Universal Health Care Universal Healthcare is a viable alternative for the United States. Health insurance is supposed to keep you from an unexpected cost that you can’t pay right then and there. With health insurance you can be seen whenever you need to be seen and have a consistent doctor. There is a federal state program called Medicaid. Medicaid is for people with limited income, but not all people qualify. Depending if you qualify for Medicaid deals with your age or if you’re pregnant or have any disabilities. There is another federal state program, which is called State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). This is similar to Medicaid, but it is for children whose parents don’t have enough money to pay for private insurance and also makes too much money to qualify for Medicaid. Now there is also Medicare, which is for the people who are over 65. The whole point of universal health care is to allow people to be able to have good medical at an affordable price. They are trying to make Universal Healthcare so that people who do not have insurance can still be seen and still be able to have the same amount of care as the people who pay to have health coverage. There are many people in the U.S. that are uninsured because they are unemployed, under employed etc. Many people lack having health coverage because of the cost.
