What is Body Mass Index?
By definition, Body Mass Index is a measurement representing the ratio of a person’s body weight to his or her height. The BMI describes the body weight relative to height, and it correlates strongly (in adults) with the total body fat content.
A body mass index of less than 20 is considered to be underweight, while a body mass index between 20 and 25 is considered healthy. A body mass index in the range of 25 to 30 is regarded as overweight. A body mass index over 30 is regarded as obese. A body mass index of 100 or greater is regarded as morbidly obese.

This meal contains 15 grams of fat, 274mg sodium, 47grams of carbs and 31 grams of protein.
This meal contains high-in-protein foods such as Tofu and Peanut Butter. It also contains Omega-3 Fatty Acid foods such as Salmon and berries.
Total Number of Calories in this meal is 1,437. Saving approximately 500 calories per day and incorporating some exercise will allow me to lose weight and lower my Body Mass Index.
Exercise Regimen
I have developed the following exercise regimen to remain active at least 1 hour a day, for at least 5 days a week:
Lunges – approximately 15 minutes of this exercise can burn approximately 500 calories.
Bicycling – approximately 25 minutes of biking can burn approximately 1100 calories.
Stretching – In an effort to increase flexibility, which will help with the short- and long-term effects of moderate workouts, I will perform approximately 10 minutes of stretching before and after workouts. This will also burn approximately 200 calories.
In total, based on a 1400-1600 calorie diet, and an exercise regimen that burns approximately 1800 calories, I can anticipate losing approximately 1-2 pounds a week.

Obesity is usually defined by using the body mass index (BMI). A persons BMI is worked out by dividing the persons weight in kilograms by their height in meters squared. To be classified as obese a person’s BMI will be equal to or over 30. (CDC, 2015)
Individuals with a body mass index of 30 or higher are considered to be obese. Body max index is the way you are able to calculate a person’s health conditions based on their height and weight.
According to my calculations, I have a BMI of 27.6 which puts me in the category of being overweight. A person my age and height should have and ideal weight ranging from 160lbs to 175lbs. Many risk factors that are associated with being overweight includes, coronary heart disease, hypertension, stroke, type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, cancer, osteoarthritis, and sleep apnea. I consider myself a healthy overweight person because BMI cannot dictated everyone healthy state such as body builders; I perform similar workouts to body builders so I am at my BMI goal.
Obesity, or being overweight, is a common problem today. Walk down any street in America and a large majority of people seen will be overweight or obese. Obesity is determined by a measure of body mass index (BMI), which is an indicator of fat content in the body. The BMI score can be obtained by dividing weight in pounds (multiplied by 703) by height in inches squared. A BMI of 25 to 29.9 is considered overweight while a BMI of 30 or more indicates that one is obese. Being overweight affects nearly one third of the population of the United States, with another one third obese, and a portion of those are considered morbidly obese (a BMI of 40 or more). This statistic includes adults, adolescents, and school-aged children. Glassman, Glassman,
BMI (Body Mass Index) is the value derived from weight and height of an individual. Having a BMI value of 25-30 is considered overweight and >30 is considered obese.
My recommended calorie intake was 2000 calories a day and my average calorie consumption was 1613 Calories. I feel that the calorie intake was ok but I will be making an effort to eat an extra snack like a piece
2. The fat, salt, sugar and fibre content of our breakfast reflected the suitability of our dish to the Australian Dietary Guidelines. In total the meal contained 25grams of fat, 775.54mg of salt and 13grams of fibre. The average daily requirements of fat is 70grams, our meal was 1/3 of that, salt is 2,300 mg our breakfast was just under 1/3 of the daily requirements and the average for dietary fibre is 30grams and our breakfast was 13 grams just under 1/2 of the nutrient requirements. Our meal contained no added sugar or salt. By grilling the tomatoes and mushrooms we reduced the fat as we did not cook in a pan with oil. Though we increased the fat by cooking the omelette with oil and we reduced the fat by using reduced fat milk.
Limit the amount of empty calorie consumption into twice a week and no more than 260 calories per serving, as the MyPlate food guide recommendeda.

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a method of measuring obesity by dividing the height of an individual by his or her weight. Although BMI indirectly measures fat in the body, BMI correlates with the amount of body fat and is a convenient measurement. Athletes in particular have a BMI with an obesity measurement due to lean muscle mass, not fat mass. In adults, a BMI within the range of 18.5 and 24.9 is healthy, between 25 and 29.9 is overweight, and above 30 is obese (10, 12).
4. How many days per week do you get 30+ minutes of physical activities. What are your favorite activities? What are your physical activity goals and how will you meet your goals (Minimum 1 goal)?
To determine what is considered a healthy weight, a body mass index (BMI) is used to measure an individual’s height and weight and estimates body fat as a determinant of potential risks for diseases (Akabas, Lederman, & Moore, 2012; Morrill & Chinn, 2004). BMI less than 18.5 is recognized as underweight, 18.5 to 24.9 is within normal weight and is categorized as a healthy weight, 25 to 29.9 is overweight, 30 to 34.9 is mild obesity, 35 to 39.9 is moderate obesity, and 40 and over is severe obesity (Akabas, Lederman, & Moore, 2012; Jones, 2006; NIH, 2015; Reville, 2006). Currently, one in three adults in the United States are obese, increasing potential for health risks such as heart disease, diabetes high blood pressure
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measurement tool used to determine excess body weight. Overweight is defined as a BMI of 25 or more, obesity is 30 or more, and severe obesity is 40 or more. Overall the problem stems from the general citizens lack of work ethic; in recent years that ethic has declined severely. It is the inability or flat out unwillingness to work and/or struggle to get what you want. The table below highlights the increasing obesity problem.
These include obesity, diabetes, and several heart conditions. Obesity is the term used for someone who qualifies as significantly overweight. A BMI (Body Mass Index) records weight in relation to height. A BMI of 25 is overweight and a BMI of 30 is obese. Obesity is not a disease in its self but it can lead to different health issues, some fatal. Obesity can be related to eighty percent of type two diabetes, seventy percent of cardiovascular disease, thirty percent to gall bladder surgeries, and forty two percent to breast and colon cancer. Unfortunately, obesity rates in people are rising rapidly. The United States alone had an obesity rate of twenty six percent in 2007. Some cases of obesity are gene related, but most other cases are a result of improper dieting and exercise among the individual ("Why Is Proper Nutrition Important?", Case Western Reserve University).
