Overcoming obstacles can be challenging for all people. Whether the struggle is at work, school, or in personal matters, we all face obstacles every day that we have to overcome. It is important to understand these struggles as well as how successful people have moved forward and persevere. In “Where there is a will, there’s a way” by Anna Harrington(2012), the author talks about ways that we can be stronger. She also shares tips on the support systems a person can use to overcome obstacles.
In my experiences, I have often talked with many people who do not believe they could be successful in returning to school later in life. This is not true and many people are even better learners as they mature. A person in this situation could
Most everyone has to overcome some type of adversity in their life. Some things are harder to overcome than others, but it’ll always be worth it in the end. These past few years I have been facing the challenge of a life time.
I have overcome lots of obstacles in my life. They weren't the easiest to overcome, but I did it. There is one obstacle I had to go through which made me a strong individual mentally and physically. I lived in New Jersey for my entire life. I grew up there, I had all of my family and friends in Jersey. I was sure my future was going to rely in Jersey. During 7th grade, I got the news that we were going to move to North Carolina. I was thrilled to move to another state. As each day passed, I thought how I would have to start in a new school and make new friends. Every time it struck me knowing that I would have to start a new life. I was nervous not knowing what would happen to my future. I wanted to stay in New Jersey because I was scared of
Imagine having the perfect life- you get into all honors classes, you get straight A’s, you are the first chair in the orchestra, you get into the A Cappella choir, you are on the varsity volleyball team, President of the Student Council, and you have a perfect home life. You have never had to face a single obstacle throughout your journey in life. When your whole life is like this, you do not know what failure feels like and will never experience the need to rise up after a downfall. There are many types of journeys one can take in life and dealing with obstacles has a prodigious impact on the outcome. The obstacles and hindrances are the things that shape us as we experience the ups and downs in life.
trying to change or overcome obstacles can be damaging. Life is full of struggles, but it
First,in ways, people overcome obstacles is keeping a positive attitude since when you have a positive attitude you are harder to discourage. An example of positive attitude while facing adversity would be in the text “A work in progress” where Aimee Mullin faces her adversity with humor like when she broke her wooden leg and while all the other people in that room were freaking out all she could think about was that her parents were going to kill her.I chose this example because out of all the stories we read in class about facing adversity Aimee Mullin struck me as the most positive about her obstacle. It’s important because it shows my point that with a positive attitude you don’t get discouraged as easily and like Aimee Mullin you can achieve whatever you wish no matter your adversity.Another example from “A work in progress” that shows positive attitude would be when Aimee Mullin got her new legs and was stating all the good qualities about her legs instead of being like oh I don’t this about them or
Obstacles change our way of thought and affect our emotions. A person’s values change as well as their character and they develop an understanding on their situation. Through the hardships of any situation, there is some way or another a solution only in the presence of desire.
One will face various barriers in their lifetime. When an individual overcomes a problem, they will always obtain something in reward of their effort. Everyone experiences obstacles throughout their lives. It is important to overcome these obstacles and not let them get in the way of our future. An obstacle can be anything: A lack of food or money, an addiction or even just someone telling you you’re not good enough. When I first heard of and saw the poster of the play “The Will”, a Denison Independent Theater Association production that was performed at the Ace Morgan Theatre on September 25 - 26, 2015, I was wondering if this would be a comedy that was performed solely for the purpose of entertainment. However, I changed my mind after seeing the play written by Matthew Harmon. It was a great play with satire, irony, sarcasm and farce; and a great production team directed by Jeremy Hollis.
Many people go through struggles in life that they just can’t seem to overcome. However, it is when you find that on reason or one drive in your life that gives you the determination to overcome whatever that obstacle is.
There are many things that can hold people back from goals that they are determined to accomplish. Despite these hardships and dilemmas that we face, if we have fight in us and the correct work ethic we are bound to succeed. I personally have faced my share of obstacles in my life and have been through plenty of hardships. However, I always overcome them in one way or another. For example, when I first walked the halls of Harlingen High School I entered as a shy but ambitions freshman with a lot of friends and unfortunately a lot of enemies. I was always put down due to play playing ability in band. I constantly tried to get better and better and that’s when freshman region auditions came along. I was excited to be able to actually compete

No matter who you may be, you’re going to run into a wall that you can’t seem to find a way around. This wall may be a failed test, a bad report card, or maybe you broke your last pair of drumsticks. Whether big or small, these obstacles define who we are as people. Franklin Delano Roosevelt, a model for all who struggle, was one of the foremost practitioners of a steadfast resolve and unending perseverance. People that struggle with adversity in life can learn a thing or two from this man. In my life, I have applied this resilience against my obstacles. Now, I only hope that someone who is wondering how they can jump their own hurdles can understand it can be done.
