A PSAP (Public-Safety Answering Point) is essentially a call-center for 911 calls. T-Mobile routes for their customers’ 911 calls to the PSAP, when answer, provides appropriate emergency information to the correct emergency responders (for example, police department, fire, ambulance services etc.) PSAPs are privately and often independently run through contracts with states, counties, and cities. There are over 5,000 PSAPs operating in the United States and to serve wireless customers, T-Mobile is connected to over 3,000 PSAPs in licensed service areas in which we operate-Mobile is required by law to notify PSAPs of outages “as soon as possible by telephone or electronic means.
