5s Project I will start by introducing the project that I decided to do for 5s assignment. The 5s project which it is a method that many companies use to organize their workplace to make it more effective and useful for their employees. For example, at my work we already have 5s implemented and it is working great so far. It is easy to identify tools that we the employees need in the daily basis and we all collaborate to keep it sustainable. However, since at my work we are pretty good on this project and there are not more areas where I can take the opportunity to implement 5s I decided to do 5s to my storage house. Honestly, my storage is messy since we have purchased it couple of years a go. We decided to store everything in our storage, without organizing it. So, I …show more content…
I have created a 5s audit form where every month my wife and I will audit the storage to make sure everything stays the same. Especially the Toy area, since we will be adding and taking toys, strollers jumpers according to kid’s age and need. This area will be important to sustain, since it’s the highest cluttering area with high demand on toys with toddlers running in the backyard. Keeping this area within 5S requirement is going to be a challenge. Overall, the project was excellent to do it because of two reasons, one I was able to do my own 5s project that helped to have a better understanding of the entire process and two that now I have an organized storage where I will be able to have more space. Now that I performed this project I feel that I'm taking the right direction on being lean, even though my storage is not a business firm or a company where lean can be applied I now know that this is the first step of my experience in lean and maintaining control of 5s process so later in the near future I can apply this project anywhere I get the opportunity to

The thing that seemed to be most difficult was that most students are not offered outside opinions on teachers and the classes offered. By analysing these areas it is apparent there are lessons to be learnt when undertaking enormous projects that are exposed to numerous external pressures.
