More than 1.3 billion live in extreme poverty and make less than $1.25 a day. This quandary affects poor people because they can’t make a living to sustain themselves. This occurs all over the world making many of close peers live in poverty. My solution to this deals in trillions of dollars but could have a high reward if it's victorious. My solution to this dilemma is that the penniless will receive large amounts of money all over the world making everyone wealthy instead of risking many lives for a few dollars. The bank will mail each resident that has money troubles an abundance amount of money. This solution will help millions of people to live a better life than they are presently. Although it will cost trillions, the will decrease crime
In the United States, Americans are painfully aware that poverty is a massive upsurge. Americans are getting poor and poor by the minute and that’s a problem. In the book “Men We Reaped” Jesmyn Ward explains that society sees our life being worth nothing. If I had the choice to change poverty I would raise the minimum wage so more people would want to work and the money can at least accommodate for a 3 house family with one person working.
People are still living on $2 a day here in the United States. As one of the wealthiest countries in the world, how is it possible for people to live with this little amount of money? I know that I cannot. In $2.00 a Day, Jennifer Hernandez, a single mother with two kids, is a person who lives on $2 a day as she tries to survive and support herself and her kids in the collapsing economy. The minimum wage job for cleaning houses reinforces the cycle of poverty that Jennifer and her kids live in. This cycle of poverty reveals that there needs to be major changes to the economical infrastructure of the United States since the poor cannot get themselves out of poverty even though they actively look for work or have a job.
Poverty starts and ends one step at a time with one person and that person is you. Make a difference that will impact millions of lives and eradicate something that should have been terminated years
Andrew Carnegie wrote The Gospel of Wealth in 1889 describing what he thought to be the responsibilities of the wealthy. Carnegie believed that it was important for the wealthy to set an example by living a modest life. He believed those with wealth should actively engage in using their money to benefit the greater good of the public in enduring ways instead of squandering it on personal indulgences. Rather than giving to charities he sought to “help those who will help themselves; to provide part of the means by which those who desire to improve may do so; to give those who desire to rise the aids by which they may rise; to assist, but rarely or never to do all”. In his essay, Carnegie cites three ways, or “modes”, in which the wealthy can distribute their wealth:
Most individuals know what poverty means; they are aware that there are people who live with almost nothing and struggle to get through each day. However, many, do not fully grasp the concept; they do not understand the extent to which poverty affects the quality of life of the minority. Before watching the documentary “Living on One Dollar”, I, too, was oblivious to the hardships individuals in poor areas of the world endure. This documentary opened my eyes to the reality these people face.
All over the world, there are over 3,000,000,000 people living on less than $3.50 per day. However, even though there are many men, women, and children in our own country who live like this, there are others who live without a care in the world. These people need to take the time to realize that the basic necessities that they take for granted such as plumbing, water, food, and health care, could be the greatest luxury to someone across the world, or maybe even in their own country.
A typical morning for me usually starts with my Apple IPhone going off, telling me to wake up. I get out of my warm bed, chose an outfit from my huge closet of clothes, brush my teeth, walk out of my nice house, get in my 2006 Lincoln LS, and head off to school. Never have I realized that people across the world don’t even know if they will bring money home to feed their children or send them to school. The documentary, Living on One Dollar, showed me the bigger picture of the world. In the movie, Zach Ingrasci, Chris Temple, Ryan Christoffersen, and Sean Leonard traveled to the small, poverty-stricken village of Peña Blanca for a few months. In the movie, the boys picked numbers between zero and nine out of a hat to replicate an unstable income. Whatever number they drew, was the pay the four of them received for the day. Peña Blanca has a population of 300 people. Of the 300, seven out of ten live below the poverty line. The Population of people under the poverty line can improve their quality of life if they worked together as a community instead of individually.

The wealth of the wicked is no longer stored up decree and declare that wealth come to you now. Your words have power and when they are release, they begin to work in the spiritual realm before it shows up in the physical. Jacob’s wealth made Laban’s sons jealous. They began to treat him differently because they wanted want he had.
An estimated three billion of the world’s population subsists on less than U.S. $2 per day, and I unfortunately am part of that statistic. On average, I make less than 2 dollars a day which roughly equates to approximately 700 dollars annually. This means that I cannot afford a house, a car, or any of those luxuries. On a regular day, I would wake up and find some work, most of the time I pick up cans and take them to a recycling center for a miniscule amount of money. After that, I look through the trash cans in order to find resources that people throw away carelessly. I also do subsistence farming to provide food for me and my family. Finally, after a hard day’s worth of work, me and my family look for a safe place to stay for the night,
People who live in poverty work twice as hard as wealthy people because they must do everything they can to survive and support their families. Furthermore, America’s economy today makes it impossible for people to survive on minimum wage (CBS News). Considering that America is a First World country, American citizens should live their lives with abundance and wealth, but fortunately, America has one of the highest poverty rate. Today, America has reached over forty-six million people living in poverty; one out of seven Americans and one out of five children are living impoverished lives (“Who is Poor”). The growing gap between the top one percent and the people living in poverty is affecting almost every aspects of American’s lives, such as education, health, housing, employment, and overall
After completing this project, it has become clear to me that our economic system is not fair and that hard work does not necessarily mean you will make any money. After watching the video that showed wealth distribution in America, I realized the monopoly the top 1% has on wealth and that no matter how hard the bottom 10% tries, they are unlikely to rise substantially in economic class. Our fictional family fell somewhere in the middle percents, meaning that at $2,700 a month, they doing better than a lot of Americans. Putting in 60 hour weeks, the mom would likely likely work harder and longer than those in the top 10% but only make a fraction of what they do. That doesn’t seem fair. The only way this inequality is going to be fixed is take away the power the wealthy has in economic decisions. We have to remove the cap to create more money for the poor and we have to stop allowing the rich to pass policies that make them richer. We need to recognize the economic inequality in our country and actively work towards solving it to help the lower-class families like the one in our scenario live more comfortable
Global distribution of material wealth is a significant ongoing debate in today’s society. Globalization along with social inequality was seen as a direct result of post-colonialism. While some had benefitted from colonialism, others did not. Between two articles, it was proven that cities who failed to benefit from colonialism can thrive due to citizens from beneficial countries. Migrants along with the community were able to benefit financially and economically. Both articles used an observation process for recording data. Finally, migrants in Panama engaged with locals, however, westerners did not socialize with the citizens of India.
Nelson Mandela posited that “overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity; it is an act of justice.” Take a moment to imagine what it would be like to live on less than $2 per day. What would change? What would you lose? Almost a third of humanity’s 7 billion people face this reality daily. With so few resources, much of the world is forced to do without what we consider as basic human rights: health, sanitation, education and employment. Let us come closer to home, if you take a stroll down any main street in Toronto, you will see the evidence of poverty lingering by the number of homeless people on the streets.
Over the past few years, poverty has once again become a major issue in the United States. After all the talk of tax reforms and the implementation of President Obama’s plan to create more jobs, 46 million Americans are still living below the poverty line according to the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. Many believe that the inflation of everyday necessities such as food, housing, transportation, etc. has caused this number to remain so high, and it doesn’t seem to be decreasing any time soon. Americans just don’t have enough money to pay for these things on a daily basis. What do we need in order to fix this problem? The answer is very simple: we need more money. But how can we acquire more green bills? For many of us, earning the amount of money we make now is already hard enough. Making even more money may seem like an impossible task, but it isn’t. I think that the national minimum wage should be raised in order to help diminish America’s level of poverty.
