Its levels of raw materials and the diversity of its people, makes of Venezuela a beautiful country in South America and around the world. According to the Venezuelan Government website, Venezuelan history goes back 15,000 to 5.000 years before our era. But the real history begins in the 1400s when Christopher Columbus became the first Spanish explorer to touch the Venezuelan lands in 1498 (Oberhelman, ph2). Follow by Spanish conquer Alonso de Ojeda, who actually gave the country its name, Venezuela became another conquered country with so many hiding treasures not known to the world yet. The country became a must have by other European nations, including Great Britain who at that time, owned the country of Guyana which it borders Venezuela. The Spanish conquerors remained in Venezuela for more than 300 years, and it wasn’t until 1821 that a man named Simon Bolivar, along with other revolutionaries liberated Venezuela from the Spanish conquers and acquiring independence for the country. Venezuela is a country that throughout the years has tried to become a democratic country. In 1998, Hugo Chavez was elected president of Venezuela with the intentions of making a Venezuela a better country. His intentions were to rewrite a new constitution in order to improve the state and fight poverty (Coronel, 2008). Years passed and Venezuela has become worse compared to what it was before Hugo Chavez

Did you know that Venezuela was one of the first colonies to gain their independence from Spain? At the time Venezuela was a Spanish ruled colony and the people of Venezuela felt that their government was ruling their colony terribly (Adelblue). The people were led by Simon Bolivar, whose nickname was “The Liberator” since he liberated Venezuela and worked with San Martin to liberate most of Northern South America (Adelblue). Venezuela declared their independence in 1810 and finally gained their independence after the Battle of Carabobo in 1821 (Minster). Three symbolic elements of the Venezuelan revolution are used to portray Simon Bolivar, the speech Simon gave to the Second National Congress in 1819 to encourage the type of government he had in mind, and the high taxation that was the main cause of the revolution (Ellis and Esler 705).
The United States and Venezuela were both once colonies controlled by European Nations. In 1765, The American Revolution took place by the rebellious united 13 colonies against British power. In 1810, The Venezuelan Revolution began with many reasons to go against Spain. Both revolutions had similar reasons such as to become an independent Nation and secure liberal rights. While ideas and perspectives may have differed in 17-1800s, it was about finding peace and prosperity as it did not exist in the colonies. While whites always had the upper hand, during the revolution specific groups of people took over with rebellions and resistances. On the other hand, there were specific reasons to why people resisted and revolted against the leaders in charge. European nations were greeds wanting money and control, their mistreatment were the reasons for the revolution. Both the Venezuelan and American revolution had the catastrophic number. Even though, The American and Venezuelan revolution took place in different time period, there were similar reason for resistance/rebellions in colonies to become an Independent Nation and carry out equality and Freedom.
The country was the first Spanish-American colony to declare independence, doing so in 1811, but the declaration was not firmly established until 1821 when Venezuela was considered a part of the federal republic of Gran Colombia. In 1830 it gained full independence and was recognized as a sovereign nation. This new period of independence was marked with significant political turmoil and autocracy, and remained under the rule of regional caudillos (political-military leaders often considered to be dictators) until the mid-20th century. Beginning in 1958 the country has had a series of democratic governments, however these governments were not without political crises, including deadly riots in 1989, two attempted coups in 1992, and embezzlement of public funds in 1993. The widespread public mistrust of government lead to the election of Hugo Chavez, a Socialist Reformer, in 1999. This election brought about the Bolivarian Revolution, beginning in 1999 with a Constituent Assembly to create a new Constitution of Venezuela.
The “Bolivarian revolution” revolves around the rise of the leftest movement which started with Hugo Chavez, and soon many other leaders rose to the occasion. The sole purpose of this movement was to help Latin America get rid of dictators and reestablish under Simon Bolivar's ideals of making Latin America not a colony but a nation for the people residing in it. Now that Chavez is dead, I believe that he was able to complete Bolivar's conquest of freeing Latin America. Now that Chavez has passed away, he has left both good and bad implications, but I believe its more good than bad. “The real opposition to Chavez is from the United States which was so angry at the way that he built up a credible alternative to the U.S. idea of free trade with
This article talks about Venezuela’s President Nicolás Maduro wanting to rewrite the country’s constitution, originally written in 1999. The exact changes that would be made to the document are not known, but citizens and leaders of both Venezuela and the United States, including President Trump, believe it will make the government too much like Cuba’s. Cuba has a communist government that controls everything. There will be a vote that many people plan on boycotting, and there have been many protests from all the people who do not want the President of Venezuela to go through with the changes. These strikes are dangerous and have ended up killing many people.
Venezuela is just another chapter in my ongoing book. I was born in Tamaulipas, Mexico my home country and got moved 3 months later to New Orleans. It was uncommon for a Mexican family to move so constantly all over the world, we are known to migrate to US or not migrate at all. I don’t remember New Orleans so I regarded to my next move, Colombia as my home. Colombia was everything a 4 year old wanted, friends, close to family, wonderful house and most importantly the school was accepting of others. I felt as if I belonged, I even sang the national anthem with pride, seeing that it was my country. I knew Colombia inside out, I knew the language, culture, food, education which gave me comfort as for a long time I felt ordinary like any

The United States and Venezuela have not had been the best relations with one another. Before we jump way ahead of ourselves in time of when the meet let's go back to July 24,1783, where it all began. Simón José Antonio de la Santísima Trinidad Bolivar y Palacios was born on this day in Caracas, New Granada (now Venezuela). Born into his wealth Bolivar was a man of a lot of privilege and opportunities. Venezuela is located in northern South America, bordering the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, between Colombia and Guyana, and north of Brazil. Christopher Columbus was the first European to visit Venezuela. He came in 1498 during his third voyage to the New World, and landed on the Peninsula de Paria. More explorers came a year later, and it was Alonso de Ojeda who gave the country its name. Arriving at Lake Maracaibo, he admired the stilted houses that the Indians had build above the lake and called the place Venezuela, which means “Little Venice.” Early colonization in Venezuela was much less rampant than it was in other parts of South America, and the viceroy ruled the colony from the city of Santa Fe, which is now present-day
Now days democracy has been establish in every Latin America country except Cuba, which is still a socialist state. It seemed that every other alternative form of government such as Marxism or Leninism has failed and been replaced by democracy. Furthermore it looks like people in Latin American really enjoy democracy and its’ benefits, as they also consider it to be the best form of government. After the failure of authoritarian leaders and the military intervene their lives, Latin American citizens wanted to change their system into a more fair and honest system, democracy. With an economy dominated by the production of oil, Venezuela has enjoyed the highest standard of living in Latin America. In spite of its success in the oil industry, agriculture and manufacturing also play important roles in Venezuela’s economy. With this in mind, it would seem as though Venezuela’s economic state has flourished. Rather, it has suffered from the effects of political influence, corruption, and poor economic management. The distribution of wealth across Venezuela has caused the elite to benefit at the cost of the working people. This is mainly due to the economic and political structure of the country. Even with the plentiful resources Venezuela possesses, it is constantly being threatened by political instability,
