of the present, it is easy to look back at the tenure of any great leader and draw conclusions about just what it was that made him/her great. We can examine the circumstances under which their leadership flourished; piece together what we know of their character and personality traits; delve into the factors that may have driven them; and dissect their leadership style all in an effort to pinpoint the source of their success. Many people would not hear the words “good leader” and “Adolf Hitler” in the same sentence. Nor would anyone usually say that Mahatma Gandhi was an aggressive leader. Both past leaders show many similar leadership qualities, but the way they broadcasted their ideologies diverges severely. Many world leaders possess the qualities of authority, but none can quite be a perfect commander. In fact, there is no such thing as a perfect leader. No commander can perfectly lead a division into battle, and no chief can perfectly manage his tribe. For every strength of a good leader, a flaw exists. There is no impeccable image of a leader.

What is leadership, and how do we attain the best and most effective leaders? These are questions that are as old as civilization itself. Bass (1974) wrote that, “from its infancy, the study of history has been the study of leaders” (as cited in Wren, 1995, p. 50). Since the study of history in the West is commonly held to begin with Herodotus of ancient Athens, it is not surprising that we should examine the historical views of leadership through the eyes of two titans of Greek thought: Plato and Aristotle.

Thesis: In my examination to identify leaders that characterized the attributes that represent pioneering, energizing, deliberate, resolute, commanding, affirming, and inclusive dimensions of leadership, I have chosen Nefertiti, Cleopatra VII, and Hatshepsut of Egypt.

This case involved Sultana Sultan being a danger to herself and others. Sultan was transported by Pasadena RA 33 to the Huntington Memorial Hospital Emergency Room (HMH), where she was placed on a WIC 5150 hold.

A leader is a person who has the ability to lead or command an entire group of people, a leader is someone who is followed by other people. Being a leader is a wonderful privilege, it is something that is not necessarily handed to an individual nor is it something that can be bought, leadership is something that is earned. Becoming a strong, influential leader is determined by an array of factors, as well as who we are as people. Our most inner being holds the key to whether or not we are destined to become successful leaders. Culture and society also play a powerful role in our leadership style. It is thought that various styles of leadership have varied effects on leadership practice and results. Regardless of our natural abilities, there will always be room for change, growth, and overall becoming a more effective leader.

When sifting through history, books, and movies, it’s extremely hard to find a person who truly exemplifies a perfect leader. Each one invariably always has at least one flaw that they have to overcome to accomplish their task as leader. Whether that flaw is arrogance, insecurity, stubbornness, and/or many more, it ails them from guiding their people at some point in their life. However, regardless of the flaws many leaders have, there are still many great leaders out there, whether they are “good” or “bad.” Many of their flaws they have are outweighed by their great leadership skills and strong personalities. An example of a leader who is not even close to perfect, but he achieves so much through his leadership skills, is Ralph, a leader in Lord of the Flies.

Throughout history there have been a variety of leaders that have been both successful in bringing their country to power, or completely bringing it into shambles. There are three very important leaders that were very successful in benefiting their country throughout history, and they also have many similarities. These leaders are Suleiman the Magnificent, Nelson Mandela, and Queen Elizabeth I. These leaders were all very intelligent, had a positive impact on their country, and also were very liked by their people.

Numerous books and articles happen to be discussed leaders, who made choices that performed significant effects on the country and also the world. Leaders in the military, business community and sports have performed crucial impacts in route we live our way of life. Their legacy’s survive in giving others the inspiring and inspirational drive to get great leaders.

In order for a leader to be a leader he/she must begin with the assumption that you are the one who matters most. As a leader you have to possess that level of confidence in yourself that you are capable of leading yourself “before you can lead others”. And when you develop this belief then you are better able of affirmative influence “on others”.

In shaping my personal theory, I sought out my own definition of leadership. To do this, reflected on some of the leaders I admired such as Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Martin Luther King Jr., Barack Obama, Indira Gandhi, and Mahatma Gandhi, Why did I admire them?
