In Twin Falls, Idaho, three boys have pleaded guilty to felonies in a case that drew national attention. A 5-year old girl was sexually assaulted on June 2, 2016. This took place inside a laundry room in Fawnbook Apartments. One of the boys recorded the whole scene, and even showed it to his parents. Rumors say that the parent celebrated with the boys. The youngest boy was alleged to have touched the girl. The older boys were accused of using a cellphone to record a video of the incident. All three boys were detained; the youngest boy was 7 years old from Iraq. The other two are brothers from Africa, ages 10 and 14. The girl was held at knife point while being raped by the boys. The victim’s family approved of the plea agreements in the assault.

On September 30th, 2015 at approximately 10:00am I, Investigator James Poffel was assigned a case in reference a step-brother performing lewd acts to his step-sister approximately three years ago. The now, 15 year old victim, Ana Carderras, was originally 11 or 12 years old when this occurred. The incident is said to have occurred at a residence in Muskogee city limits, off of Kalamazoo St.
On January 5th, 2017, the Muskogee Police Department began an investigation into the possession and distribution of child pornography, by the suspect, Zackery Perry (“Perry”)(MPD Case #2017-557). Through the investigation and the analysis of electronic evidence that Perry possessed and was collected during a search warrant of his residence, a local juvenile victim was identified as Brooklyn Skelton (“Brooklyn”)(age 7).
On June 5, 2002, at around 2:00 a.m. in an upscale neighborhood in Salt Lake City Utah. Elizabeth Smart a 14 year old girl woke up abruptly from her bed that she shared with her younger sister. She woke up to a man standing there, holding a knife to her neck telling her she had to go with him. He grabbed her and said that he would kill her if she made noise then continued
On May 5th, 1993 three eight year old boys were reported missing in West Memphis, Arkansas. The boys were found the next day, hog tied in a wooded area called “Robin Hood Hills”. After the case had been “thoroughly” investigated, the West Memphis Police announced on the news that they had found the murderers, pointing fingers at Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley and Jason Baldwin, three teenagers who were different from the norm in West Memphis, making it easy for them to be accused. I believe the boys were wrongfully accused of this crime because there is a lack of evidence in the case pointing to the boys, and the crime just seems to convenient for these three to actually pull off.
This is what led the case to be put on trial because the police were too worried about arresting and charging someone for the murder of someone in their community with only the intent of having someone take blame. Due to where the crime was located, this means the boys would be given the death penalty and because the death penalty is intact “the ruling of death penalty must be imposed by a jury and not only a judge”, thus allowing the boys to plead not guilty and proceed with the trail process in order to prove their innocence to the court (Miller, 2014
The first step to improving soccer in Sioux Falls is to better the level of competitive play. This can be done specifically through Dakota Alliance Soccer Club by fixing technical issues. Practice times, indoor facilities, and coaching are three technical fixes that need to be addressed in order to improve Dakota Alliance Soccer Club (DASC). If all three of these issues can see improvement, then DASC will also see improvements and more success.
Recently, a Colorado Supreme court judge overturned a lower judge’s decision to disallow a juvenile boy’s confession to alleged charges of sexual assault. The original ruling judge cited the juvenile’s Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination was being violated, stating that the parent present during the confession did not have her son’s best interests in mind. However, the parent present was also the boy’s mother, who had filed the initial charges when her eleven year old daughter spoke of repeated sexual abuse at the hands of her brother.
The boys also told police about how they stabbed the woman but that didn’t make sense because there weren’t any stab wounds found on the woman. Intense interrogation can bring a suspect, especially a young one, to the irrational conclusion that falsely confessing will improve a dreadful situation but that wasn’t the case. With all these hard compelling sufficient evidence prosecutors still decided to interrogate the boys and then soon after charging and prosecuting the boys. How was that ever fair to these young men?
Child molestation and sexual assault is an ever growing problem in the United States today, but an even bigger problem is that these pedophiles are being released after only serving as little as one quarter of their sentence. In California alone (at the time the bill was first passed), there was an estimated 680 individuals on parole for molestation and other sexual assaults including sodomy by force with a victim under the age of thirteen as well as child molestation with foreign objects.
Sioux Falls is one of the most rapidly growing cities in the United States. The two main things that attract the public are the numerous jobs, and the main two colleges in town. The schools are named USF and Augustana, and they are both Christian based institutions. A lot of the students that attend these colleges, are a part of a denomination. One of the main religions in the area is Catholicism, and there are many different Catholic Churches around town. Each Church offers great opportunities to get involved with the parish. There is Sunday School for children, a youth group, and Bible Study groups for men and women. One age group that gets left out is the college students or young adults. Making a group for college students
PER REPORTER: The reporter said the following information was disclosed to her today by the children’s grandmother (Pamela) due to her being concerned about the safety of her grandchildren. According to Pamela, her grandchildren told her when they were first placed in Kathleen’s home they were almost raped due to another female child placed in the home with them sneaking boys in the house through the window. It is unknown where Kathleen was when this situation was going on but the reporter said she believes she confronted the child that snuck the boys in about her behavior due to her catching them. Pamela said to her understanding her grandchildren were not raped by the guys due to Amber hitting one of the guys in the head with a rock. It is unknown how many guys were actually let into the home but the reported said Pamela told her one of the guys was only nine years old.
On May 5th 1993, three eight-year-old boys, Steven Branch, Michael Moore and Chris Byers, went missing after going on a bike ride together. The police and community began searching the woods and surrounding areas. A few days later, the three boy’s bodies were found in a river. The boys were bound, had multiple injuries and died from drowning. Investigators believed this to be the result of a sacrifice from a satanic cult, and immediately had a suspect. June 3rd, investigators arrested Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Miskelley. By March 18th 1994, Damien, Jason and Jessie were all convicted of the murders of the three boys. Many issues arose during the investigation and trial, which was highly publicized and documented by HBO. After
Along with the normal outcomes of unjust allegations and guilty verdict, those believed to be sex offenders, particularly child abusers, are subject to the negative outcomes of the humiliation. The locations and names of the reported child abuser/sex offenders are recognized by news reports and registers, endangering them to maltreatment and track by groups that are against pedophiles (Cross, 2005). It is understandable that for those who are unlawfully accused of rape the consequences are typically demoralizing, even though the allegations do not end in criminal actions. Truly, an undetermined amount of abuse accusations do not
Sexual assault can be defined as offences of a sexual nature, stretching from simply indecent behaviour to violent crimes committed without someone’s consent (Bijleveld 2007:321). The most common victims of sexual assault crimes are women and young girls with the crimes being committed by people known to the victim. Sexual assault is one of the most common and horrific crimes around the world affecting not only the victim, but also their families and the broad society in which they live (Boyd, Morrison & Quadara 2007:1). According to a 2006 Bureau of Statistics Personal Safety Survey, 1 in 5 women and 1 in 20 men are sexually assaulted by the age of 15. The same survey indicated that the people who are most at risk of being sexually assaulted are girls between the ages of 10 and 14, followed by young women between the ages of 15 and 24. There are several theories of crime that explain the behaviour of offenders who commit these heinous acts. They are the control theory, the rational choice theory and the social learning theory.
