Technology has been the number one influence throughout individual’s lives. It refers to the use of machinery and equipment evolved from scientific knowledge or dealing with engineering. Most of these technologies can be found all over the world. It is what shapes society and makes living much easier. The most essential forms of technology is social media and the medical field. Social media is known as a place where individuals communicate and interact with their friends. It builds an online relationship between peers who don’t see each other often. And with the medical field many lives are saved through technology and without it a lot of people wouldn't be alive. I believe the use of social

One of the most important way is ultra sound. Many people like myself don't notice how much a ultrasound can save a person life. The uses of a ultrasound can help detect disease. According to the American Heart Association , “Contrary to popular belief, heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the United States and stroke is the No. 1 cause of serious, long-term disability. many women never receive the advance treatment they need. For patients showing symptoms of illness, ultrasound can examine the heart and circulatory system and provide important information about their structure and function. Ultrasound images can measure the chambers of the heart, visualize valve abnormalities as well as evaluate the efficiency of the heart in pumping blood to the rest of the body-all of which can help with early detection by determining the presence or risk of heart disease, including coronary artery disease.”(ASHA) In other words you get plenty of feedback from the ultrasound. It helps you understand if your rest of body is getting enough blood in it. Also it helps create a picture of the heart. This helps a lot of doctor understand what is wrong with their patient and what they can do to help them just from a …show more content…
Everyone know the earlier you detect can the better chance you have to live. An ultrasound can help detect certain tissue that is infected with the cancer. It states , Cancer of the prostate is the most common cancer among American men, affecting about one in five men during the course of a lifetime-and the most common cause of death from cancer in men over age 75. Prostate cancer is most common among African-American men over 60 years old and a health risk that all men should take seriously As with other cancers for which a cause is unknown, early detection is the most valuable weapon in this battle. If a problem in the prostate is suspected, ultrasound can allow a physician or radiologist to accurately acquire a tissue sample or biopsy from areas of the prostate. The exam is conducted through the use of a small probe and may be carried out in conjunction with other exams, including the important prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test; most men with prostate cancer show elevated levels of prostate-specific antigen, a protein that is produced by the prostate
I want to be part of the Ultrasound program because I realized that where I’m from people don’t consider going into a major like this. I was raised to become a doctor or a nurse it was either of those or your family will be disappointed. I looked at how many doctors and nurses my community has but rarely any ultrasound technicians. I also like to travel to different parts of the world and I would love to have those skills as a ultrasound technician to help those women who are unable to afford to go to a clinic to see if their baby is in good condition. A woman should never have to choose between making a decision about losing her kid, I want to be able to help those women that are struggling daily whether their baby has a health condition or even letting the parents know their baby gender.
Today, prostate cancer is usually detected through screening, and there are two methods for early detection. The prostate-specific antigen test (PSA) is used, but there are
Ultrasound imaging has many uses in medicine, from confirming and dating a pregnancy to diagnosing certain conditions and guiding doctors through precise medical procedures
Sonography is a non-invasive medical procedure that uses the echoes of high-frequency sound waves to construct an image of internal organs or body structures. The employment rate is is expected to grow 26 percent from 2014 to 2024. Since ultrasound is non-invasive, it is more encouraged than other methods so the career is always in demand. Diagnostic medical sonographers duties are to prepare and maintain diagnostic imaging equipment, taking a patients medical history, answering questions about the procedure, operating the equipment, review images and test results, know the difference between normal and abnormal images, analyze diagnostic information, record findings, and keep track of patient records. Hospitals, offices of physicians, medical
In the future I plan to pursue a career in medicine, more specifically an ultrasound technician. Although English isn’t a subject that is often associated with medicine I believe there are many ways that it will help me in many ways in my career. Before I can even complete an ultrasound degree I will have to write many essays, with the skills I learned in English class. To prepare for tests I will often have to read books filled with information. Once I get a job in the field there will often be times when I have to record information from appointments. At times I will have to send emails to people regarding their diagnosis. Ultrasound technicians don’t seem to do much public speaking but they still have to communicate with the patients and
A prevalent issue regarding social media and interactions exists between researchers and social network users. Social media is currently changing how relationships between people are created. Relationships can exist through people across the world through social media and can produce more emotional bonds with friends that you can see everyday. On the other hand, social media also could present conflicts due to the fact that some of these relationships can become unhealthy and that people could change to be more dependent on internet friends, becoming introverted.
Sonography utilizes sound waves to generate an image that can be analyzed to determine or rule out a diagnosis. Ultrasound or ultrasonography is a medical imaging technique that uses high frequency sound waves. It is a high pitch frequency that cannot be heard by the human ear. A diagnostic medical sonographer works directly with patients in a dimly lit room with imaging machines. The sonographer gets the medical history of the patient and prepares the patient for an ultrasound examination. The sonographer explains the noninvasive procedure and answers any question the patient might have. The sonographer positions the patient and covers the patient only exposing the area needed for the procedure. The sonographer
“Diagnostic medical sonographers work in a variety of settings such as hospitals, imaging centers, health maintenance organizations (HMOs), physicians’ offices, mobile imaging clinics, industry, and clinical research labs (“Diagnostic” 163)”. Also, other places sonographers may work at are in departments of cardiology, radiology, obstetrics, and vascular surgery. Most sonographers work the daily hours of 8:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M and there are usually never any overtime opportunities. Being said, a sonographer has no typical everyday style; they complete a wide variety of examinations of fetal ultrasounds, gynecological (uterus, ovaries) and abdominal as gallbladder, liver and kidney tests.
The description of a medical Sonographer given by a woman named Eileen Mathers, a vascular specialist. Provides information of how a diagnostic ultrasound can be used to detect different aliments that evolves around the human organs, veins and arteries. The job of an Sonographer can examine the patient’s body so that the doctor knows what to do based off the personnel’s finding. For example an ultrasound can detect a blood clot in a person’s leg.
Ever since I had been a little girl, I have had a love for people and caring for them. I like to study them to figure out how and what they are feeling. If something is wrong, I enjoy problem solving to find ways to fix the situation or at least make the person feel better. I am also fond of watching people develop and grow, which is why when I bumped into ultrasound sonography, I fell in love.

Seeing a mother’s face when she sees her child for the first time is why I want to get into sonogram. Sonographers operate special imaging equipment to create or to conduct tests. In my field I use this equipment to look inside the uterus where the babies are developing. The purpose of sonographers is to check the development and health of the baby. These images help the physicians know the well-being of the baby and then if there is anything abnormal going on. Also these images can indicate whether further medical test needs to be run. Sonographers usually work full time in hospitals and clinics. In order to join this work force one will need at least an associate’s degree. Sonographers make an average of 63,630 per year; equally important
The rapid growth of technology in our society has become more dominant than it was in the 17th and 18th century. Today, technology is used for almost everything in our day to day lives. But the most common usage of technology is for communication and industrialization. However, every good thing has its disadvantage if it is over used, and since technology has become very dominant, it is used by both young and older people but more predominant among the youth of the today. Even more, technology has brought about social networking such as Facebook, Twitter, my space, piazza.com, instagram, tango, and last but not the least texting. According to socialnetworking.procon.org, “47% of American adults used social networking sites like
Ultrasound or ultrasonography is a medical imaging technique that uses high frequency sound waves. It is a high pitch frequency that cannot be heard by the human ear. In ultra sound the following happens: High frequency sound pulses (1-5megahertz) are transmitted from the ultrasound machine into your body using a probe. The sound wave will travel into your body until it hits an object such as soft tissue and bone. When the sound wave hits these objects some of the wave will be reflected back to the probe. While some waves may carry on further till they hit another object and then reflected back. The probe picks up these reflected sound waves and relays them to the machine. The distance and time from the probe,
Technology is a way that all six billion people in the world can communicate with each other. We can follow people from all over the world on Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, and many more social media sites. Technology gives us ways to communicate with celebrities, your child that you recently sent off to college or the world, and your friends and family who live in different states than you. Technology in video games allows us to play in multiplayer mode with our friends, while being at our own houses. New advantages with technology is that we can text, call, and use the internet all on one device. Also, technology plays a great role in the medical field. I do not think technology isolates us from society, I think that technology connects us with one another in a unique way.
