What Are Your Strengths

Initially, my strengths as an interviewer would stem from my early passion for listening to others in their times of need. I learned through my personal experience with my peers and family that it was they that had the answer to their issues but often needed to talk about their issues to a willing participant to find it. I found that others did not want advice more as they wanted guidance to come to a conclusion they felt comfortable with to hand at that time. Furthermore, with my diverse cultural and socioeconomic background, I was able to experience many different individuals in their unique circumstances. I was able ti understand that diverse individuals were often above their assigned stereotypes and were simply a part of the human condition to which we all subscribe. Lastly, I would attribute my strengths as an interviewer to my past employment experiences. With positions in both the health care and social work, I has much practice with interviewing with a wide range of clients. I was set in formal settings were I was to have individual or group sessions with individuals to discuss issues of personal health or wellbeing. I am confident that my learned skills will carry over and provide an advantage in the field of counseling.

The four different categories that NJHS looks for which are leadership, service, character and citizenship. These are many different goals of NJHS, that I show strengths in. As a world citizen of my community and my school, I have many strengths that would support the goals of leadership, service, character and citizenship. As a student I try to use these goals to guide my way through things and it clearly shows why I am a qualified candidate and student for NJHS.

From the Strength Finder website questionnaire, my individualized leadership strengths are as follows: achiever, command, context, focus, and significance. In this essay I will elaborate on these in detail and the ways they explicitly relate to my personality and the different experiences and activities of my life. I have also researched several articles that discuss transformational leadership and how this pertains to the literature on the subject. I will discuss transformational leadership in comparison to my own strengths, and explain how my leadership style may progress as I advance through this nurse practitioners program.

Trying to decide what your personal strengths are, is hard. For myself, I have grown in my strengths, and I’ve experienced my weaknesses. My personal strengths consist of: positivity, encouragement, laughter, and love. I pick these four because I feel that I am truly strongest in these aspects of my life. Being positive is a big factor in everything I do. I always want to be happy and joyful; not only to display Christ in me, but to make others feel the way I do. I want others to appreciate life and to feel any kind of uplift in his or her spirt. Positivity plays into encouragement. I make it my goal to make others feel better about themselves. My goal coming into college was to learn and know every person(s) name that I got the chance to meet. Just taking a few minutes out of your day to truly get to know someone, is such a blessing. It not only blesses me in new friendships, but it also blesses others because they feel that someone genuinely cares about them. Laughter is another characteristic I strive to pour out onto others. I laugh at practically everything. I love to laugh, and I love to make people laugh. I’ve learned the importance of laughter, and I just want to make one person smile every day. Love is my last of the four attributes. Love is so important to me. I love creation (Trees, birds, squirrels), God, and I love people. What are your main strengths?Punctuality, adaptability, precision and organisation. These are the strengths I possess, and the qualities that I believe will allow me to excel in this field of work. In situations when I have worked in a group setting, I have been told that one of my strengths is taking in, processing multiple ideas and information.
