Anybody that has served our country or still in the military, please stand up. Everyone look around, they are the ones that made the biggest sacrifices of them all. Joining the military and becoming veterans of the armed forces. So please give them an around of applause to honor their tribute as veterans. Thank you, you may now be seated. You open your eyes and awake with a new day. You had to some chores, long lists to check, and some annoying stressful challenge for the day. Someone you never knew now stands watching on a ship and thinking about his little baby girl his wife just recently gave birth to, and possibly may never see her father for a long time. After you finish your morning schedule, you then go to school. You put the keys in your car and drive up to school on the smooth road. During this time, a soldier helps a women cross a mortared damaged street. …show more content…
They fought for basic freedoms that most Americans today take for granted. Freedom of the press, freedom of religion, and the Bill of Rights were written in the blood of those who raised their hand when the greater good of our country was at stake. You may say that today, the fight is different; it is about oil and politics. Whatever the leaders of our country decide, after being duly elected freely by you and your fellow Americans, has to be carried out by the volunteers who are on the front lines of the American ideal. The Veterans gave up their lives of comfort, postponed their dreams for their family, and placed themselves in harms way because it was what you and your proxies asked of them. If you disagree with the reasons why the Veterans are in one part of the world or what they are doing there, you should let your opinions be known, by voting or by speaking or by writing. Make sure you place your dissatisfaction where it belongs, not on the backs of those who serve your interests but on those who sent them
My grandfather, Larry, served in WWII. He enlisted and stationed at Camp Polk. He went through places like New Guinea and the Philippines during the war.
Veterans are heroes who fight for our country and risk their lives for ours. They have courage to be true heroes.
Would you volunteer to leave your family and friends for months or years at a time to serve your country? Would you volunteer to do nearly the hardest and most dangerous job for pay that barely pays the bills? Military veterans are the men and women, moms and dads, brothers and sisters who answered the call of service and sacrifice. They volunteer to fight for our rights and freedoms no matter the cost so that we may live in a country with freedoms not available in most other countries.
For many years the VA has been the only source of veteran support in the US. The VA’s main purpose is to provide a trust-worthy source of information and resources for all military personnel. The VA is not driven by its dollar signs but by seeing that everyone involved with the military has a place that they can turn to for anything they need. With that in mind, I know that the Department of Veteran’s Affairs is the place for me.
The way the veteran office serves, judges the quality of Veterans services is in due course its clients. Improving quality through technology, involves the use of services that, when appropriately executed, produce immense settlement. The most direct contribution that information technology can make to humanizing the quality of the veteran services and care, is to put forward healthier information about their case, control the problem at hand, and find alternative tests and treatments for that problem. This would enable veterans to select more effectual services, and avoid potential appalling abhorrence.
As a veteran that suffers with a disability, receiving disability benefits is something you are most likely looking into. Unfortunately, even after contacting your VA and filing a claim, you could be denied benefits and not be sure why. Now that you have the denial letter, the next step should be hiring a lawyer that can help you appeal the claim denial and figure out if you are entitled to compensation for these three situations.
As an American it is so important to remember the soilders who have served and who are currently serving. Living in the United States for thirteen years is a total blessing. I can go to sleep every night knowing that I am free and have rights to a lot of things other countries do not. I have several family members who have severed and are currently serving. I have cousins who move every 4 years and some that stay right here in Tennessee. I have a 94 year old, almost 95, great grandfather who fought in World War II and the Korean War. He is very proud of his service and you can tell that by just talking to him about it. Everyone who serves our country are our heroes and should be remembered and appreciated. So many people have given
Nursing originated from Florence Nightingale many years ago when she services the wounded civilian at war. This service has carried on to this date where nurses are not only expected to serve in war zones areas, but also in the area that promotes good health and living for all. My personal reflection as a nurse is not only a good nurse but my personal attributes that reveal who am I as a person. As explained by Begley 2010 to be a good nurse means he or her is a good person, therefore, has the attributes of a good nurse (Florence Nightingale). As a nurse, we stand the potential to have empathy for our patient no matter their circumstance. Our patients come from different background and circumstances in life especially our veterans who have sacrificed their life for our safety. Most of these veterans come back with many health problems that have challenged us as a nation to question if we are doing enough to support their well-being. As a nurse, I see myself as an advocate for our veterans to help them in their health care needs.
Before reviewing the PowerPoint for this class, I did not know the number of people in the military. After reading it I found out that the biggest branch is the Army, which I found interested because I thought each branch was about equal. I learned that 10 percent of our population consists of veterans and that about six percent of them live in poverty. I believed that veterans got good benefits and were well off but my perception was wrong. I never knew what defined someone as a veteran. The PowerPoints states that a veteran is “Anyone who has served on active duty, as reservist, or in the national guard is considered a veteran, however, their benefits may differ” (PowerPoint, Slide 16). I feel by reading this PowerPoint I better understand
Truly, veterans are superheroes. They take numerous risks in order to fight for our country, and keep the citizens of America safe, as well. Not to mention, veterans are incredibly strong, physically and emotionally. They keep going, no matter what life throws at them. Our veterans continue to fight for our country, even if their best friend has died in a war, or something horribly tragic has happened during battle. May I add, veterans are extremely diligent, especially when it comes to caring for their families. Not only do they take care of their families, but it is amazing how they take care of themselves in battle. They know how to fight and save others’ lives, at the same time. Not everyone can do that. Our veterans deserve our thanks and our love for being so strong, persistent, and always making sure everyone is
It is not enough to simply want to help member of the military. There is a need for true cultural knowledge and competency. Roughly 1.7 million troops deployed to operation Enduring and Iraqi Freedom. The engagement in war has significant psychological and physical wounds for military personnel. Between 19 and 38% of recently returning veterans report having emotional difficulties. As many as 20% of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans suffer from some form of invisible wounds of was. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or military sexual trauma. A high number of military members with various injuries such as loss of limbs, as well as other physical wounds. Many military personnel have to struggle with the thoughts of can I continue to do my job efficiently and effectively. Being in the military for 6 years and being deployed to Iraq I fully understand how many military personnel are going through with recent war time hardships. The traumatic experience that I had been through while I was in the Navy and the lack of care that I received from the counselors made me realize that being a military counselor is something that I want to do. Also that there is a great need for counselors that care for people and truly want to help fight against PTSD and other mental traumas that come from being in the military.
I had always told my mother, “As soon as I’m sixteen, I’m getting a job.” So, when I turned sixteen, I did just that, but how I handled it, well, that’s where I surprised myself.
Veterans need a coordinated effort that provides secure housing, nutritional meals, basic physical health care, substance abuse care and aftercare, mental health counseling, personal development and empowerment. Additionally, veterans need job assessment, training and placement assistance. NCHV strongly believes that all programs to assist homeless veterans must focus on helping them obtain and sustain employment.
I think that Veterans Day is a good thing to celebrate because of the fallen soldiers and the land that they fought for. Some of the Veterans died trying to sacrifice their lives to save ours. I am very thankful for my family that went to battle in Army, Navy, and WWI and WWII. I am also thankful for their friends and other people that have served our country because Veterans Days means a lot more to me then just thanking our soldiers.
It is dawn on a fogy icy January morning; the rural hamlet is motionless. As the sun rises the stillness is interrupted, as the first of the day’s commuters set off for work, joining them is George, a retired and proud air force veteran. Who as of only last month joined the disheartening world of those who had been dumped into a retirement home for his, as his daughter puts it “own good”.
