If you have animals at home, how much do you love them? Would you do anything for them? How would you feel if someone took them and did tests on them? Some people think it is okay for animals to be used for testing. However, some people think that testing things on animals is cruel. I am also one to believe that testing products on animals is not okay. It is cruel to use animals for testing. Another reason why we should not use animals for testing is the fact that many of these experiments have flaws and don’t work correctly. Also animals can suffer the same way that humans do.
It is both cruel and inhumane to do experiments on animals. For example, “The Draize eye test, used by cosmetics companies to evaluate irritation caused by shampoos

“A 2009 peer-reviewed study found serious flaws in the majority of publicly funded US and UK animal studies using rodents and primates.” (Con 9). (http://animal-testing.procon.org/). If they found something wrong with the majority of the studies then there definitely needs to be something changed. “Since the majority of animals used in biomedical research are killed during or after the experiments, and since many suffer during the studies, the lives and wellbeing of animals are routinely sacrificed for poor research.” (Con 9). (http://animal-testing.procon.org/). While performing tests or experiments that are inaccurate you scientists are wasting the lives of precious little animals. I understand not all tests are accurate, but to do that same inaccurate tests over and over knowing it’s not going to work really makes no sense at …show more content…
“Current research provides compelling evidence that at least some animals likely feel a full range of emotions, including fear, joy, happiness, shame, embarrassment, resentment, jealousy, rage, anger, love, pleasure, compassion, respect, relief, disgust, sadness, despair, and grief.” (http://bioscience.oxfordjournals.org/content/50/10/861.full). By experimenting on animals they are suffering the same way a human would if they were being tortured. However, under those circumstances, humans could try and fight back whereas animals are unable to do so. There are alternative things scientists could do instead of hurting animals. They could do testing in vitro, which is also known as the test tube method. Also as I previously said they could do the experiments on criminals that are in prison for life. There is a method called microdosing. Microdosing is a method “in which humans are given very low quantities of a drug to test the effects on the body on the cellular level, without affecting the whole body system.”
Animal Testing is widely known to be cruel and inhumane. Many animals suffer due to scientists wanting to test their products on them to benefit humans. The Humane Society International stated that animals that are experimented on are usually force fed, forces inhalation, deprivation of food and water.
An issue that is hotly debated is about animal testing. It is clear that overall animal testing should not be allowed. It shouldn’t be allowed because animal testing does not even do much to the humans, because it can hurt or kill the animals, and finally because these animals that are being tested aren’t being protected the right way. Even though that other people could say that animals are a great replicate of humans and can develop cures. Also they could say that it helps less people get sick, it kills the animals by the scientists not protecting them. Overall animals shouldn’t be tested on.
Although animals testing help humans in many ways it can be cruel and inhuman to the animals being tested on. Depending on which lab the end up in they could be treated poorly and starved. They could be “inflicted with burn wounds and pain to test for a healing process” (Brown, 2017). This is cruel and just wrong for many reasons. “When testing to evaluate irritation caused by
Animals can be burned, crippled, poisoned, and abused as a result of testing. And the list could go on forever. The way animals are being mistreated and tested on should be against the law. There is a different ways to do research other than killing and abusing animals. There are many alternate test that scientist can use to do there research without harming animals. Alternative test are defined as test that use the three “R’s”, a test that replaces a procedure that uses animals with one that doesn’t, a test that reduces the number of animals used in a procedure, and test that refine a procedure to cause less pain to the animal.(11 Facts about…)
Animal testing has been bad of the years and it can even be dated back to the ancient times of the greek. Physicians would dissect animals with the pure interest to obtain knowledge. But even then, one such physician stated that he would rather use a pig as his subject because he wanted to.The ethics of animal testing has always been questioned. Humans do not want to think of animals as on the same level of us. The similarity is terrifying and makes the cruelness obvious. In the 16 century it has been recorded that early vivisectionists, scientists who perform experiments and operations on live animals, did not consider animals to be of the same lineage of us and barely cared for them. The remaining are used as test dummies for products.
Animal testing is remarkably cruel and inhumane. Animals that are used for testing are put in cages and isolated. They are usually, they are taken almost casually, housed appallingly, and denied anything close to a life (Newkirk). These animals are trapped their whole life and are stripped of their ways of life. Not to mention that within some of these laboratories, universities, and every other place that animal testing is conducted in, researchers treat animals very poorly. In one place, "workers were caught punching dogs in the face, screaming at the animals, and even simulating sex with each other while trying to inject a frightened beagle" (Newkirk). Not only do researchers do those cruel actions, but some "experimenters force-feed chemicals to animals, conduct repeated surgeries on them, implant wires in their brains, crush their spines, and much more" (PETA). Some may say that this does not happen and that animals do not experience pain anymore due to new laws, like the Animal Welfare Act (AWA). But, the truth is, these "laws" do barely anything, if nothing, to help stop the cruel
Animal testing can have a different meaning for each individual, it can be both cruel and helpful in everyday life.
Animals have always been the main source of companies to test for the safety of their products. Animal testing can be traced back to Greek scientists such as Aristotle experimenting on live animals. Animals were being tested on because doctors wanted to make sure their products were safe for humans. So, instead of having to put humans at risk with their unknown products, doctors thought it would be safer to test on animals first. This practice is still widely known today, and many people find it acceptable. Animal testing is understandable in the sense that products should be tested for safety first before being released to the public to use. However, many people find animal testing to be cruel because scientists are putting animals through harsh conditions such as being confined to a small area or being abused for disobeying. Those who find it cruel, do not understand how people do not see what is wrong with torturing these animals when there are many alternatives. Animals are exposed to dangerous chemicals that could put their life at risk,
Animal testing is expensive and scientists should reconsider finding other ways to test their products. Not only do animals suffer but so does our economy. These tests are being funded by the federal government using the public's tax dollars and by health charities who are wasting considerate amounts of dollars on cruel and irrelevant experiments on animals that instead should be spent on human-based research. Scientists also have to pay for a lab to perform these tests the animals. Paying for a lab is an initial cost
Animal testing is wrong for various reasons. The history of animal testing goes back to the writings of the ancient Greeks and is defined as any scientific experiment or test in which a live animal is forced to undergo something that is likely to cause them pain, suffering, distress or lasting harm. Examples of animal testing include: forcing mice and rats to inhale toxic fumes, force-feeding dog’s pesticides, and dripping chemicals into rabbits’ eyes. Although, many people believe that animal testing has contributed to many life-saving cures and treatments, innocent animals used in laboratories are deliberately harmed, for a company’s benefit, and are usually killed at the end of the experiment. Animal testing has negative effects on not only animals, but on society and the economy. Some reasons why include, but are not limited to: alternative methods exist that are safer, ethical, and cheaper; billions of dollars are wasted each year on animal testing because neither the corporations nor the customers are benefiting from it; and just because the product is tested for animals, it does not necessarily make it safe for humans. Therefore, because animal testing is unreliable, leads to billions of wasted dollars, and causes an incredible amount of animal suffering, we must begin to use alternative methods and raise awareness about this huge issue.
Over 26 million animals are experimented on each year in the United States. Animals are very different from human beings, Medicine that cures mice or rats, sometimes can cause death or diseases to humans. Although products tested on animals are generally safe, it can be a horrible thing to everyone. Animal testing is cruel because it harms and/or possibly kills animals, merchandise that is experimented on animals may have damaging side effects on their health, and it interferes with their growth and development
Animal testing is bad because it is cruel and inhumane, animals are different from humans, it’s wasteful animal testing, the welfare act is being violated, and it’s a waste of government money. Why are we allowing animals to be tested on if it’s cruel, wasteful, and is irrelevant? What purpose if there for animal testing? There are other ways to experiment tests meant for humans, according (Save the Animals: Stop Animal Testing), a well-known cosmetics and bath-product company based in London, develop their products that "use natural ingredients, like bananas and Basil nut oil, that are safe to humans, that are established as healthy. It’s a better way to create products than
One of the other factors that makes some animal testing inhumane is the constant presence of fear/distress in the animals because of living as “lab rats” for most to all of their lives. Animals cannot make choices for themselves and are dependent on the decision of humans. As the Humane Society International explains, around one hundred and fifteen million animals are used worldwide for experimentation. These animals are subjected to testing that causes burns, wounds, infections and overall suffering. The procedures in animal testing could range from the animals being deprived of their essential needs to electric shock or
For decades, animal experimentation has been a hot topic in society. People debate whether or not it is ethically right. Scientist claim that it is better to test products on animals rather than humans because they think a human life is more valuable than that of an animal. Does animal experimentation have an effect on human results anyway? In fact, “The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has said that 92 percent of all drugs that are shown to be safe and effective in animal tests fail in human trials because they don't work or are dangerous” (“Animal Testing”). There are clinical trials that use humans to be the first of humans to try a new product or medication anyway, so why go through the process of using animals to test it first? There
Animal experiments happen all over the world, but are they necessary? Animals are tested for medical research as well as for cosmetics. Some say that these experiments are not painful, so they are justified. Where others believe that all these experiments are inhumane and nothing can justify torturing and killing innocent animals. Although many believe that animal testing is the best way to improve human health by finding new treatments and tests for the safety of the products, the physical torture and painful deaths of animals are not worth the possible human benefits.
