Norfolk State University, a historically black university, is rich in history and deeply rooted in the south eastern Virginia region. NSU is the only HBCU founded in the midst of the great depression. Since, NSU has grown tremendously over the last eighty years. Now, the campus spans 134 acers and has 40 buildings, four of which were newly built as of 2011.
