ISIS is being led by multiple people who are extremely resistant to compromise and believe that they are following a prophecy. They have a divine prophecy that they will either be led to a great demise or a wonderful ending where they will come out on top. ISIS is vastly different than many other groups by the fact that they are led by a very strong willed leadership.

To this date hold their land there unlike other groups like Al-Qaeda and Taliban. They have a huge support from people as their count being over 30,000 soldiers and followers. They are heavily armed, can fund themselves, have an organized infrastructure, and can cause a lot of damage. Later in 2006, their brutality lost them the support of Iraqi Sunnis who partnered with US forces to help push them out of the country. And for this incident, America takes a lot of credit for this and call it the Surge in which they helped Sunnis rise up against Al-Qaeda in Iraq’s rule. This led to Al-Qaeda in Iraq being defeated but not destroyed by only being driven out of the land they used to control and later they began rebuilding themselves by being involved in the fighting in Syria as they were trying to throw the Shiite Assad regime. I found many perspectives that this group obtains. In using a functionalist perspective, we see how the groups use moral regulations and also their religious faith to teach an ideology and propagandize their people under them. This small group in sociality works and is trying to grow large and ISIS is doing just that through population growth. ISIS continues to recruit in many ways. Many people in this group have roles. Everyone becomes dependent on one another for their continued well being. People have become specialized which forces mutual interdependent, this interdependence makes sure the the community will not fall apart.

ISIS is a mysterious but well publicized group of people, that mainly covers the Middle East with force. The Islamic State is unknown and yet to be discovered by the United States government. People across Europe are joining ISIS, many are regular citizens around the world, but some become psychopaths and cause ISIS to control places with supreme radical tactics. The group is becoming more powerful and modernized as time goes on. This is leading up to a world wide crisis based on what ISIS really is and what they want. I am not an expert; thus I can only opine how I look at the ISIS with the knowledge I have. Contrary to what Graeme Wood defines ISIS as a religious group, I think it more illustrates a terrorist group. The followers of ISIS are devoted to their scriptures and give reasons for their actions, which easily elevates their standard higher than other terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda. Nonetheless, the path they are walking in order to reach their goal is immoral.
