Weight loss hypnosis is designed to help people stick to their diets, become motivated and lose weight. It is effective because it works with your subconscious patterns, habits and feelings. You already know that you should be eating healthily, and hypnosis helps your subconscious mind to actually want to lose weight.

For a number of years, the research on this field of study was limited. Although hypnosis has been around for nearly two centuries, it has only recently received attention and recognition from the medical community. As research is gradually being completed, it shows the amazing effects of hypnosis. Individuals who learned self-hypnosis were able to lose twice as much as the control group. In one particular study, they were able to keep this weight off for two years after the treatment finished.

Often, the hypnotist will pick a favorite food or restaurant to use during the session. If you love cake, the hypnotist may have you visualize cakes leaving in hot air balloons until they are far away. Through techniques like visualization and imagery, hypnosis can limit your cravings for sweet, salty or fried foods.

Although aversion methods like reminding you candy is unhealthy can work for a while, but positive suggestions have the best lasting results. Over time, hypnosis trains the mind to focus on the positive and to develop a “can-do” attitude. Imagery and visualization compound this effect by allowing you to imagine how you will feel and look after you have lost the weight.
