What is the reason for a persons view of the world? Some say it is culture, others say its personality, I think its both. Saying culture effects how we see the world all the time seems kind of trivial, like saying all mexicans like spicy food, and all white people are racist. A person’s culture can sometimes effect how they see the world because though some follow in their cultural footsteps, others carve their own paths as seen in Two Ways To Belong In America, Two Kinds, and Happa. In Two Ways to Belong in America by Bharati Mukherjee you see two point of views, one is Bharati who has adopted more of an American life style while her sister still kept to her cultural tradition. The sisters came to America to get a degree and return to India to get married to a man of their fathers choice. Both stayed in America, one getting married to an American-Canadian man and becoming a bluejean wearing American citizen while the other married an Indian man and kept her Indian citizen ship promising to return home one day. While growing up, both girls were only exposed to one kind of culture so of course they thought alike but when exposed to a different one they each dicided what kind of person they wanted to be, purely based on choice. …show more content…
