In this U.S. History class I am assuming we will learn more about America in the 20th century rather than the 19th century. I am also hoping that this class will be more advanced as we take more notes, quizzes, and tests. I hope that we will learn more about the presidents, especially with the upcoming election on its way.
I am definitely looking forward to talking about current events to make the class think outside of what we are learning at the moment in general. I am also really excited to learn more about this country and its importance. Lastly, I am most excited to learn about all of the presidents, as mentioned in what I expected in this class, and their significance and how they impacted the country to how it is today.
However, I
•What are some new topics you might want to learn about in the coming semester?
Many different forms of government can be put into place that will dramatically influence the culture and lifestyle of a particular society. The influence of republicans was significant in helping to shape colonial America. Republicans grew and helped to transform colonial America exponentially in the years 1764 through 1812.
Chapter eight speaks of the growth of the American "empire", using political manipulation to control the south. During the reconstruction of the South, many Southerners felt less aided and crippled further due to taxes, political reformation, and of course the loss of slave labor. In terms of political corruption, the Southern states were forced back into the union but were denied representation in the Union, and used political control to rob the states financially. Taking the votes of the newly freed blacks also created a tension with white and black relations that last to even today, commonly from the Ku Klux Klan. If anything, the attempt to create stability to the war-torn South ended up making things worse in both the North and South.
A lot has happened over the this course learning everything from music in the 1960s to interrogation techniques of the current. The last ting we learned about our country is how Christians played a role in it. The history of we came to be in America, how we have an influence and the social enigmas with wanting it in politics. The main things we covered in the past eight weeks is how different events have effected or influenced the United States. We begin in the sixties and worked our way through the major events and crises of our country.
Although the two time era’s of the 1930’s and the 1960’s are 30 years apart, America changed in so many ways, but also stayed the same. During these times the American stock market crashed and pretty much every American was poor and out of work. It was a very hard time for everyone but especially for people of color. Colored people were very discriminated and segregated from the rest. The American economy was in a black hole, people suffered for decades.
One lesson that I’ve learned from the information provide on the history of WWII and other wars in class that can be applied to the present is to understand that different eras of veterans face different barriers based on their cohort or time of entry in the military. For example, as discussed in class how Vietnam era Veterans were expose to Agent Orange and how that exposure has created specific health needs in this population. Or the how Jane Fonda may be a trigger for some Veterans based on her perceived lack of support for POW service members and Vietnam Veterans and considering how those triggers can play out in everyday interactions with veterans. I think the information and discussion from this week’s class gave concrete and practical
This essay will examine the rise of “modern America”, there were economic, religious, and aspect of life changes took place and it was greatly changed the Americans society’s perceptions, specifically, the north and the south. The rise of “modern America” was greatly motivated immigrants to come to the United States for economic opportunity, industrialization in the North after the civil war created new businesses and job regulations, and the demand for social changes; all of these factors shaped America socially, politically, and economically.
In chapter 4 “The Rise of New States: Ayuthaya, Majapahit, and Malacca” there were two major upheavals that were discussed. The first upheaval was the Mongol invasions of Southeast Asia and the rise of the Thais and Majapahit Empire, and the other upheaval was the advert of Islam and the rise of Malacca. The Mongol invasions began when Genghis khan invaded Southeast Asia and China, which led to major change in the area. After invading china the Mongols “followed the traditional Chinese policy of demanding loyalty and tribute from the peoples on China’s borders, including those in Southeast Asia” (SarDesai 82) .The Mongols broke up and defeated Myanmar which led to Thai becoming the new influential
I have learned a lot about our History this semester. Much more than I have learned through all my years in public school. It is crazy to see just how skewed the information that we were taught throughout our lives is. Our History classes lacked genuine information about our History, we were really taught only what they wanted us to know and not exactly what had happened in the past. This semester we talked about many subjects that our education system has failed to talk about accurately. For example we talked about Christopher Columbus, the Pilgrims, Slavery, the Civil War, the Progressives, the Gilded Age, World War II, the Cold War and The Vietnam War.
you could not see what they looked like and they had high points on so
In class we read different articles in the packet we recieve earlier in the week, we’ve also had many different opportunities to take notes and prepare for the exam we had today. We also watched a short film about why did the US join the war and how did we lose. We also learned that we fought with South Korea because North Korea was a communist government.
now travel to the cinema in the family car. It was a big hit in the
Between the late 18th and the early 19th century, America was discovering herself, and apart from politics, most of her other issues revolved around gender and race; two factors that were socially important given the growing population. Many social changes took place during this period, some of them are discussed below.Since the industrial revolution was just starting to take its toll on America, the gap between the rich and the poor became significant. Most people moved to the cities to try and improve their lifestyles. The need to accommodate the growing population made the United States expand rapidly (Roark). While the North was mostly urbanized, the South remained agricultural. Families became smaller, spectator sports became more popular,
There is a lot I hope to be able to learn and take away from this class. Being an economics major I would be interested to learn more in depth about how the state of the economy lead to the antisemitism. I would also like to learn about the lasting effect that the Holocaust had on Germany and America's economy also. Overall I am very excited for this class as this has always been a historical event that has interested
We have learned many different themes and concepts this semester. I feel like the most important ones that I learned about in history this semester has to be about World War I (WWI), World War II (WWII), and the Vietnam War. I think that they are important because the stories of these wars shows how we have become the people we are today.
