My goal is to become a small animal veterinarian and to be able to run my own practice. Also, my goal is to be a certified canine and feline specialist. Consider the breadth of society which veterinarians serve. What attributes do you believe are essential to be successful within the veterinary profession? Of these attributes, which do you possess and how have you demonstrated these in the past? I think to be successful within the veterinary profession one would need to have communication skills, customer service skills, good observation skills, good motor skills, be compassionate, be intellectual, excellent time management skills, skills and/or knowledge of how to run and mange a business, as well as be passionate about animals. I possess all the attributes listed above to a certain degree for each. I can interpret social and behavioral cues and be able to change my behavior and actions based on those interpretations to handle the situation. I have developed customer service skills of how to treat customers/clients as well as coworkers from working my job as a cashier. I am passionate about animals. I am compassionate because I want to help to customers have the best possible service no matter what. I have good coordination and I am somewhat physically fit. I have good problem-solving skills and quantitative skills, which I demonstrate by successfully solving customer problems without a manager. A career as a vet tech can be overwhelming and stressful, and one must have the proper skills and talents to be able to handle the situations they will be put into. The career that I want to achieve is a Veterinarian. I want to become a Veterinarian after I graduate college. Want to become that, because I would like to help out animals that are sick and be able to make their owners happy. I would have to go to high school and go to classes to learn about health science. Then, go to college and learn more about science so I will be able to know what is need to become a veterinarian. I will get my degree in college and graduate.
I have also had a small amount of Equine husbandry and surgery assistant as well at Dr. Wendell Baker’s veterinary clinic, most of my experience surgery wise were several castrations, teeth floating, and restraining for x-rays. I have also had a great array of experiences while currently shadowing at the Cy-Fair Animal Hospital with Dr. Diarra Blue and Dr. Michael Lavigne in regards to small animal medicine. I have been exposed to so many situations and learned a very good amount of knowledge about veterinary medicine in general. Honestly I believe that everyone should contribute to society by doing what they love to do. My number one goal in life is to make a difference. I want to be the reason that people smile and have joy-filled lives. With this, I plan on either being a veterinarian or a chiropractor, which I will be going to Saginaw Valley State University in the fall to pursue. I want to either help animals, or I want to help people in my community by giving them the ability to have bodies free of pain, or at least reduced pain. I am currently looking more into being a chiropractor, because I have a more personal connection to this career, for my dad is disabled with chronic back pain, but seeing a chiropractor has turned his life around and he can now be my loving father again, instead of the depressed, pain-filled father I once had.
There are about 100 organizations of veterinary technicians that exist, state, local, and provincial across the United States (American Veterinary Medical Association). Out of those 100 organizations, there were 62,000 employed veterinary technicians in the year of 2004. The career of Veterinary technician will be investigated for the purpose of learning techniques to increase an animal’s health, providing information will result in determining if pursuing this career will be a positive choice for the future. I have always been interested in animals, when I was younger I would save baby animals or sick animals from the sides of the road and care for them until they were able to do so themselves. Ever since I can remember my future career was seen as achieving in being a veterinarian and have my own clinic. In this clinic I do not plan on working on ordinary animals, my goal is to become a big animal and exotics vet.
When I was five, I said to my mom, “ I want to be a veterinarian when I grow up”, a phrase that every parent hears their child say at some point in their life, knowing that it is only a temporary phase. However, my determination to become a veterinarian has only increased with age and added experience in the veterinary medical field. It is assumed that I want to be a veterinary simply because I love animals and that is not false. But being a good veterinary to me means so much more. Ever since I was little the career that has sparked my interest and I want to pursue is veterinary. My father who loves animals has influenced me to be a veterinarian. We have always been close and he has inspired me to go higher in life. My one goal in life is to get my masters degree of veterinary medicine and have my own pet clinic. The university I want to attend and have gotten information about is UC Davis. UC Davis is known for having great majors and one of them is veterinary medicine.
A career in being a veterinarian should be obtained by a person who enjoys caring for animals, and sometimes having to care for their owners when they have to make hard decisions. Before becoming, a veterinarian person should know the career proves to need a lot of education, but is well worth the work in the end. It is important to know a veterinarian’s regular duties, required education, and the possible salary before choosing a career in this field.

My primary motivation to become a registered veterinary technician is to learn and do more in the field of animal care. My experience working directly with animals has been incredibly rewarding. More than anything, it has shown me how important attention to detail and the most basic tasks can be. I have developed a healthy respect for the often tedious and demanding labor that is required to keep animals healthy and happy and I am quite comfortable taking on these duties, but I feel ready to do more.
My career ambition is to be an equine veterinarian, with an emphasis on sports medicine, at an equine hospital. I plan to achieve this by earning an Animal Science degree, then completing OSU's Veterinary Medicine program to become a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Throughout the course of my schooling I will continue to volunteer my time at animal shelters and work in the veterinary field to further prepare myself for my career.
When I was growing up I wanted to become a veterinarian; simple as that. As time went on I realized something kinda sorta essential. Dogs don’t enjoy the vet, don’t tolerate it, they hate it. Fear may be a more rational word to describe it, but guess what that does not make a catchy title. Over time my aspirations changed and I now find myself striving to be a wildlife rehabilitator. A form of veterinarian to a much wider range of animals than pets and companions, but that does not displace them in my heart. I love all animals, not a dog person, not a cat person, an animal person.
When, I get older I truly want to become a veterinarian. I really love animals and I will do anything I can to try and help them and make them feel better. Being a Vet also pays really well but I wouldn’t just do it for the money. As long as I keep another animal from dying I will be happy enough.
I plan to become a Veterinary Surgeon. For my entire life I have had an innate desire to become a veterinarian so that I can improve the lives of animals. I have always wanted to become a veterinarian since I live on a family farm and have always had pets, so I have always had a great appreciation and love of all animals.
