This ship is called the “unsinkable” Titanic. It had the ability to take people everyday but one day something terrible happened… One day, a long time ago there was a ship. It wasn’t any regular ship, it was a huge ship and it was called the Titanic. It traveled port to port but it didn't reach one before it was about to arrive it hit an iceberg… It was really shocking to people the ship split in half people were terrified. Sinking occurred April 15th, 1912, time 2:20am location North Atlantic Ocean. What happened and why you may ask? i’ll tell you. They all say it was the driver going too fast and didn’t see it, but that's just what they say.. There were also many deaths associated with the titanic. The boat was carrying 2,223 passengers
on its maiden voyage in 1912 the British ocean liner titanic sank after ramming an iceberg in the north atlantic ocean. the nearest ship the California did not get the SOS message because the radio operator had gone to bed and turned off his radio. the titanics captain Edward j smith knew that there were only enough lifeboats for half the 2100 people on board in the panic even those were not filled. seventeen year old jack Thayer from Philadelphia was not lucky enough to get into a lifeboat but as the titanic slid into the water, he dived from its deck into the ice waters coming upon an overturned lifeboat he hung on until the carpathian came to his rescue at dawn more than 1500 other people were not so
Most people thought that the Titanic was unsinkable, but they couldn’t have been any further from the truth. The Titanic’s maiden voyage in the early 1900s was cut short due to a collision with an iceberg. The Titanic was a tragic event that helped change sailing for years to come because of the massive casualties and the sinking of an unsinkable ship.
Because the crew of the Titanic did not listen to the warnings sent by other ships, the Titanic hit an iceberg at eleven-forty p.m. The scouts of the ship saw the iceberg about thirty seconds before the ship’s starboard (right) side scraped against it. If the Titanic was going slower, then the crew would have been able to turn the ship around the iceberg. The crew and the passengers were not too worried, though. The Titanic was built so that it was “unsinkable”. There were compartments on the sides of the ship that would hold water if the ship were to get any holes. Then, the whole ship found out that there were not enough compartments to hold all of the water gushing into the hull. At eleven-fifty p.m., fourteen feet of seawater was filled inside of the Titanic. Most of the crew was shocked by how much water was entering the Titanic that they started to panic as the ship started to tilt forward.
On April 14th, 1912, the Titanic set sail and crashed into an iceberg. About 705 passengers were rescued but 1500 died that night by freezing in the waters or sinking with the ship.
April 15, 1912 the “unsinkable” Titanic had almost three hours before it was no longer afloat, but plunged to the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean. Blueprints, journal & logs, and tons of witnesses were thoroughly inspected over the past 100 years to help solve the question agonizing question, why. For the 100-year remembrance of the tragic event, Smithsonian Channel released a documentary, Titanic’s Final Mystery. Dedicated Titanic detective and historian, Tim Maltin releases his theory on how the “unsinkable” sank.
The “unsinkable” Titanic’s maiden voyage was a disaster because she split in two from crashing into an iceberg. 1,517 people died from the horrible tragedy, only 706 people survived.
“The ship had watertight compartments that would allow her to float indefinitely” According to Robert Ballard in Exploring The Titanic. Although, this accusation was unfortunately far from the truth. These compartments quickly filled and abolished the idea of “watertight”, like domino's they flooded one after another The question then is: Who is responsible for the Titanic's sinking that sent 1,500 innocent people to a watery grave?. The consequences of Bruce Ismay and Thomas Andrews faulty design may have been the downfall of this “Unsinkable” ship.
The Titanic had one trip to do but during that trip a iceberg cut the ship on the side.
On the 12th day of April 1912 the R.M.S Titanic struck an iceberg to causing it to
Mr Johan Henrik Johannesson Kvillner died in the sinking of the Titanic, his body was found #165. According to Baldwin, who wrote “R.M.S. Titanic”, approximately over 400 people died in the sinking of the Titanic. By keeping count of how many lives were lost, does it ever come to one’s mind how many lives could have been saved. Kvilner was #165 meaning that there was 164 people men, women, and children who died before him and over 300 after him. Meaning that the sinking of the ship was not only caused by an iceberg collision, but also by the arrogance and unawareness of the crewmember causing many lives to be taken for example, Mr. Johan Henrik Johannesson Kvillner.
"Come see the unsinkable ship!” the townspeople cried out. They were, of course, talking about the White Star Line’s newest vessel, the Titanic. At eight hundred eighty-three feet long and ninety-two feet wide, the Titanic’s first voyage was packed full, starboard to port, with two thousand, two hundred, twenty-eight people on board. There were three hundred thirty-seven people in first class, two hundred eighty-five in second class, seven hundred twenty-one people in third class, and eight hundred eighty-five crew members. Even without the people, the Titanic weighed 46,328 tons. The vessel was one hundred and four feet in height and had twenty lifeboats. The architect, Thomas Andrews, was aboard the ship during its first and last catastrophic trans-Atlantic voyage.
Titanic was equipped to be able to carry 64 lifeboats, Captain planned to carry 40, but only 20 lifeboats were carried on board. With 2,223 people on board and only 20 life boats with a maximum capacity of 40 to 65 people per boat. Twenty life boats was no were near enough for that many people. Sixteen out of the twenty lifeboats that were on board made it into the water. It took 80 minutes to dispatch 16 lifeboats and they were not even close to being full.
The RMS Titanic; A Tragedy Based on Class. In April, 1912, the so called "unsinkable" Titanic set sail to New York. The great ship was as big as five city blocks, and weighed thousands and thousands of tons. Everyone who was everyone grabbed a room on the luxurious ship for the trip of a lifetime. On April 14, 1912, the RMS Titanic struck an iceberg an sank into the icy depths of the North Atlantic.
On the 15th of April 1912, an unspeakable tragedy happened when the Titanic was destroyed on the way to New York City. A large titanic ship was not made ice berg proof so when it drove straight into the ice berg it sunk to the bottom of the water in 1 hour and a half. The 2,200 passengers, who died alongside the ship, died of coldness and some died of no food. The ship never reached its destination in New York City.
When analyzing this disaster the first thing to consider is the engineer’s design of the Titanic. The Titanic was employing many new and innovative designs that were believed to make the Titanic the safest ship ever built at that time. The engineer’s of the vessel made claims that the Titanic was “unsinkable” and that “even in the worst possible accident at sea, the ship should have stayed afloat for two to three days.” One of the features that lead them to this claim was the 16 watertight compartments in the hull of the ship. The way they were designed allowed for up to four compartments to be breached and they ship would still carry
