Some of the functions and responsibilities of the Marine Patrol Units include enforcement of boating laws, investigation of boating accidents, drownings, commercial vessel inspections, protection of vital assets and

What is military force exactly? It’s when a country’s military, also known as its armed forces, have no other choice but to use deadly force and weapons to support the interest of the state and of it’s citizens. This means casing fire on the enemy, dropping bombs from planes, detonating nuclear warheads, even restoring biological warfare. It’s something many countries of the world have means and desires to do even some of the minor less economically developed countries.
One of country’s main tasks is to defend its borders and people and to do that, a country needs armed forces. For example, let’s take a look at our homeland. Nevertheless, people in some less developed countries still have to do their military service.

Over the years, the primary source of income throughout majority of nations around the world comes from unrestricted foreign trade via waterways. This unrestricted foreign trade is what later helped established merchant marines and navies around the world. Due to the fact that Earths geographical make up is predominately water, the primary source of cargo transportation across waterways is done on large vessels, operated by merchant marines. "The merchant marine is a fleet of ships that are owned and registered under a specific nation, in which the vessels flags fly under” (McMahon, Mary). The operators of the merchant marines were/are generally civilian officers hired to haul cargo safely from one destination to the next. After the navy was formed, military officers were able to become merchant marines as well. It was not long after the establishment of the merchant marines, that nations began to build military forces on the water known as Navies. Navies were formed to serve and protect their respective nations primarily over the water during both war and peacetimes. During wars merchant marines often assist navy vessels with supplies and goods as needed. In peacetime the navy gives more protection for merchant marines as they trade internationally via waterways. While the merchant marine and navy are separate entities, they work together to help each run more smoothly and efficiently.
