Although there are some elements that could incriminate Riginald Chase such as buying arsenic, the message "cheaters do not win", and his GPS indicating that he was in the place and date of the facts, I consider that there is not enough strong evidence that Chase murderer his ex-wife. A discovery of DNA in the body of Ludlow could have been perhaps the missing puzzle piece that would help to clarify if he did it or not. For this reason I consider Chase not
During the year of 2015, a case that the Innocence Project was working on at the time was the Joseph Buffey Case. Joseph Buffey was convicted in 2001 in West Virginia of rape and robbery. Mr. Buffey pled guilty to the crimes based on the advise of his counsel and witness misidentification which was the heart of this investigation. On May 11, 2015, Mr. Buffey was excluded by DNA and the real perpetrator was later found. Mr. Buffey served a total of 15 years in prison for a crime that he did not commit. DNA Exonerations makes up 334 total cases that the Innocence Project has worked on. The following numbers overlap with the 334 cases. 237 cases involved misidentification by witnesses, 154 were the result of improper forensics, 92 were due to

All through the United States the African American community has been targeted by the Caucasian community. We are in the year 2015 and still to this day we are having the same problem our grandparents and their ancestors were dealing with in today’s modern society. A young lady by the name of Renisha McBride became another victim of racism, she was shot and killed asking for help after she was in a car accident. The accident happened in Dearborn Heights Michigan, which is 20 minutes away from the major city Detroit. This is an unfortunate event that happens all the time throughout the country.
The most noticeable reason Chase is a compelling character is because he does what he likes despite heavy peer pressure. One thing Chase likes and continues to do is the video club. Bear and Aaron, his football friends turned enemies, constantly tell Chase not to do the video club but he continues to because it is what he likes. Bear and Aaron could possibly even be jealous that Chase isn’t playing football and he is doing the video club instead. The next reason Chase is compelling because he does what he likes is he makes friendships with
Chase was a disorganized, sloppy serial killer. Evidence present in his clothing and the victims house led to his apprehension. He would also leave the murder scene by
MCI received a call from Darryl Bruno, Bruno Counseling and Consulting Services LCSW, stating during a session with Kolten on 08/26/15 he witnessed two visible marks on the child's left arm. Kolten told Mr. Bruno his father became angry, made the lighter hot, and burned him. Mr. Bruno believes Kolten may have been burned with a cigarette lighter on last week. Kolten has bruises on his arm that are still red and inflamed. Kolten's pediatrician has been contacted and an appointment was made for 08/27/15 for 4:00pm. When confronted with the allegations, Kolten's parents informed the reporter that the incident was reported by the child's school, a worker, Jennifer Hepler, has investigated, and the case was closed. Kolten has some severe behavior
Not every DWI (driving while intoxicated) case ends the same, some have different verdicts in the courtroom. The Ethan Couch case is a great example of why punishing drunk drivers should be more enforced and not so lenient. The teen from Texas was driving drunk with two other passengers in his pickup truck on June of 2013, when he hit and killed four people. Ethan Couch was tried as a juvenile and charged with four counts of Intoxication Manslaughter, but was only sentenced to ten years of probation. His lawyers argued that it was due to “affluenza”, which means that he came from a wealthy family and it prevented him from understanding what was right from wrong, so he was not held accountable for his actions. The judge who took on this case
One of the many themes of the novel “Tweaked” is betrayal. Having read this book through, it seemed like there was an example of betrayal from Chase every time he had been mentioned. The level Chase would sometimes stoop down to would be surprising, from asking for lunch money to stealing his family's valuables just to later trade it in for a couple hundred bucks. “I wish Chase was dead. I wish he’d disappear off the face of the earth instead of this—the way he keeps coming back, over and over. It’s like torture; he’s dragging us down along with him, slowly.”(p.99)(Gordie) Gordie expresses his thoughts after he gets jumped by Chase’s dealers. It's not like Chase doesn't know what he’s doing to not just himself but the people that care about him, he knows but really doesn't care that much to even think deep into it. Even after Chase gets kicked out by his dad, I think the fact that his parents had to change the door locks after a few break-ins by him shows the trust and confidence lost by
Some may not know there’s a difference between motive and evidence, but there is. They might seem similar but there different. Motive is a persons’ reason for doing something. For example one of Scott Peterson’s motives was money issues. On the other hand, evidence is the facts indicating a person did something.
Darryl Hunt is an African American born in 1965 in North Carolina. In 1984, he was convicted wrongfully of rape and murder of Deborah Sykes, a young white woman working as a newspaper editor. This paper researches oh his wrongful conviction in North Carolina. Darryl Hunt served nineteen and a half years before DNA evidence exonerated him. The charges leveled against him were because of inconsistencies in the initial stages of the case. An all-white bench convicted the then nineteen-year-old Hunt, even though there was no physical evidence linking him to the crime. A hotel employee made false claims that he saw Hunt enter the hotel bathroom, and later emerge with bloodstained towels. Other witnesses also fixed Hunt to the case.
Sandusky's claim of Innocence is ridiculous. Not only does he have multiple people within the school who actually knew about all the abuses, but even some of the young children are speaking out against him. Sandusky abused children from 1994 to 2009, the facts are there and multiple members of the school have also been charged with crimes for the cover up of Sandusky and to not gain a bad representation of the school. It's actually pretty sickening that many trusted members of this school, covered up such acts against a man who abused children for over 15 years. It is even way worse at the fact that these people turned a blind eye so that they wouldn't make the school look bad. It is my opinion that the judge should have also charged these
“I have only a short time to live, only one death to die, and I will die fighting for this cause. There will be no peace in this land until slavery is done for.” John Brown John Brown is an abolitionist who desperately tries to end slavery once and for all. He knows he will break many rules, and he knows this is very dangerous, yet he still does it in order to free many, many innocent lives of the slaves. Although John Brown uses violence in his plans, he does try to end slavery and save many people from the horrors of whips and killing; ultimately, John Brown is not guilty of murder, treason, and insurrection.
People in today’s society want to blame everything that happens on someone. If there is no discernable culprit, mob mentality will take over and that mob will eventually point the blame toward someone or something. Regardless of whether or not that person is truly to blame. Julie Amero fell victim to this. As a substitute teacher Julie was entrusted to look after a 7th grade class. When she noticed the class crowded around a computer she went to investigate. What she saw on the screen appalled and frightened her. Popup after popup of pornography littered the screen. Every time she closed one window another would open. It wasn’t until she turned off the screen and sent the children away that that children stopped seeing all of these images. When the parents of the children in the class caught wind of this, they immediately went to the principle. The parents did not stop there, they called the police whom eventually arrested and indicted Julie Amero with four counts of Risking injury to a minor, which can carry maximum sentence of 20 years.
A lot of people wonder if Adnan Syed is guilty or innocent, today as a legal assistant I'm going to tell you one important reason why he is innocent. Adnan is not guilty because there is another potential suspect like Jay. Jay's story that "proves" Adnan's guilt, has changed every interview and testimony. Jay had intimate knowledge of the crime he knew things, like if he knew every single thing that Adnan was thinking about which makes everything looked suspicious. Also Jay's stories don't quite match Adnan's cell records.
1. Information regarding the Department of Corrections’ investigation of complaints related to several correctional officers will spread throughout the institution along certain channels (Stojkovic, Kalinich, Klofas, 2008). Starting with the prison warden this information will need to be efficient and accurate as it travels throughout the organization. Being that the prison warden will be the first to be informed of this information, the chain of command would be downward communication. This type of communication allows a clear passageway for the information to be sent to subordinates and provides for an effective management of the tone and delegation of the message (Stojkovic et al., 2008). The channels that are chosen in regards to the
