the 1970s was not just an era of day glow trousers, lava lamps, and the emergence of punk rock. it was a traumatic economic decade of stagflation, a three day week and the return of unemployment. yet despite some headline grabbing crisis, it was a decade of rising living standards, the growth of credit and rising of property prices. consumers in the 70s paid less for television, cellular devices, and houses compared to what the average consumer pays today.

My group and I were asked to work on a project for the Brazos Church Pantry. We had many parts to this project starting with just an over view of the website. For this over view we as a team sat down and looked at the Brazos Church Pantry website and discussed what we found good, bad, what we believe needs improvement, and how the organization can improve it. From this inicial overview of the website we then began to write the first draft of our report to Greg Barfield explaining what we had found in the website, but gave no recommendations yet, because we also explained to him we intended on doing further research to get an outside view through a usability study. Before, the usability study was completed Greg Barfield requested that my team

According to the textbook, Trader Joe is not a gourmet food store or a discount food store. Trader Joe actually specializes in selling gourmet food at a discounted price. This store is also a cultural experience. Trader Joe sells luxury things such as Organic Creamy Valencia peanut butter, cage free eggs, and more. All of these gourmet food that is generally sold for high prices are generally given away almost little to nothing. In order to sustain itself in the market, Trader Joe puts its own special twist on the food price value. Their price value slogan is “cheap gourmet”. Also, Joe’s price incentive attracts devoted customers who love what they purchase from the prices they pay. So what concept does Trader Joe utilize?

Food Inc. opens in an American supermarket and draws attention to the unnatural nature of year-round tomatoes and boneless meat. It pulls aside the curtain that is concealing the truth about food from the consumer. After the brief intro, the movie shifts its focus to the topic of fast food and its impact on the meat industries. Fast food virtually started with McDonald’s. When they decided to simplify their menu and hire employees that repeated one task over and over for minimum wage, the result was the fast food phenomenon that swept the United States, and then the world. Today, McDonald’s is the largest purchaser of beef and potatoes in the United States, and is one of the largest purchasers of pork, chicken, tomatoes, and apples. Though
On February 17, 2017, my partner and I visited the Eagle’s Nest pantry located near the entrance of Seymour’s. I have been at the University of Southern Mississippi for four years now and had no clue that this campus afford food assistance to those in need. My belief for not knowing the pantry existed is because of its location. When I approached the door, I felt like I was about to enter a student restricted storage room; there were no visible signs indicating that it was a student approved food assistance program. Once I entered, I was greeted by a team of Interim and undergraduate volunteer students eager to give me a tour of their small operation. Jennifer, one of the volunteer students, walked me through the process of how the pantry works.

Have you noticed the issues of how people in our culture think about and acquire food? For this assignment I have observed food acquisition at a grocery store. The data collection is consisted of two separate parts: fieldwork notes part one and brief interviews part two. The verbal questionnaire’s (mini- interviews) lasted from 2-5 minutes per person out of the ten individuals. The observations are broken down into blocks, meaning I observed the exterior and interior of the store. I under took the project at the Whole Foods Market located in Beverly Hills. I have shopped at whole foods numerous times, but decided that I should observe a location I have not been to. As a result my observations of the store do not get clouded by my opinions.
