Being the first of my family to be born in the United States, I had a number of things that my parents did not have growing up. I went to nice schools, I had a cell phone, and I had a nice car growing up. One thing my cousins and I did in our time together would be playing video games. Video games were not just a way for us to relax, but to socialize with the person sitting next to me, and prepare me for real- life activities.
Most weekends growing up, my friends and family would come over and we would end up playing video games. I remember sitting on the couch for hours, relaxing, talking to my older cousin, while driving my BMW on the television. The passage, 'Video Games Enhance the Lives of Youths', supports that "Yes, researchers agree that children feel stress just like adults", and driving in a game helped me unwind.

The game, Call of Duty, was my first shooting game. The game takes place at the time of World War 1, putting you in the meetings, or the frontlines of major battles of the country you decided you wanted to be playing for. Friends and I played together at each others homes, or online. For a time, it was our favorite way to socialize out side of school. We got so good that we started to do tournaments in different states, going on road trips to play the best of the best in our favorite games. We made lots of friends along the way. I haven't played video games in a few years, but with it, meeting people was so easy and
Video games is like a fantasy world for children where they pretend to be someone else and have an escape on reality. As a mother i rather have my child play a video game as a stress free activity rather than finding a worse sorce of stress free activity. Now you might think what can a child be stressing about, well a child can be stressing over schooling or probably some family or social issues that they might not know how to handle. As a kid would play pretend now they can play prentend in a reality word where its more visual and interactive. Another quote "Games are a safe outlet to relieve stress and aggression" rather than going out there and solving their problem they go to a room and enter a fantasy world where there is no stress but

With the improvement of the internet, thousands of video games have arouse and gaming addiction has grew tremendously. These video games are at the tip of one's fingers. Video games are indisputably harmful to adolescents because they harm an adolescents' intellectual and social development.
Video games have been around since 1950s and have gone a long way from what they are today. They are in no doubt a big part of our society and with doing so they have been criticized by many. Video games come in different categories which include: action, racing, adventure, role-playing, simulation, strategy, and sports. The purpose of these games can be casual, serious, art, Christian, and educational. You can play these games on different types of platforms as well to make it the gamers preference. In today’s society, it is common for one to play video games. Some people play causally and some play professional to make money. Even though, video games are now mainstream, they are still being stigmatized and it has been like that since the creation of them. Some people see video games as a waste of time and that they are unproductive, but after being studied thoroughly by researchers that is not true; video games are known to have benefits. It can help children with development and it can help adults perform better at their job. It can also help people with different disorders. Video games should not be stigmatized because of the advantages ranging from cognitive to social benefits for children, people with disabilities, and adults.
Kutner and Olson also report on interviews with kids. One respondent said that he plays video games because he wants to see something that will hopefully never happen to him—experience it without actually being there (Kutner and Olson, 2008, 116). Some other kids said that they played M-rated games with groups of friends, and further research showed that M-gamers were more likely to play games in social settings or with more friends in the room (Kutner and Olson, 2008, 130). Other research shows that video games are a good tool for bringing people together—especially new kids, shy kids, or mentally disabled kids (Kutner and Olson, 2008, 132-134). This book does a good job of describing the effects of video games on lots of different kinds of kids—from different regions, different races, depressed kids, both genders, and mentally disabled kids (Kutner and Olson, 2008, 134).
Video games aid adolescents in the development of vital skills needed throughout life. One important element in gaming is teamwork, which requires communication. Being able to connect and talk with the team is beneficial, although listening to them is just as vital. Without communication and listening skills the team would be dysfunctional. Game companies are getting sneaker with the traps and Easter eggs (references to things outside the game) that the companies place in the game. Provided this will increase the focus of the gamer to the details in their surroundings. Also by doing this it makes gamers react quickly and fluently to what they have just encountered. These skills that video games help develop will not only aid in the gaming experience
In today's frantic and stressful society, a desire to escape sometimes is imminent. There are piles of work to do, constant headaches, and relationship tensions are rising. In this current condition one may be aware that it will be impossible to get anything accomplished. What one really needs is a chance to get away from it all, to replenish the mind and release all of their apprehension. A relaxing vacation to a secluded private island would do the trick, but of course this is impractical. Instead, at no cost one can fully immerse into a lush, stunning virtual paradise oozing with beauty and serenity. This is the magnificence of the modern video game world; it lets a person be somebody they could only
In the first speech titled:"Video Games Enhance the Lives of Youths",it speaks about how video games can actually be helpful to young kids, because it enhances their attentive skills and protects them from the real world, and it also provides them stress relief, because they are only focused on the fantasy of the game and not the real world.
In today’s world one thing you don’t hear everyday is learning is fun. For some it can be, but many children aren’t that excited to learn. What if there was a way to make learning fun for kids? Well there is, its called gamification. Gamifiction is the process of using game thinking and game mechanics to engage audiences according to Gabe Zichermann an educational gaming expert. Though its been said that video games cause laziness and violence in kids, we now know that video games can be a significant learning tool in early child development. Research has shown that video games help children with multitasking skills and can also increase fluid intelligence, which is the intelligence we use to solve problems (Zichermann). Video games may be
But not all video games are violent: in fact, video games can promote cohesion through cooperation rather than competition. Multiplayer games sometimes implement a cooperative mode enabling players to use teamwork to achieve a goal instead of contending for supremacy. This cooperative multiplayer encourages “(against the stereotype of gaming as a socially isolating action) the development of team, social,
Excessive video game playing has been a problem with today’s youth they have had more influences over the youth than ever before. That brings to my attention a question, how do video games affect the youth of our society? Excessive video game playing, especially violent video games, can lead to youth violence, a decrease in academic success and many other negative things. I realize that some parents believe that they can be good for children, I agree but I also disagree in some cases. Some parents allow their children to play video games to keep a social life and to learn how to use strategies. This is true in some cases but not in all cases. For instance, other children that play video games alone and are in their rooms constantly can
Are there people who have never played video games at least once in their adolescence? You might recall some happy memories of playing video games with your best friends or that your parents punished you because you spent a lot of time playing video games. Most school teachers and parents are apt to think that playing video games in adolescence might only have negative impacts on adolescents. Playing video games is considered one of the top obstacles to academic performance and maintaining attention spans. Although these facts are partially true, there are positive effects of playing video games in some ways such as entertainment, development of social interaction and movement skills. This essay will cover the positive and negative effects of playing video games on adolescents’ physical, psychological/social aspects. In these divisions, I will discuss about the relationship between playing video games and the level of physical activity which is related to obese, aggressive behavior which is related to violence, social interaction and comfort effect of video games. Also, I will consider the significance of this issue.
After school, I would rush home to do my homework, help my brothers with their own, and do my chores. The rest of our day consisted of coming up with ways to entertain ourselves. While my brothers would play with friends or build towns out of Legos, I would read. I looked forward every day to losing myself in a book. Books permitted me to pretend I was living a different life in a new exciting world. I later found a different past time in the form of online video games.
Changing behavior is a difficult task. It is difficult to quit smoking, save more money, or choose to take the stairs instead of taking the elevator. Behavior change is even more complicated when problems related to access are added.
In the past few decades video games have become extremely popular among children and young adults alike. In the early days of video games the children of which became captivated by these fictitious worlds still hold on to the loving value of playing these games and destroying their opponents, over time graphics and violence grew stronger in some of these games. Today, computer graphics in video games are incredibly realistic and there is an astronomical amount of people who are now pointing the finger towards video games for making them too violent resulting in their children to have violent outbursts and growing violent tendencies. I do not believe it is the video games that are making these children act in fits of anger and rebellion; I believe it is bad parenting that make these children lash out. Although, there have been numerous studies on the effects of video games and how they link violent acts carried out by young adults, most of the findings are inconclusive, meaning no physiologist can actually prove that video games cause violence. Parents are the direct result of why children act out in violence not video games. Video games have gotten to the point where gamers can become a character in a virtual world and basically carry out any action to the gamers choosing, even if that means to kill whomever the gamer would desire in multiple explicit gory ways that the user desires to do in their twisted minds yet, people are still pointing fingers at this X-rated portion
Controversy about video games continue to escalate between parents and gamers, regarding the psychological effect of simulated, realistic, and 3D violence on the minds of young children and growing teenagers. Yet, research shows that video games contribute very little to today’s everyday violence, despite complaints and concerns that games influence a child’s normal behavior. Technology is a way of life in today’s world, computers are used by toddlers, adolescents, and adults alike. No matter what career path a person chooses, the computer plays an essential role in the job. The more our technology progresses and as our industry grows stronger, computers and electronic entertainment will grow to be found everywhere around the world. This includes videogames.
