What makes a world leader so pronounced? To start, a leader is someone who can stand up and make a change for the better in the world. The qualities that a world leader should possess would be the ability to motivate, good judgement skills, sense of urgency, and the ability to listen to other’s concerns (Oswald, 2014). Having a leader possess all of these qualities can ensure that the world, or country, is going to be led in the right direction. With all these qualities being said, it is shown that Martin Luther King Jr. possesses all of these traits. Great leaders like Dr. King himself, often have to deal with a time and life consuming bums on the road to success, in which he did. All of these bumps prepared Martin Luther King Jr. to be one of the greatest leaders in the world.

Leadership and listening are complementary of each other, not independent to the other (Simmons, 2011). Not only does improved listening build one’s ability to read, speak, and effectively write, listening is the framework upon which reading and writing aptitude build upon (Wallace, 2013). To be a leader, one must have certain traits that contribute, in a good way, to their leadership. An example could be persistence. What is a leader without persistence, what would be the point of them doing anything at all? Bravery is another valuable trait to have. In order to be a leader, you must be brave enough to stand for what you believe in and what you want to change, even when the outcome may seem bleak. One more essential trait: motivation. A leader simply cannot be a leader if no one is motivated to follow them.
