For many years the VA has been the only source of veteran support in the US. The VA’s main purpose is to provide a trust-worthy source of information and resources for all military personnel. The VA is not driven by its dollar signs but by seeing that everyone involved with the military has a place that they can turn to for anything they need. With that in mind, I know that the Department of Veteran’s Affairs is the place for me.
After searching through thousands of job announcements I was fortunate enough to come across the Civilian Payroll Technician position on the VA’s career webpage. Upon reading the position description I am convinced that my experience and prior knowledge make me a perfect candidate for this position.

During my time as an intern, I was in charge of entering and correcting certain invoices,

Over the course of this past year the Veterans Success Center (VSC) has made huge strides in being more visible and more involved with other areas across campus. I wanted to concentrate on reaching the incoming student-veterans so that when they encountered the veterans program it appeared to be far more established than it was, and interaction with it being perceived as a daily opportunity. This meant that we would need to be far more involved with the early processes of becoming a student such as: Premiere Night, SOAR/TSOAR/Preview Day/ Veteran specific orientation and Veteran campus tours. We also wanted to be much more accurate in speaking to our student-veteran population, so we worked directly with the Admission Office to create an

By forming these strong interpersonal relationships and working with the VSO’s I was frequently able to obtain information, support, or concurrence that would allow me to resolve a Veteran’s claim. After moving into various management positions within the Veterans Service Center (VSC) I continued to work towards building and maintaining effective and productive relationships with these and other organizations in order to further the goals and interests of the VSC. I accomplished this by participating in outreach events, focusing on improving relations with the RO’s VHA partners, and by focusing on providing timely responses to requests for information from partners to include, VHA, VSO’s and exam
The Department of Veterans Affairs is a government run system that provides benefits to all veterans of the United States military. Along with assisting veterans, it is also a benefit program for the families of the veterans. Many sections of the department are very obvious to those not involved, however there is much more to it than we see. There are three main sub sections of the program. These include the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Veterans Benefits Association (VBA), and the National Cemetery Association (NCA). All this is possible due to the increase in funding over the past decade. The department has grown tremendously since its very beginning in 1636 to what it is today.

The VA also developed a process to keep informed with the Department from Congressional committees.
Many transitioning veterans face an arduous battle with The Veterans Administration. (VA) There are times, veterans feel the battle is greater than the benefits. Many would rather forgo the VA process altogether to avoid the battle. The VA offers disability benefits for veterans that received service-connected injuries or conditions that qualify for benefits. Injuries can range from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder/ Traumatic Brain Injury to Sleep Apnea. Once veteran’s separate from their military service, they have to fight for benefits the government promised would be there. (VA 2016) Many times it is not the wounds that can be seen, it is the ones that are not visible which
The reason I would select one of these positions is because the VA has failed in their Mission Statement and Core Values. • Attitudes and Job Satisfaction (Mitchell, 2012), (Cullen, 2014) • Communication (Saint, 2013), (Shi, 2014) • Leadership (Nichols, 2012) • Conflict and Negotiation (McTernan, 2011) I will attempt to write and suggest some of the solutions for the above problems: • A solution for the problems listed above start with; following the current laws signed by the President of the United States. • Addressing attitudes and job satisfaction the only solution would be to start replacing the current employees.
Regarding the week three assignment of the COUN. 725 course, the organization I wish to work in is the Veterans Affairs (VA) Hospital. The VA is a department which helps veterans and relatives or dependents of the veterans through services, resources, education, therapy, etc.
The Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) provides a variety of benefits and services to Veterans and their families. Over the years, VBA has been transforming into a more people-centric, results oriented, and performance based organization in an effort to ensure the fulfillment of President Lincoln's promise and accomplishing the organization's mission, "To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan" by serving and honoring the men and women who are America's Veterans. To fulfill VBA's mission, it is imperative that we attract, retain, and serve VA employees—the vitally important people who support our nation’s Veterans and their families.
