Track is an extremely interesting sport to runners. The amount of thrill during a race beats everything from a rollercoaster to skydiving. Everything seems irrelevant in a race. The only thing on a runner's mind during a race is finishing as best as possible. The most important thing to do going into a race is prepare yourself. You need to warm up, drink a lot of water, and build up confidence. Warming up can be done however you want, but building confidence for a race can be difficult, however, it is truly the most important thing. Going into a race assuming you are going to lose completely ruins your chance at winning. The meet I realized this in was the New York CIty meet at the armory. “BRING BRING BRING” my alarm clock screamed, warning …show more content…
I was extremely nervous to leave, and was just hoping that something would go wrong. I always get this way before an important race, but this time was different. Our previous years of running at this track made the whole experience bad. “You ready Thomas?” my friend Zach asked. “Of course not, today’s gonna suck” I replied. We both remembered the last time we went. “Probably not gonna be allowed to run the fifty five again, and I hate warming up there.” “You don't love warming up next the the open door bathrooms?” “Dude it smells like crap. Why does the best track have the worst organization and the worst everything else.” I was starting to get a little heated in my rant about the place. Zach realized this and decided it would be best to go to his class. The problem in the New York City armory isn't that we aren't allowed to warm up efficiently, but the organization. Every year our coach puts every sprinter in the fifty five, two hundred, and four hundred meter races. The issue arises when the meet director calls the fifty five and the four hundred at the same time. Well almost the same time. They trick you every year by calling the four hundred first and then they call the fifty five right after everyone is lined up already for the four hundred. My nervousness just continued to increase as I thought more and more about the troubles I had last
Track is a sport consisting of numerous competitive events for people to select from; there is one for everyone. For instance, hurdles is an event that has multiple different distances one can choose from ranging from sprints to distance. If running and jumping is a talent that is possessed, long jump is a great event. Relays are another event, where one group competes with other groups at long and short distance sprinting. Normally, relay teams consist of four man/women group and each individual runs one hundred meters or four-hundred meters. Also, if long-distance running is a dream that is held, along with enjoy running. There is an area for that consisting of one mile and two mile race distances. For those,
“Yeah, but you need to make sure that you’re ready no matter what,” Kara replied.
Track & Field since the beginning of time has been a tough activity for everyone that involved themselves in it. When thinking of track there are many different words you think of: Effort, Hard, Endurance, and Talent, but what is often failed to be noticed is the people running it. Track is a sport where you can focus on yourself and you take all the credit for how you do. Track just like every other sport requires dedication, determination, and hard work. Track athletes all differ in looks, accomplishments and how they became famous, but the most popular name to track & field since 2004 is in fact
“No I gotta keep running if not how will I ever run a 5K in under twenty minutes, and if the coach thought we would be sore for the meet he probably wouldn’t have made us run this far.”
Mr. D. has coached at Wabasso for numerous years and has left a lasting impression on all of his runners. Mr. Dudgeon’s main priorities throughout all his years of coaching are to expand and improve his teams and, most importantly, to make sure everyone has fun. For instance, he puts unfathomable amounts of care and time into meticulously designing the perfect workout for each day of practice; he even does the workouts himself before he has our team run them. Furthermore, Mr. Dudgeon always makes sure that we feel prepared for the upcoming meets, and most importantly, he makes sure we are ready to “destroy the competition,” as he says. His infectious love for running, drive for success, and through-the-roof level of care for his athletes helps him build larger and more successful teams every year. To be specific, Mr. D. started with a cross country team composed of five girls and built it up to up to a conference-champion team of 10+ runners in a matter of only three years. The product of Mr. Dudgeon’s labor was a shiny cross country coach of the year plaque. Similarly, in a mere one year's
It is a 2 hour trip to Haywood, OK and are coach made us meet the bus at 5:30 a.m. since it starts at 8:00 a.m., he wanted to be 30 minutes early. After riding 2 hours on the boring bus, we finally made it to the track meet. The track administers give us a hour to warm up running on the track and then the races would begin.
To begin, coaches with any of the sports I listed above look for speed, explosive power, stamina, strength, and determination. This specially applies to Track and Field. Concerning this, there’s one main problem. Athletes only focus on one part of this sport; that focal point is the Track

In general, my junior year track season was arguably one of my best running season in my career for running. But, the city meet 800m race that season shined the brightest out of everything. In Livonia, Michigan, we have three different public high schools. So, once a year we get all the schools together and run a big meet against one another. During this season, I started to get confident in my running ability and ran my race instead of running
The bell rings at 2:06 at Washingtonville High School on a crisp September afternoon. I grab my bag and head to the locker room to change for track. Once outside I look on the old corkboard that’s hung on the shed to see what today’s workout will consist of, and once I see the warm up I can’t help but smile. It’s a 20-minute jog anywhere we want, which for the girl’s team means heading to the trestle.
Track and field, also known as athletics is one of the oldest sports in the history of man. It has been proven throughout history that your economic status or culture don’t keep you from competing. You just have to train hard and give the people something to cheer for. Jesse Owens, the first American in Olympic Track and Field history to win four gold medals in a single Olympiad said it best, "People come out to see you perform and you've got to give them the best you have within you. The lives of most men are patchwork quilts. Or at best one matching outfit with a closet and a laundry bag full of incongruous accumulations. A lifetime of training for just 10 seconds." (Jesse Owens)
This is how I, Chase saved the earth. On this night my family and I are eating supper. It is May 21, 1845. I wait for my plate, and all of a sudden. My mom, dad and little sister yell. Happy birthday Chase! I was so happy. But as soon as I blow out the candle you could hear gunshots. Everyone in the house was shot, but me. Laying on the floor bleeding with bullets in there heads. I didn't know what happened. But when I looked out the window there he is. The king of England is laughing. This king would do something to hurt someone. As they raid my home, I steal at least twenty dollars, and take my weapons. I dash out the door as fast as the speed of sound. Happy twelfth birthday to me ,I guess.
Kino drew back his arm and fling the pearl with all his might. Kino and Juana watched it go, winking and glimmering under the setting sun. They saw a little splash in the distance, and they stood side by side watching the place for a long time.
Running hasn’t been never easy for me espicially in P.E. class at Simpson middle school . even walking in “a single file” with class mates is like a line of marching ants moving accross the campus . I don’t see no point of walking in a single file. Aside from that is me playing basketball with my buddies. When I was in Simpson, I used to play basketball everyday with my friends in the morning and after lunch which we called a recess break. After short amount of time; running, bouncing an orange ball, and more running back and forth, I had hard time keeping up with teammates. What I’d usually do is, standing on the other side of the boundary line to slowly catch my breath once in a while.
