Marketing is a process of business communication, where the company and the consumer audience can interact to introduce abehavioral change on a short term or permanent basis. In the opinion of Anyeshaet al. (2014),TESCO is one of the leading international retailing brandswhich build the customers loyalty by introducingpersonalizeds offer like additional incentives for shopping with the company. In this present report, the author has chosen TESCO for performing the overall study. The report also includes the details background of the company. TESCO is one of the leading global leading retailers in the world. It was established in 1929 in London.This UK based firms currently operated in 14 countries around the world.Now, it expands its operation with over 6500 stores and approximately 32000 team members in all over the world.

The innovative business marketing strategy made shopping easier for the customers. The other strengths of the company is its potential leadership position in the UK market. Reputed brand value in worldwide also maximises its strengths point. Global operations, including online shopping is another strength of TESCO.
Weaknesses:
Over dependence in the domestic market is the one of the main weak point of TESCO. The inefficient competitive advantage of the brand is not so sustainable to hold its position in the competitive marketplace. TESCO’s profit was badly impacted by its bad debt reduction methods. Lack of experience in some target market is another weakness of TESCO (Pahl and Richter, 2009). The other identified problem is that the company needs enormous amount of cash investment in new online shopping business.

Tesco Plc is a Public Limited Company who securities and shares are included in the stock exchange and list of different countries. In UK, companies like Tesco Plc are registered under the companies Act 1980 and its shared are offered to public in regards of limited liability. In addition, Tesco is associated with retail sector that carries out a majority business of the company and contribute their share in country’s economy to a huge scale. Apart from the retail sector, Tesco Plc faced tough competition all over the world from companies like Wal-Mart, Asda, Sainsbury, and others. Although, Tesco is not in dominating position in the current retail market in the UK, but the company is one of the biggest retail companies working in the UK, North America, Asia, Europe and other. Tesco is the Public Limited Company I will explore. To understand the size of Tesco, it has stores in 12 countries across Asia and Europe. There is a sum of 3739 Tesco stores within the UK (as of 2017). They also have 460,000 Colleagues at the end of 2016. This shows the size of Tesco and gets us to understand the effect that Tesco has on the UK’s economy and needs and goods of UK’s communities.

Tesco can be said to be a global leader in the UK retail business. It is one of the leading world retailers. The company started using the trading name TESCO in the 1920s and since the group has expanded in many ways venturing in different markets and with interest in different sectors. Over the years, Tesco has recorded growth which has been achieved through different strategies. There has been emphasis on the growth of Core UK business in order to expand internationally. This growth has allowed the company to position itself in food and non-food sectors based on retailing services. Over the years, the company has witnessed financial fortunes which have been reflected in its growing sales. Sales have risen from 31,726,280 from 2013 to 32,074,650 in 2014 (Kantar, 2014.) This has been achieved through growth strategies which have seen the company expand its retail outlets and at the same time enter into new markets with high growth potential using their famous ‘every little helps’ branding along the way. The ‘Every little helps’ branding helped Tesco’s attract 1.3 million new customers in the period from 1990-1995, and the campaign achieved good effects on staff morale, attracting quality marketers to join Tesco, directly affected the share price and allowed the brand to move into non-grocery sectors where brand credibility is a key requirement. In these days, it has been thrived to 12 country all over the world, including United Kingdom, Malaysia, India, Hungary, Ireland, Kipa, Slovakia, Poland, Czech, Thailand, even South Korea, and China (Tescoplc.com, 2012). Tesco is a public limited company. According to Marcouse (2011:92), “Public limited company (Plc) is a larger type of company that must have at least £50,000 of share capital and has its shares traded on the stock market”, therefore Tesco can have greater capital source and shareholders in their business.

The founder of Tesco was a person by the name Sir John Edward Cohen or also known as Jack Cohen, he was a market stall holder in Hackney, London and soon started a wholesale business.
Tesco is the largest supermarket retail chain in the United Kingdom with Sainsbury being their closest rival. It is also the third largest retail chain in the world. This was accomplished through much needed facility updating as well as using marketing techniques that appealed to customers. This evolution was started by understanding that customers no longer wanted the companies that just sold products to them; they were looking for an experience, a store that saw them as a person rather than a dollar sign. The ideas that MacLaurin used are collectively known as the Triple Bottom Line.
